Hey robpitts, I'll be in Vegas September 4th-8th, staying at the Riviera with my girlfriend. Send me a message if you'd be up for drinks and a friendly get together.

Is this your first time, Rob?

Mirage is a great place to stay. Excellent location to many other casinos and hotels. You're next to Caesar's Palace which has what many seem to say is the best show in the city right now, Absinthe.

Get a bus pass, this will save a lot of walking. If you want to do something at one end of the strip, let's say lunch an gamble & dinner the other end of the strip you can without a taxi fee. My wife & I do this each trip, then we don't have to worry to much about grouping our whole vacation. You can also use it to take the duce downtown, which I recommend you do one night. If you don't you'll miss out on a big part of Vegas,

Sounds like a great idea vegaskmr. Where can bus passes be purchased? I am going to be in Vegas Sept 2 to 9 with my wife for 10th anniversary. We are booked into the Rio, so a bus pass will definately be used. This will be my first trip to Vegas, so being a retired professional photojournalist am looking forward to some "tourist shots" as well as "quirky and offbeat" photos. Any suggestions?

If you like Cirque du Soleil, I think Mystere at Treasure Island (TI) is their best show. There's a free tram ride between Mirage and TI. Jersey Boys at Paris is a great Broadway musical about Frankie Valli's life in his professional singing days. I've seen many Broadway shows in NY and LV, and I think Jersey Boys was in the top two. BTW, Vegas has those ticket places on the strip that sell discount tickets. I know there's one right in front of Bally's and one near MGM. There are others, but I don't know where.

I'm seeing Zarkana at Aria on August 31. I'm not sure what to expect since I've heard mixed reviews.

As for restaurants Vegas has a lot, many which have their flagship location in NY. Many celebrity chefs have restaurants in LV although some are good and some are average to me. Since I don't know what your price point is, and everybody has different tastes, I will only tell you the places I liked. You can look at the websites for the menu. Either Stripsteak at Mandalay Bay or SW Steakhouse at Wynn for steak. Tao at Venetian for Asian food with a nightclub feel. Diners get in free to their nightclub next door. Mon Ami Gabi for brunch at Paris. Bouchon at Venetian for breakfast. Canaletto at Venetian shopping mall for Italian. There are many others in the genres that I've mentioned, but those are my personal favorites. I always get a $20 sandwich at Carnegie Deli in the Mirage although I don't like it as much as the one in NY.

If I was going by myself which I do many times, I would say, "Let's grab a drink," but since I'm with people, we have a busy schedule planned. Hopefully, someone arranges a VMB trip sometime. But if you happen to be at Paris starting August 31, let me know by sending me a PM. I'll be leaving on the morning of September 4.

    Tim
