Citycenter seemed Meh and overhyped to me. And believe it or not, I wasn't a big fan of Cosmo the whole 10 minutes I was there. Getting lost going there may had a bit to do with it, but it's all good. I should give it another shot.

I can't get a water cannon that shoots 400+ feet at home, so in Vegas it's a treat.

I found the $1 (or maybe it was $2) tacos at Bally's Tequila bar to be HIGHLY overrated. I am far from a gourmand, but they were barely Taco Bell quality, and for me, it's worth a little more money for something edible.

That's why we call if flatbread. It allows for a bounty of flavors and textures and combos, and then for those who get easily confused there also can be "traditional." But, of course, what is "traditional" in the world of pizza? :wink2: I guess by default if it's not Neapolitan it's not pizza.

Can food that only costs $1 actually be rated highly? Excuse me, HIGHLY rated. I'm just guessing whoever told you they were the best taco ever was probably pretty intoxicated when they ate them.

Having a monorail stop in MGM that takes 30 minutes to walk too... Lol, way overrated considering you can probably walk to the next stop faster!

    - Comps - some people use terms like "investing" and "building" for comps, when it's nothing but a fraction of your potential losses. When you buy everything you wish on your own, and gamble low stakes (or stakes at which you're not chasing comps), you'll have money left over (hint: this includes the "free" drinks while gaming).
    - Monorail - 8 trips and never been on it
    - Las Vegas sign - again, 8 trips and never took a picture of it
    - Bottle service - a couple hundred bucks per person just for eye candy?
    - Eiffel Tower
    - Off-strip casinos - excluding locals, what's the point of going to Vegas to stay & play at an off-strip place? There are many Indian casinos all around the country, where you can easily drive or take a quick & cheap flight.
    - Buffets - pretty stale food at ridiculous prices, and the quality is always going down
    - Dealer advice - you have to know your game, the dealer is not your friend, they rely on the well-being of the casino to keep their jobs. I've seen so many cases where dealers gave wrong advice either willingly or because they had no clue.

I agree with the off-strip thing. Maybe before casinos were popping up all over the States it would be good to venture off the beaten path a bit. But now I just don't see the draw. But then again that is what makes Vegas great is that the option is there for people who do enjoy it. There is something for everyone!

Somewhat disagree on the dealer advice....obviously one should know the game but live casino sessions are different than playing on an app. In blackjack the strategy cards are very helpful but on other games I have solicited dealer advice and they have been helpful for the most part.

I tried Let It Ride once and the lady was super helpful...no house bias on her end.

And in craps the dealers helping the newbies is not slanted towards the house...I have seen many, and had some help me this way when I started, who will guide you through the initial intimidation of being new.

I respectfully disagree about comps being overrated for a several reasons.
    1) Some high-end suites are not available to the general public, and are only available to high-rollers who generate a certain level of theoretical
    2) It is true that comps are a fraction of potential losses (30 to 40% of theoretical), BUT this effectively lowers the house edge by 30 to 40%....what's overrated about that?
    3) I personally like the service provided by a competent host, and being treated like a VIP (i.e go to front of line when the buffet line an hour wait, being able to make last minute reservations at restaurants that are completely booked etc.) I am certainly NOT a VIP in real life, so this is a real treat.

Now, all of this happen because I am going to gamble the high stakes that I do, ANYWAY (raise your hand if you are like me), so why not take advantage/maximize any comps?

I thought they were pretty good for what they were. 3 tacos and a beer for $10 or so. It was fine for what it was. But really how good can a taco be? I thought they were tasty and served their purpose.

I've been to Vegas about a dozen times and have never even seen the Vegas sign. I'm heading out there in October and plan to see it. I'm also hoping to get a photo out of a limo's sunroof!

I finally went to the sign on my 13th trip earlier this month. It was worth seeing but I would not go back again.

I found the Shark Reef pretty disappointing...especially after you have toured the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.

Say you play $5/spin on high denom slots, with 10% house edge. 20 spins per minute, 2 hours of play in a day, your theo is $1200/day. Through a host, you probably get $480 in comps.
And another person plays $0.25/spin on penny slots, with 15% house edge. 20 spins per minute, 2 hours of play in a day, your theo is $90/day.

What I am trying to say is, if you're the second player, you can buy whatever the host gave you at $480 and still play your slots, to lose about $90/day. You will end up spending $570. Compared to the first player, you will save $630/day.

What I am saying is you too can VIP treat yourself, with your own money, without paying a premium to the casino for it; and yet still have the adrenaline rush coming from gambling.

May I try to solve that? You both are right.

eksantirik: Right. Never play higher denom just for comps. Never play at all for comps.

PayTriple: Right. Whatever you play, comps are valuable. Never play without card inserted or shown.
