LVA and a few other sites are reporting that, unofficially, Ellis Island has bought the Super 8 Motel next door. To start offering comped rooms??

I will stay just about anywhere in Vegas, but I don't think the Super 8 is one of them. Makes me nervous. :) Although I do love Ellis Island, and I thought they already owned the hotel!

I stayed there a couple of times a few years back. No problems, small room but it was fine. It has a airport shuttle and free coffee, cap. in lobby not gourmet, but free.

I assumed they did as well, fwiw. If I, Mr. Flea, could get it comped, might have to stay there too. They do have 9/6 DDB w/quick quads, after all.

Check in should be a replica of immigrants coming into this country circa 1900 with long lines, new name assignments and quarantines until proven healthy, you know for that authentic feel.

A dealer at Ellis Island told me a couple of weeks ago that they had, indeed, purchased the Super 8 and plan to conduct some fairly extensive renovations/refurbishing of the motel (which is apparently in pretty bad shape). This is in keeping with similar spiffing-up operations that have happened at the casino itself.

I didn't ask about comped rooms but, when I renewed my players club card--they have updated that program, as well--I believe I saw on the chart of benefits that comped rooms was one of the benefits at a higher level. So it looks like a possibility.

This was hard to believe, but it looks like you're right. I'm seeing $2.99 per person per day. It does say that a free airport shuttle is included in that price, which could make it a reasonable deal for a single person.

We had to stay there one night when our flight was cancelled. That's where USAirways put us up at. They do have a shuttle that picks you up at the airport and takes you back to the airport. The rooms are tiny and only have one bed in them.

To be fair, they do offer 2 Queen rooms and 1 King rooms according to their website.

Of course, it also says its "one of the best hotels near the Vegas Strip".

I stayed there for one night, a late arrival, the free shuttle was nice, but I had to wait almost a half hour for it. I had a funky first floor inside corner room that had two doors, it was pretty big with two queens. It was tough to get a cab out the next morning, so I just walked over to the 7-11 and grabbed one as the driver had stopped for a coffee. Overall, it had a little bit of a creepy vibe, but close to E.I. and great beer.

With a week day rate of $50 and a weekend rate near $100 I think its a hard sell for anyone with a players card at CET.

I don't always get comped rooms, but when I add my brothers TR card to the reservation as well as mine...rates really drop. They like to see 2 TR cards on 1 reservation for small time guys.

As much as I enjoy the steak special and the whole "dive" feel of the casino, I wouldn't stay in that Super 8 even if it was the last room available in all of Vegas.

EI is one of those places you "get in and get out". That parking lot is hinky at night.

Thats the type of room I had some years ago, when the area was worse due to the construction of the Platinum and its temporary"residents".
