Going to Atlantic City

Going to AC next Wednesday thru Sunday. Going to be playing at Caesars and Ballys. Any suggestions as to where to eat? Both in the casinos and out . Thanks.

 

Let me say one thing: If you're CET, make sure before you sit down whether the place in question allows RC's for payment or grants RC's if you pay with cash/credit. Some places *seem* like they would allow RCs to be earned or spent, but in actuality they don't. I wish I could help you more, but I can't remember specifics about which exact places, so I thought I would caution you to ask if RC's are significant to you.

 

If you end up near the Tropicana there is this bar called the Chelsea - has really good food also.

Its beside the the Tropicana - its perfect when your ready to escape the casino.

 

At Caesars: Neros. It's upstairs towards the Boardwalk. Not that easy to find if you don't find the right stairway but it's very good with great views. It's next to the 7 Star Lounge. There is also a gelato place that looks great.
In the Pier adjacent to Caesars is Buddakan for excellent Asian food and The Continental for more eclectic fare.
Bally's is bringing in some new restaurants and I think the Buco de Beppo just might be open but the fancier Italian restaurant upstairs, Arturo's is very good. I don't recommend the 6ix Bistro and the Asian place at Bally's. Harry's Oyster Bar on the Boardwalk level between the Bally's and Wild West is very good but don't think you can use your RC credits there.

Outside the casinos is Dock's Oyster House (same owner's as Harry's). It gets crowded on the weekends there. Carmine's at the Trop is dependable red sauce Italian and lots of food.

 

If you have a car there is a small restaurant called Gilchrist's over in Gardner's Basin, located at the North end of Atlantic City near the AC Aquarium. They are only open for breakfast and lunch and serve what a lot of people say are the best blueberry pancakes. Plus, it is great atmosphere. You have your choice of eating inside or outside. If it is a nice day sit outside right on the water. And if you get a table in the sun and it is too hot for you, just ask for an umbrella and they will set one up for you. It is a place we make a point of going to every trip.

Another Italian place worth trying is Angelo's located in Ducktown very near Caesar's.

 

The two "landmark" places that people recommend are Whitehouse Subs and The Irish Pub. Just ask anybody for locations. It would help to know what type of places you are looking for then you would get a ton of replies.

 

The new 'landmark' place on the boardwalk is Landshark, across from Resorts. Was there last weekend for our farewell to Showboat, what a great place to hang out. Drinks were great, food was fantastic.

Found out that Resorts has Miss Stud for $5. Bally's it's $10 as is most games. We also went to Golden Nugget. The hotel is beautiful and the gaming is excellent. Best pay VP I've seen in AC, and they too have Miss Stud for $5 as well as BJ and just about everything else for $5. We should reach Total Rewards platinum on our next trip (aug 10th, freebie tickets to see Donny and Marie), then we are going to start staying at Golden Nugget. They said they are working on connecting the players cards with LV and hope to get the benefit of both cities with one card, which will work for us downtown as we no longer stay on the strip, and the reason why we are moving away from CET.

 

I'm trying to decipher the "Best pay VP I've seen in AC" part. As far as I know they don't have anything better than 9-6 Jacks (99.54%) which many others in town also have,
I agree with you that the onetime Trump Castle is a very nice place. Always has been. I can remember their $4.95 prime rib buffet 25 years ago that you had to make a reservation at a booth to get for.

 

I'll second dock's oyster bar. Not far from ballys on a straight line, a few blocks into town. Great food on all accounts, and the service is top notch. The actual raw bar is good to get some seafood and drinks while you wait for a table.

OTOH, i disagree about the 6th bistro (or bistro 6, they changed the name a few times). Maybe not so much for dinner, but the breakfast i had there was great. It was an oscar style crabmeat omelet. Never had anything like that since. It was damn near perfect. Even though our waitress was rather surly, the food was reason enough to come back. However i have not stayed at Ballys since.

If you make it up the boardwalk to Revel, they have a really awesome selection of restaurants. The whiskey village had one of the best burgers i've ever tasted, not to mention the duck fat fries and baked clams. you really can't go wrong with any place there IMO.

Lastly, if you can manage reservations, Chief Vola is one of the best Italian joints you will ever experience on any and every level. Only downside is that it is really tough to get a reservation, and the place is basically a basement in a house.

At Caesars I'll second Buddakan and also add Souzai if you like sushi, both are in the Pier. There's also a Morton's in the main casino area which is always a good choice if you want steak. At Bally's the only restaurant I've eaten at was Nanking which I like both in that location and others I've been too, its sort of Pan-Asian/Indian fusion, but I don't see it on their website anymore so maybe that's closed and its where they opened up the Guy Fieri? In any case it was on the 2nd floor near the cafe.

Lots of good suggestions have been posted, it would help if you can specify what types of food and prices you're interested in.

 

6th Bistro in Bally's is gone replaced by Buca de Peppo. (Spelling?). Guy Fieri's place took over The Reserve. Arturo's is still there on the 6th floor and is very good.

 

Call me crazy but I think Sack O' Subs @ Ballys has some fantastic wings.

 

I like Mia's at Ceasars a lot. Great service and great food. Near the lobby by check in.

 

There is no 100% payout in AC, so 99.54 is pretty good. I also played 9/6 DDB there which is best you're going to find at any casino there.
