First time post, been reading up on comps.

I've been with total rewards Diamond for the longest time, have always just used the TR website to book comp rooms -good enough for me (never assigned/request host).

i started playing at Mlife properties this year from basically zero sapphire to now platinum 300k tier (all thru gambling) in 3 months time.

I havent been seeing any free room comp offers on mlife.com at any property best is "lower platinum rates", so I tried emailing a couple host at different properties.
Over Memorial weekend Mirage host comped me 4 nights, over EDC weekend Monte Carlo host comped me 5 nights, over July 4 weekend TheHotel comped me 4 nights.
This coming weekend host comped with 3 nights at Vdara.

Just you give you a fuller picture, i went on each properties website to get a roster of the host contact info and emailed nearly all of them, one or two would get back to me and give me the comp rooms.

Whats is going on here? are the host at each property taking a chance that i will play

During the July4 trip, i played entirely at Aria (7hr session), then when i asked my Mandalay host to take care some room charges, he replied "i can only comp you based on your play here at Mandalay which was zero"
i thought we could play anywhere with the mlife family.....

Gambling habits: play baccarat $100-500 per hand for many hours, i'll be honest i do not play every hand i wait for patterns, sometimes jumping tables. i tend to grind it out with $100 bets, until a pattern i like appears then up bets. if i had to rough estimate i say on average i participate in about 50% of the hands in a baccarat shoe.

Mlife works a little differently from TR. You can play at any mlife property and gain TC and EC. Your host, however, only gets credit for the play you put it in at his or her property. So if you stayed at Mandalay Bay, but stiffed them and did all your play at Aria, your MB host doesn't really have an incentive to give you any additional comps (although you did earn EC at Aria, which you can use for food and room charges). Not really sure why you would stay at Mandalay Bay if you wanted to engage in long gambling sessions half way up the Strip, but to each their own.

Your assumption regarding play is correct. Each host at the different mlife property is taking the chance (actually, probably assuming) that you will play where they are giving you the free room. They can see how much you have played at other mlife properties and the upfront room comp is based on that. A word of warning, though. If you keep booking comped rooms through hosts and then play elsewhere, eventually those hosts are going to stop comping you rooms. So pick the handful of mlife properties you like best, develop your relationships with your hosts at those properties, and play where you stay.

    Good luck this weekend

yes mlife is the opposite of cet , some people love it as host at each property fight for you i hate it.

basicaly it doesnt pay at mlife to spread your action unless you have a large bankroll, concenttrate on the one property you like.

you will get corprate offers and you can contact vip services or a host to get free rooms if your play desreves it, unlike cet mlife gives you 3 nites free usualy after that you need a host and a good relatioship to get more.

for example a host at aria can still get you show tickets fot any mlife event or comp out and resturant at mlife property but he wants your play at his property were at cet your host gets its were every you play and you only need one host . i find it much easier at cet ,alot cheaper on my pocket thats just my opinion ther perfer people fighting over them

    hope that helps

With Mlife hosts, from my experience with my friends that are hosts at mlife properties, you will find that they will compete with each other (instead of working together like TR hosts, since we are one big Enterprise). So they will all throw something at you in hopes that you choose their particular property. Their threshold of giving up on providing comps to customers is really short, so if you plan on taking a comp and playing at Mlife properties, I would pick the one you like the most and focus your play there or else you will start to see your service levels drop significantly. That, or you can take one or two comp nights at several properties each on a week or so trip, and ensure you keep your play at the property you are comped at, then move on to the other property for those comp nights, and so on.

I agree. As discussed in the past on this Board, that competition has lead to better offers.

    Thanks for some insights.
I frequent Vegas a lot being from Southern California, with CET I usually stay comp at ballys/Paris then gamble at Caesars. It seems fine the offers kept coming.

    Here's what I care about:
I like playing at Bellagio & aria, they have many tables of baccarat.
I don't really mind which hotel I stay at so long as it's comped.
I understand staying where I like to gamble though
I figured it be easier to get comped at Mirage vs bellagio.

