I received the mailer and made the reservation for late august. I assume it's a normal deluxe room.

Question - anyone know how easy/hard it is to upgrade to a suite with this offer?

I would call the host office and tell them what you want....Doesn't hurt to try...

The $20 trick worked like a charm for me about two weeks ago - but that probably depends on when you check in. I checked in on a Monday, and we noticed that our upper floor (25th) seemed empty - we heard someone else in a room once, but apart from that we encountered absolutely no one else on the floor - not even a housekeeper.

Do yourself a favor and give Curt a call. He's a great guy and helped us when we stayed a night at the Plaza a couple of weeks ago...

I agree with the above posts about Curt. The other Plaza hosts are also good. They're not full of tricks and seem to bend over backwards for you.

Just booked for the first weekend in September on this offer, does anyone know if we have to pay resort fees when booking a comped room. feadolphus--putting my mom in a suite would make her life. We are not necessarily high rollers, she has a serious gambling problem on nickel slots :), but not sure if it reaches High Roller status. We are coming out to celebrate 1 year cancer free and I was going to try to sweet talk to check in person, but if there is anything you can do to help that would be awesome.

From my experience at the Plaza about 4 weeks ago, there was no resort fee on a comped stay.
