    Thanks for sharing.
I am trying to eat healthy and cut out processed foods.
One can no longer be too careful.

That's really interesting. I suspected this, as much flavored sparkling water claims "natural" flavorings, but that seems impossible to be anything but chemicals.

I'm surprised about Kashi. My mom loves Kashi products. I'm going to send this to her.

This Kashi thing is old news.

Great post, Joe, a reminder that for all the resources available at our fingertips, supposed oversight entities out there, we truly are at the mercy of The Big Lie for much of what's coming along our food supply chain.

Is it the juice of fruit? Or some kinda liquid with some fruit something? Or salt. I love all the "low-salt" and "reduced-salt" products on the shelf that still give you some huge percentage of your recommended daily intake in one shot of saline assault; it's "lower" only in terms of being less so than the same brand's full-tilt version. Soups, boxed foods, prepared stocks, frozen foods, those handy already roasted chickens, all are huge culprits.

Does anyone think about the spice rub or mix they buy in a pack or bottle? Spin it around. Salt will be #1 or #2 or #3 on the list. Simply buy pure dried herbs and spices, not most "rubs" or "powders." Yes, food needs salt. Add it yourself.

The organic milk I have been drinking seems to be extremely temperature sensitive...

We are lucky enough to be only about 20 miles from this place:
    http://www.thespicehouse.com/info/milwaukee-spice-store.html

They are part of the Penzeys family, but independent and so much cheaper.

About every 3 months we make a run for spices and my wife makes up her own rubs and one of the best, no salt, homemade Cajun mixes around. I told her she should market it. We use it on everything and our friends are always asking for more.

    I'm a little confused here ?
    *
I always thought ( or read ) that the use of the terms
"Natural"......"All Natural" were just buzz words made up by some Ad guys ?
These words don't have to mean anything....or don't mean anything.
    ?
I know "organic" has to live up to regulations of some sorts.......but "Natural" ?......no way, I thought ?

Some of the deadliest poisons on the planet are all natural. Just not being created in lab is no guarantee of safety.

True, in the US, "natural" on food packaging has no quantifiable meaning.

    Very, very true!

As with, you know, life - caveat emptor. Read labels as needed. Eat whole foods. Garden - it's fun getting dirt under your fingernails

Organic is largely a self-policing concept. And what is organic? Can there even be organic in an agriculture so entwined with the internal combustion engine, chemicals, airborne pollutants, whatever is in the water system if the organic stuff isn't grown under a dome with deep-well water from some long-ago ice age? I guess things can be kinda organic or mostly organic. But bugs and birds going from field to field don't only recognize organic or other.
