    My Trip Report

I meant to post this upon our return home late July but we got some devastating news and had to turn around and fly to Denver to be with my sister. Then school started, I work at an elementary school and it's been crazy busy!
    So here goes...

    Our first Vegas trip

We flew southwest, no issues, arrived on time, walk into the airport and am immediately on a Vegas High!
Collect our luggage and head for the taxi line...

Our driver wasn't very talkative,he had those ads blaring and I'm pretty sure he was in training for the upcoming nascar race, crazy drive to our hotel*Mirage. We weren't tunneled so all was good and the driver eventually turned down the ads so we could ask him questions. Fun Fun Fun and we are only about 10 mins into our trip!

Arrive at Mirage to a Long line at check-in but no worries, we are in vegas! Thanks to my decisionally challenged self my husband booked the Mirage which was also recommended to me on this forum(I was considering Harrahs/Flamingo/Ballys) so I did some research (since my husband booked the hotel and he does little to no research) on TA reading reviews I noticed no matter the review good or bad the same mirage rep always replied and gave her email addy asking the guest to contact her so they could make whatever went wrong, right! I appreciated that and decided to email her and let her know it was our first trip, that my husband booked our room and seeing how attentive she was I knew he had made a good decision.

That email paid off...she put a note on our check-in acct to be contacted upon our arrival...we were instantly upgraded to the 25th floor, views of volcano/strip.
Ask me how many times I saw the volcano go off from our room? NONE! Ask me how many times I checked out the view from our room? Only upon arrival, one time! LOL
The room was lovely! Comfy bed, roomy enough for the two of us. Wifi worked great for me using my iPad. No complaints at all. We go to mlife to get our players cards and see where the night takes us.

Our first night in Vegas...what to do? We head out to the strip and walk...we cross the street to casino royale sign up for players cards. Enjoy some $1 michelob and video poker.
We then start walking in and out of casinos on this side of the strip. Harrahs Flamingo just soaking it all in. The sights, the sounds, the people it was pure awesomeness! We only gambled at mlife properties with the exception of casino royale and our time spent downtown. We catch the fountains going off, what a sight to behold! We walk and gawk! We collect every single porn card we can for the 4 days we are there(I've got a 19 yr old son-I called it free souvenirs)

We end up back out front of the mirage and decide to play some at casino royale. The next thing I know it's 5:30am! We cross the street back to the mirage and sleep a little...

    Day 2
I'm back up at 9:30 and head to the pool where I order the yummiest Bloody Mary, take selfies with the BM then promptly send them to every contact in my phone with the caption 'wish you were here!'

My husband wakes around 2 we head down to the buffet for some food. We gamble a little,I play slots, win some, the biggest payout was $642 I literally put my money in hit the button and win 642. I collect my winnings cash out and we head to the Fremont experience.

We took the bus the double decker it was slow going but it didn't matter...Vegas Baby! We wander in and out of casinos downtown. We get our picture made with all the money...we forget to pickup our picture! We hit the strip club, I buy my husband a lap dance because that was the nice thing to do :) the next thing I know is it's....5:30am

    Day 3

I slept in a little later today until 11am(I like to mix it up yanno ) we shop the forum shops and fashion show mall. We tour the Palazzo then the Venetian where we drag our hungover tired rears to an over priced oxygen bar to which the oxygen barista claims that we will get our second wind by partaking of the colored oxygen. So we sit and get hooked up then I promptly take selfies and send them to every contact in my phone with the caption...'wish you were here!' My husband loved the Venetian and said he wants to stay there next time.

We bus it down to the other end of the strip(second wind my assa!) where we enjoy the Luxor,NYNY and every single casino/hotel along our route back to the mirage(guess the oxygen finally kicked in) we found the secret pizza place it was yummy! We cross the road to casino royale and the next thing I know...yep you guessed it...5:30am!

    Day 4
I had asked for a later check out and it was honored so we slept until noon today. Showered, packed, checked out and left our luggage with the guys out front. We took the tram from mirage to TI signed up for players cards and had good luck on slots there. Back to mirage to collect luggage and head to the airport.

I had the time of my life! I'm 43 and this trip was the best vacation ever!

I appreciate all the advice that was given to me on this forum...I literally took none of it LOL not on purpose of course but rather because it was more fun having NO plans and just seeing where our feet took us!

I learned a lot from this trip...
I'm glad we stayed at the mirage for our first trip, the room was nice as was the location but I really just need inexpensive and clean and I didn't care for the vibe at the mirage casino, I can't quite put my finger on it...

I expected things to be further apart than what it was...I had this mental picture and maybe it was because we were never in a hurry or rushing to get somewhere but we literally walked back from the Luxor to the mirage and enjoyed every bit of it

I do want to stay downtown on a future trip, we enjoyed the area and would like to explore it more

    Love the dry heat!

You really can survive on little to no sleep, dollar michelobs and Boody Mary's

We had the best CW service at Luxor, the worst was at Mirage.

So I'm headed back to Vegas in exactly 4 weeks with my sisters and cousins-Girls Trip! I'm booking Harrahs because, well, it's $57 a night and you all now know how I spent so much time in my room at the mirage in July...

    Thanks for reading

Thanks for telling us about your first trip. Sounds like you covered a lot of ground!

Smart move to contact the Mirage rep ahead of time, even if you didn't spend a lot of time in the room.

Great report! Glad you enjoyed your first time (and used every available minute of it:beer:).

Gotta say, this line cracked me up:

I've been pretty proud of a few of mine. But I don't think I've ever considered sending a pic to all my contacts! (Sorry, despite my 39 year old body, I'm still a 13 year old kid.) :rolleyes2:

That's why reading the forum is great! You learn about a ton of Vegas stuff and then you don't have to plan. Just wing it and you'll happen to come across things like the $1 Michelob's and Secret Pizza (and lap dances for the hubby!)

Good luck on your upcoming trip!

Great first report. Sounds like you had a great time and took in a lot of walking and strip schmoozing. Hopefully, you will enjoy your stay at Harrah's next time. That has become our favorite place to stay, Nothing fancy, but clean and comfy and the price is right. Like Mirage, you can't beat it for location.

Good Report! Bartop VP tends to be relatively good at Casino Royale, even though $1 Michelobs are the "Soup du Jour" there. I felt weird checking out the place without ordering one this last trip.

So glad you had a great trip! And you got bitten by the Vegas bug. I remember my first trip w/one of my sisters was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime type of thing. We were back 6 months later and now have a regular crew of us three sisters and our family friend.

Exactly - chalk up another couple bitten by The Vegas Bug.

The CDC could classify this as a virus...but a good one!

Our first trip was Jan 2010 and we proceeded to go four times in five months.
