"Shoot to Win" Craps machine, doesn't seem so random anymore

Back in early 2012, I had a blast playing on the "Shoot to Win" craps machines, as the dice seemed to fall at random. Now, after playing several sessions at different casinos in 2014, the dice appear to be loaded. I've seen the dice roll around the bubble as if they had a mind of their own to make a certain number come up. Sometimes 7, and sometimes the point. Is this my imagination? After a while, I started trying to view other players that were betting big on certain numbers, and laying that number for less $$$, usually with success. And I had a bit more success playing the Don't.

    Anyone else notice this?

    No.

The chance you observed a statistically meaningful number of rolls is close to zero.

It might appear that way during a single session, but there's no way they're loaded. The dice are just very light weight, that's why they're prone to a lot of late movement.

The very rounded corners of these large die make it very easy for them to keep moving.

I played these machines a lot last week. out of about 6 different sessions we came out ahead twice, just about breaking even for the 6 sessions.

I had good luck on these machines last year in Vegas. They seemed to go a long time without rolling 7's.. I then tried the same machine at Harrah's in New Orleans this past spring and it was the opposite. A lot of craps and sevens. Could not seem to win a thing using my tried and tested method, pass line with odds, place 6 and 8.. So the same thing occurred to me.. Maybe they are not as "Random" as one would think. This happened over the course of several nights/sessions. I finally gave up on it.

I tried these twice and just couldn't get into it. Craps is my game and to me nothing is better than being able to feel the chips and have the human interaction.

If the dice are loaded, then you shouldn't be talking about it, you should be mortgaging your house and taking advantage of it.

Random as far as I have seen. Some long rolls and some very short rolls.

I guess timing is everything. I had three quick seven outs. I was down quite a bit when a friend starts to play.
Things turned hot. Long rolls. I am digging out of a whole but he is all profit. If only I started five minutes later.

Maybe the next inovation in mechanical craps will be blank dice - like Big Julie's dice in "Guy's and Dolls."

Nathan Detroit: Big Julie, There are no spots on these dice.

Big Julie: I had them made special. But I remember where they used to be.

Don't get me wrong, to me there is really no substitute for the real thing, however it's a lot more relaxing to sit and enjoy a drink and still play your favorite game. So if you need to take a load off so to speak it works great.

So true!! The last couple of trips all my Craps play has been on these, no idiots putting their hands out as you throw, no squeezing in like sardines on a full table, comfy chairs and actually better drink service and the camaraderie with fellow players is there just like playing traditional craps, when I first saw them I thought BLASEPHEMY but have come to really enjoy them.

I could say the same thing about any live craps session I've ever had. Sometimes everyone is hot, sometimes everyone is cold and sometimes it's choppy. It's just variance. Like Chuck said, if you really did find a biased machine you could make a fortune!

Huge fan of bubble craps. Found this all over on our last trip in September of 2013. Had 5 guys playing at random times at various casinos. Across three days only one person on one day had a losing session out of probably 15 sessions total. Very relaxing, nice pace of play, and good for a low roller only looking to bet a few bucks at a time. Can't wait to play it again.

I'm not sure about the Fremont, but I know they have them at the Plaza and Four Queens.

My cousin loves playing the "Bubble" craps machine.
He says he can make a lot of different bets, and change them around much easier than if he could with a live dealer, especially at a crowded real craps table.
Also he doesn't have to tip a live dealer.

There are only two limitations on these machines that I can see.
    1) The max limits are less than at a real craps table
    2) You don't earn any comps

Some of the bubble craps machines accept your players card. They usually pay points at a reduced rate like video poker.

"Video Poker" rate is the best you can usually hope for. The last time I played at a CET property on this game (Dec. 2012) it was $45 per tier point. Most VP at the time was $10 per tier point.
