Villas butler/staff tipping

Hi folks. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with staying at the some of the pricier villas in Vegas. I know there have been threads regarding tipping at suites/penthouses which have included the MGM mansion, Cosmo penthouses, or Wynn fairway villas, but was looking for some input on the tipping etiquette for the properties like the Caesars villas or Wynn villas, or Chairman's suite at the Palazzo.

Was lucky to get an invite to the new Caesars villa in the NOBU tower this upcoming weekend for three nights. Normally I leave a couple hundred a day for the butlers if services are used and $40 to $100 for housekeeping (depending how messy it is), but considering the size of the villa and the multiple Butler staff, I'm now confused what to do.

They are also providing a private chef for in room dining on Saturday for lunch and dinner. As long as we provide the type of food we'd like a few hours ahead of time, they would prepare everything in suite. Don't know the proper etiquette on this one as well. Tip group as whole, or chef's group and Butler staff separately?

Never had this kind of treatment before, so a little concerned. Asked host about what to do and was told do what you normally do.... Which doesn't help. Maybe some of the senior members can help and chime in? Normally when I travel with the wife, I always refuse the Butler service and rarely stay in the room, but traveling with two other couples, so don't want to look like a Vegas newbie. Lol.

I'll try to post somewhat of a trip report, but I'll throw up a few pics if not a report. Reading some of the other members TRs I wouldn't want to put myself to shame by trying to do what they do.

 

Judging by the "normal" gratuities you have been leaving (way out of my league), I think you are a very generous tipper and shouldn't be concerned. Do what feels right!

 

Sounds like $100 to $200 per day is reasonable for butler services, and $100 per chef, if they come in to make your meal, would be reasonable.
Always keep in mind that a 20% gratuity may ALREADY be included as part of your bill (at least it is for Cosmo Bungalow suite butler services).

 

I'm not familiar w/ the Villas at CET, but have stayed at others. As for tipping butlers, just know they share the tips. As for amount, that's difficult. I'm probably pretty tight when it comes to that. The casino can tip them as far as i'm concerned. They are automatically a part of the room and its not as if I asked for them. That said, everyone has to make a living so I do tip, just probably not as much as others. Something like $100 a day is in my mind sufficient. As for housekeepers, that too is subject to debate, but I personally have never and don't plan on ever tipping them. That is a part of the room, not some additional service. I provide services for my work and i'm never tipped. With that in mind, I always tip my drivers, bellmen, and often the doormen. Sometimes, depending on how I am doing on any particular trip or even for the year, I will tip my hosts; but that is always in the form of us going out to an opposing property and my buying him in with chips, drinks, and sometimes strippers...Anyway, my two cents.

 

I always tip housekeeping even if it's just a few dollars. They probably get paid the least out of all the people you listed (drivers, bellman, etc) and probably work the hardest.

 

If you're at a CP villa it's very likely my girlfriend will be the person that greets you (she's the hotel manager for CP). If her initials are MS on her name badge it's her.

If you let me know what services you expect to use (other than listed) I'll ask her what they "expect" in tips. Most of the time it's a lot less than people think.

Example: she's over the moon when a big VIP group leave her $100 tip.

 

Ive always wondered this myself if you stay in the sky lofts. When you have a butler at your disposal, do you tip them per day?

I know they show you the room, set it up, bring you what you like, take your clothes out to be pressed. How much over a 4 day trip do you tip?

I would love JDVegas to chime in and how he tipped since he recently stayed there.

Is it the same butler or do they change shifts? Should you tip everytime they help you or only at the end?

Your host is right just tip what you have been tipping. Enjoy your trip and clear out the tray of the Blue Chips.

 

Thanks for all the responses! I was just curious if it was much different than the regular penthouses. I just figured since the villas were 3-4 times bigger, the tipping etiquette might be different. However, for the in-suite chef, this is a first for me. I'll just wing-it and see how difficult we make it for him to prep and/or how great the food will be.

Wigwam, I don't remember if I've had the pleasure of meeting the CP hotel manager/your girlfriend, I'll keep an eye out. The only lady person I remember has the intials GV.

I guess some might think I overtip, but honestly I can't remember the last time I've paid for anything except for tips, even covering most off-property outings. Oftentimes, my host will comp even my gratuities for on-property room billings so might as well be generous to others as well. IMO karma goes around, so I'd rather be on the upside.

 

Yeah, I get in trouble fast when those blue puppies start rolling on the table....