    What's the ideal approach?

not know your avarage bet and time yes mirage is easier to get they give 3 nites easier than ballagio.
as i said with mlife pick one u like and stick with it , at cet it doesnt matter and thats what i love about it one host at cet can book you in anywhere.

    hope that helps

if u hit a bad streak at your mlife property you have a problem if your on a comp.

also i find it easier to say spread 50 k out at cet over a trip and get credit from one host than 50 k at 3 differnt properties at mlife i get alot less , as mentioned some people like them fighting for there business its a person prefrence, niether is wrong its just what you like

I want to add a little nuance here, and maybe it doesn't apply anymore, and I don't disagree with the fact that if you have a host relationship at an MGM property, it is better for them and you if you concentrate your play at that property, whereas CET may be different in that regard.

I found that Mlife hosts are allowed to poach only indirectly..

So for example, you have worked with a host at MGM property X for one or more trips. Based on your play, you may get emails from hosts at other properties. Those emails are impersonal offers, in my mind they are no different than simple property offers or corporate offers even if they do have a host's name attached. I'm sure the host never even knows about that email unless you call.

But, and this was a couple of years ago, if you have a specific offer from an MGM host, for example, a combination of nights and/or freeplay, and/or F&B, that is in excess of a marketing offer from another MGM property, and you try to leverage it on a host at another MGM property (ie get into a bidding war), they will tell you in no uncertain terms where to go.

As a player, I see no problem with trying to leverage chains against each other for a little bit here or there, but it didn't surprise me that an MGM host would tell me that he wasn't going to play that game within the chain, and it would surprise me if CET was different.

Typically with CET, offers are citywide, so they will offer the same offer at all properties. Now, in most instances, you may have a free play offer where everyone has to check in and receive the offers at Paris, but can't lodge there. That is to prevent everyone from overcrowding a property and to spread the love a bit. You won't get a bidding war with hosts at CET properties because your host is a citywide host, meaning they can book you at offers at whatever property you like or have offers for. If you are a strong enough of a player, we can request approval from our leadership to have an offer moved over, but that is only for players that consistently play at or above the level that triggered the offer in the first place.

Better offers at Mirage vs Bellagion or Aria. Answer is YES.

As to an early question with host offering upfront comps. Yes, he assumes you will play at levels similar to the last time your were in town and played with mlife. Reasonable assumption, hence the offer. If you had NOT played at Mlife - the offers would not exist.

My apologies for going off topic here, but quick question. I assume several people know the answer, so anyone is welcome to answer. I have a host at PH, but would he also be the one to contact if I want to stay at my local Harrah's in SoCal?

Again, my apologies for the derailment.

I may be wrong, but from my personal experience no. I have a host out of Atlantic City, which I had asked him if he was able to to book my room in Vegas, and he said no. But he can contact someone over at Vegas to assist me. I assume he was going to just contact another host that's out of Vegas. Vice versa, I also asked my host in Vegas, also at PH, if she was able to book me rooms at AC, and she also said no. The host at AC told me it was 2 separate markets. This was about over a year ago.

Excellent! Thank you! When Hunter said "citywide", I guess that literally meant "citywide". I will reach out on my next trip to Rincon.

    Some observations on baccarat ratings:
pit bosses watch carefully if the player is participating in each hand of the shoe.
    Ex they will notate:
    8k buy in
    $300 avg bet
participation of 1/4 or 1/2 or 3/4 or full shoe
    which will affect ratings
those that play baccarat are aware the game is based mostly on feeling, it not unusual to see bets 100, 200, 100, 100, then boom 5k

on a side note i noticed some high action player actually has a dedicated to person keep track of every bet they wager:
    10k player - win
    10k banker - loss
    10k banker - win
    10k banker - win
    etc

Since the Mlife hosts only get credit for your play at the home casino, what would happen if you had a big loss at another Mlife property? I would assume they would be more generous with the comps just to keep you loyal to MGM.

Can I ask how you got comped rooms at the Vdara. Do Aria hosts handle the Vdara property?

Josie, I'm pretty certain the answer is yes. I recall another member posting this same information a few months ago

I'm fairly certain that if you don't play every hand on any game it will affect your rating.

As for the 10k thing, I believe casinos are now required to report any individual transaction over 10k for the money laundering rules.

i can answer that personaly , it suxs , they realy dont , if you host books u in casino A and u take a big hit at casino B you will most likely get a nice letter from a casino B host offering his services to you.

also your host who booked u in can see your play at all mlife properties so he knows you gave most of your play to another casino, thats what i hate about mlife.

he will do something for you but nowhere near what cet would if you lost it there at 3 of there properties as they treat it as one place and one big loss
