I would just valet park, at maybe the Gold Nugget, Fremont or the D Unless it's a super busy weekend it will be easy.

I agree. If I have to pay for parking. Better to valet.

    Thanks.

MSS, free with validation to those who are gambling in the casino or eating at any of Main Street Station's restaurants.
Not sure how much you have to gamble but I did notice the BConnected Kiosk had a validate parking option.

The only place downtown, that you have to pay or validate when valet parking, was Downtown Grand. That may have changed but I don't think so.

200 points for ruby members. Free for sapphire and emerald. 200 pts is pretty easy at Boyd if you have any intention of playing there. It's only cycling $100 thru a slot or $200 thru VP.

But if valet takes care of validating, then we may just be doing that this trip.

When we were in town in June, we used the valet at the Cal. Never had to validate, when we were ready to leave just gave the ticket to the valet and got our truck....although it could have changed since then.

When we visited the Downtown Grand, shortly after it opened, we did valet and I don't remember any validation or hoop jump.

The one place I know where you can get free parking is to valet at the El Cortez, then go into the casino as if you're gonna play, and then go right out the corner entrance to the bars and such.

You used to be able to park in the El Cortez garage, but the last time we tried it they had a cop out there checking for room keys.

(hopefully) you will tip the attendant when you valet so it isn't really "free".

There are side streets north of the El Cortez that you can park on if you want totally free parking. I'm surprised that downtown workers who don't have parking aren't parking there but I do see some cars parked on the side streets.

The main El Cortez parking garage (closest to the casino) is mainly reserved for hotel guests and people who play there. I think you just show your player's card and the guard at the entrance will let you in (most times). The only times they restricted parking was during big events, then they only allowed hotel guests to park in that lot. The El Cortez does have a 2nd parking structure located across the street (east) of the Cabana suites. I don't see a security guard at the entrance of that garage most of the time but they sometimes have a guard there during busy weekend evenings and during big events. With the addition of the container park and other clubs in the area, people were using the EC to park so EC management put a guard at the entrance to the parking lot. I wouldn't be surprised that like other downtown casinos they would institute a free parking for players and people eating at their restaurants but so far they haven't done that yet.

We stayed at DTG in late June, and they gave me a ticket that I had validated at checkin. Not a big deal if your going to eat or gamble.

When you say mss are you talking about the big lot across the street from mss? I used to park here and then validate inside at the booth. I am sapphire but used to park at 4 queens before they changed rules. Would fremont offer free parking for sapphire as we'll? Thanks for the info.

Parking should be free at the MSS and Cal if you are a sapphire card member. Just show them your card when entering the parking lot.

For non Sapphire card members MSS and Cal now have new rules for parking. You pay the attendant $3 to get into the parking lot. If you don't eat or play there then you just pay the $3 and leave when you like, the parking lot attendant doesn't check you when leaving. If you put in play or eat at their restaurants they will (should) validate your parking ticket and the parking attendant will reimburse you when you are leaving. To get validation based on your play you need to go to the player's club booth and they will check on your play and validate if you put in enough play.

The MSS parking garage now has an attendant but the attendant isn't always there, if the gate is open with no attendant then just drive into the lot and park for free. As for the open air lot across the street, there is an attendant a lot of the time but like the parking garage, if the gate is open and no attendant then go ahead and park for free.

Of course many people just valet, I don't think there are rules for valet parking but you never know. Of course you end up tipping the valet so you do pay a little anyway.

    Downtown parking

I want to go back to my roots and start going to the downtown casinos again. Where is the best place to park? I went down there about two years ago, wanted to gamble at the Golden Nugget, and they wouldn't let me valet OR self-park. These casinos make it difficult for me to give them their business!
