    Two quick questions

    1. Should we guarantee 2 queen beds at MC for $30. I'm only worried because we will be checking in near 11pm on Friday the 12th. I was told they have more queen rooms then they have king rooms. Has anyone not gotten a room they asked for? Do they assign rooms out before hand or when you arrive?

    2. On Monday the 15th we will be moving to the Mirage. Again should we pay for early check in or because its Monday will they have rooms available? If not we can get a late check out at MC.

    Thanks

I would pay for the peace of mind of getting the two queen beds on that weekend...it is a fight weekend and you will be arriving late. By 11pm Friday I expect it to be super busy.

As for paying early at Mirage? I wouldn't suggest it. You should be able to get a room early enough or just drop your bags with the bell desk until one is ready. The mass exodus from town Sunday should mean rooms will be ready pretty early.

+1 I'd pay the extra as well. On the weekends, rooms with double beds are highly sought after since there are a lot of groups/people sharing rooms. The weekdays are a bit different, since there are a lot of business/convention guests in town.

The one time I stayed at MC I did not get the King bed I had reserved, and I maybe checked in at 7 p.m.. Given, it was a myVegas comp and I have no status to speak of with MLife, but yes, their reservation system can be fluid.

You do pay for your choice now don't you? I haven't made a reservation in Vegas in a long time that didn't ask King or Queen when I booked... Otherwise, yes I would guarantee your choice. If it's gonna be a problem to have a king bed, then you want to pay for it... espically Friday, busiest night of the week in Vegas, and checking in that late, who knows..

I would check out of MC, head over to Mirage, check your bags, then you can try and check in, before noon might be pushing it, but anytime after that they will surely try... if they can't they will usually check you in, and then call you when your room is ready. I've never once been asked to pay to check in early, or told to come back later.

    I wouldn't pay for either.

I've stayed at Monte Carlo twice - and both times it was King rooms that they were lacking. They seem to have an overabundance of queens.

And I've stayed at Mirage three times, checked in early every time with no problem.

That's what I was told but I'll try calling in a few days. See if they can assign a queen to me.

    I know it's only $30 but I feel I shouldn't have to pay

I didn't believe the bit about having mostly Queen rooms, so I looked at the floor plan on room77.com, and I picked a high floor and a lower floor and clicked on each room. Monte Carlo has 3 wings, and with an oddball thrown in here and there, they have Kings on one side of the hall in each wing and Queens on the other, so the ratio is about 50-50, which is way way higher than any other Strip hotel I know of.

Operationally, if a hotel is going to offer a guaranteed room type and is also guaranteeing your reservation the first night with a full deposit, they oughta have a way to hold a Queen if you're paying the fee.

Any other hotel, I'd say checking in at 11:00pm on a Friday on a fight weekend there wouldn't even be any point in paying the fee for a Queen because you'd never get it anyway. But Monte Carlo looks like you'll have a shot.

Mirage, go on over at 11:00am Monday, they'll put you in a room as soon as they have one. I wouldn't pay for early check in unless I absolutely had to be in a room early and didn't care what type or where in the building.
