    My Trip Report

As luck would have it, a sweet offer came thru for multiple nights with free play from CET and MGM during my suffer offers.
The front end comps were too good to pass by, so I am canning the Vegas vacation for

3 nights at Beau Rivage with $500 in free play

    and

3 nights in New Orleans with $250 in free play and some F/B comps

Add to this my MyVegas Comps, and some Landry's F&B credits I have, all said and done I am looking at $1800 in realized front end comp value.

I been to New Orleans plenty of times, but this will be first visit to Biloxi, MS. Any suggestions? Curious if anyone has any good recommendations of dining and
where the best table games / vp odds are.

I love the Beau! Don't miss BR Prime! The Coffee Bean is good. I also like pizza at Coast. ENJOY!

Half Shell Oyster House! Good enough you should pay for it. It's off-property but within walking distance of the BR. NOLA or Beau first?

We are starting at the Beau first. Offer was for weekday room comp S - Thur. We are checking out on Thursday and driving 90 miles to NOLA where I managed to get a room in Harrah's Hotel, we will see if it sticks or if they move us to a hotel partner. I have heard rumors of overbooking, however as a Diamond player never experienced it myself. I just crossed the threshold of Diamond again for another year, so the plan is to put any heavy play on wife's card, since we have both attached to the reservation.

I think I am also going to burn my $100 Diamond Celebration dinner in NOLA. Anyone dined at a partner resto they can recommend?

Of the ones on the list, I can recommend August and Commanders. It's been a while since I've been to either, but they have great reps and good creole/New Orleans (not cajun) food. A lot of people love Drago's but I never went. I doubt you'd want to go to NOLA and eat sushi or burgers, since you could get those just as easy in Hyde Park or Mt. Lookout.

Commanders Palace is pretty awesome place. Just figured out that Southern Decadence is going on at the same time we will be visiting NOLA, so that should be interesting.
I am definitely planning on blogging this trip, maybe live depending on coverage.

For VP unfortunately, Beau is generally a wasteland. VPFree2 says your best option is 8/5 JoB with a progressive at the bar. Harrah's Gulf Coast has 9/6 JoB with optional Quick Quads for 3-line quarters and dollar 9/6 DDB w/prog at the bar. Golden Nugget has some 9/6 DDB for as cheap as quarters. IP Biloxi has a lot of 9/6 DDB for quarters, and a dollar 9/6 DDB progressive at the bar. The soon-closing Margaritaville has a bunch of quarter 9/6 JoB and 9/6 DDB on the floor.

Lots of decent VP in Biloxi if you leave the Beau...

I'll still be tempted to go down there soon since myVegas offers rooms there now.

Yeah, I noticed that. I am planning on getting off property from Beau after burning the free play. Truth be told, I think the Golden Nugget did a great job at the remodel on the old Isle. The rooms especially with balconies look great. With good VP, its a no brainer to burn some cash down at that end of the gulf. The only downside I read, was the casino is a little smoky. Being a non smoker I hate that shit, so I will probably plan my visit early morning when the crowds are thin.

BTW why is Margaretville closing? Never catch on?

Well, im back from the Gulf Coast trip. Not too much to post about on the gaming front, outside of coming extremely close two times at hitting a Reel Power progressive up around $4800 at Harrah's New Orleans.
My initial impressions of the Beau Rivage were outstanding. Outside of some minor wear and tear, I found the property in excellent shape, staff super friendly, and property stink free of cigarette smoke. The parking garage was the
only thing I found dirty on the property.

Gaming was pretty tight down there, VP as previously mentioned was pretty unplayable at the .25 cent level except at the Golden Nugget. I had a good run one night at Blackjack running up at $200 buy in to $600 over a few good shoes.
This money however evaporated at $1 VP off property at the Hard Rock next door. Pool was very nice and their cabana rates reasonable. I could kill a day lounging and looking out at the Gulf of Mexico.

Harrah's New Orleans I had some luck on some $1 slots, hitting a few flaming sevens machines, for hits of $150, $300, and $350. However all VP, penny, and .25 video slots sucked my money down fast. I never saw a Quad for 400 hands of VP, had multiple 4 card draws to Royal come up blank, and barley saw any Full Houses and Outside straights made. All total I racked up about 2700 TR points over 3 days. Regarding the property Harrah's Hotel was pretty disappointing once you get past the lobby. The rooms were showing their wear like most other properties in NOLA. The buffet was a dump and the food uneatable (I only went due to free passes), and Harrah's cut back on partner restaurants so only had 3 choices for $100 Diamond dinner. Diamond lounge was great though and Ernie poured them strong and quick.

City was hot and sweaty with temps in 90's and 70% humidity, definitely not something I want to experience again in August. However in the evening when weather cooled down, it was a great place to walk around and take in the city and clubs.
Wife and I had a great time, and with the amount of upfront comps I got this trip, it took the sting out of money lost. Having evaluated both Beau Rivage and Biloxi, I enjoyed the gaming more in Biloxi but the sites of NOLA more. In hindsight I wish I would have spent more time on the Gulf hanging at the beach.

I will post some photos later on this thread, net result of the trip was down $900 - 1000, but figuring in comp values I managed to be $200 in the black.

    Nice report, thanks.

I didn't notice your thread until now, but for future reference, the Palace Casino Resort in Biloxi is smoke-free. It's located across the highway from Golden Nugget, near the bridge to Ocean Springs.

Were you at Harrah's NOLA on the weekdays? I am not sure I have ever encountered Ernie in the Diamond Lounge. However, I have just been there on Friday through Sunday. Just came back from there this past Sunday. The weekend crew, Jimmy and Jeremy pour them good too. I do like that lounge.

Nice report. Sorry about that VP.

Thanks for the correction! Jermey and Jimmy are the bartenders at NOLA DL. JIMMY not Ernie (who works diamond lounge at Harrahs LV) was our bartender Thursday with Jeremy working on Sun afternoon. I probably saw you in the diamond lounge. Wife and I were there Wens / Thursday night and Sunday night for cocktails in between drinking in the French Quarter. Kinda disappointed they close up at 8pm on Sunday, but I guess they want people in the high limit areas.
That bank of progressive Flaming Seven's machines in the high limit area kept me going this trip, sadly I missed taking the progressive off two of them.

I probably missed you then. I left the lounge Sunday at 4:15pm to head back to the hotel and then airport.

    Yes, Jimmy is the man.
