It could be my ADHD, but I find I plan to do certain things, but when the reality of Vegas hits, I forget to do all of it, and my "instincts" take me where I'm going.
I don't mean big picture things like a scheduled show, or reservation for bottle service, but places I planned on seeing are on hold.

It might be too much alcohol, and I forget, but just wondering if others have a plan, then get out there, and the plan completely changes.

    Thanks!

Well, setting out for Walgreen's to buy a toothbrush after eating breakfast while staying at the Cal, and arriving back 5 hours later without the toothbrush (but we did make it to El Co) - does that count?

Of course... my favorite has always been to watch "well meaning" conference or convention attendees sit at a machine or table and say, "well... if I'm in bed by 2, that'll still get me 5 hours sleep" and then, "well if I'm in bed by 3:30 a.m., that's still get me..." You get the picture. Those same poor folks (I know, cause I was one back in the day) end up wandering into their meetings or sessions late and often sit waaaay in the back with sunglasses just dying. Even the folks who were good last night are incredibly distracted during the sessions and are lookin' for any reason to duck out and have some fun!

We never seem to have enough time to do everything on our List. Sometimes new 'to-dos' replace old ones. Sometimes our 'to-do' list is merely a list of things to do if the time and place is right. For our last trip I wanted to try Ellis Island and Rollin' Smoke, but, we found Dupars and never made to the others.

We do manage to do something new most trips.

Getaway or vacation, we're far more about walkabout than schedule.

We often plan for different pool parties every day when we go during the summer. However we get so exhausted from staying up all night we usually sleep through them. Last trip for EDC I didn't even end up going to any of the pool parties at all.

Yes, I finally quit making the anal, detailed scheduled of everything I was going to do every day. I ended up doing none of it. Heck, last year I slept through a show :).

Now I just plan to gamble, and then gamble a bit more - and then have a go at gambling - that way I can keep to the schedule :).

I still have things on my list that have been on the list for many trips. I make a big list sorted by location. When we want to do something I Iook at where we are and find something near by.

I still have not made it to the Pinball Hall Of Fame, or Ellis Island

Tearing myself away from the Casino causes my distraction. I always have intentions of doing certain things but never actually gpet to them. Eventually I do but one of the "get to's" that remains on my list (I've been travelling to Vegas for 32 years) is the Welcome to Vegas sign. My host is sending a limo to pick us up at the airport on this upcoming trip, so I plan to forgo the liquor store stop in favour of a stop at the sign.....unless the driver will do both and save us a walk to Walgreens.

Oh, yes!!! I always make a pretty long list of what I'd like to do. It would be great if I could just stick to half of it. Video Poker seems to get in the way, and this time, a nice little machine at the Cromwell kept me pretty occupied.:)

Now that I'm getting older (in my 50's, lol) I try to write down the stuff that I want/have to do. That way I don't forget when I'm there. Like others and the toothbrush I also had times where I wanted to do something, went out and came back completely forgetting the reason I went out in the first place.

I also try to write up a summary TR after I get back so I remember what I did on my trip. I did it for my 4 week vacation last year to Europe and DC (ask Sco about my "anal" TR to Europe, lol), I want to make sure that I remembered most of the important things I did when I went on vacation.

Funny you should mention toothbrushes, a few years ago I arrived at my hotel (I think it was at the Fremont), after arriving in my room I was unpacking and putting my stuff out I put out my toothbrush and toothpaste. Low and behold, the toothbrush fell right into the toilet bowl. After unpacking I went out to get a new toothbrush, only to get sidetracked. 10 hours later when I was getting ready for bed I remembered that I needed a new toothbrush, had to run out to walgreens to get a new toothbrush and again got sidetracked and almost forgot it again, lol.

    Every single time.

Just today I was thinking about my upcoming trip and telling myself that I will slow my roll a bit and not hit the town like an 8yr old on a sugar rush from eating a pound of jellybeans. We'll see how that works out...

On my SB trip I hadn't been in about a year but I still wanted to do several things. I had Friday night to myself before my best friend arrived Saturday afternoon. Wanted to hit The Mob Museum, Absinthe, do a strip crawl and get a straight razor shave. I figured I would get in Friday night...check into The Palazzo and spent the night in the V/P casino and hit the rack for a good nights sleep.

    Yeah right.

I ended up staying up all night playing craps and blackjack. I went up to the room around 6am for a shower and went right back down. My buddy showed up and we sat and played blackjack until it was time for the straight razor shave. I was so tired and it was so relaxing I was pretty much asleep in the chair.

So yeah...total case of Vegas ADD on my part.

But the next time will be slower...I swear!

Well, at my age, I often stand in the middle of the kitchen wondering just what in the hell am I doing there.

In Vegas, all I want to do is go to the pool, order a fancy drink and get into my latest Stephen King, Dean Koontz or Tom Clancy (R.I.P.) adventure. Wouldn't you know it, those damn chicks in their damn string bikinis ruin it for me. Just a total distraction!! Sure, they could my daughters or granddaughters. So what, a man can dream can't he?

And, at least in the Mirage, they put that damn $5 Three Card Poker table right where it's the first thing you see when you enter the casino from the elevators! Damn them, all I wanted was breakfast but now I have to slap down a hundo 'cause I know I'm going to double that in like, 15 minutes, and what's wrong with starting the day with a $1 Bloody Mary anyway?

And now they put that big ass ferris wheel right across LVB. Nothing but distractions!

    Always!

I'm never able to stick to any sort of plan - so I don't make one!! Works great on solo trips.

On trips with my wife and/or family, they're all just as distractable ( a family of ADD - big surprise!). So we do this:

We meet once each day to share a meal and schecdule one (1) activity from someone's "to do list." After that, everyone's on their own until the next scheduled meal or activity the next day.

Works great for us. Gets us a decent mix of "family time," Vegas must-dos, and leaves each of us available to enjoy the delightful distractions of Las Vegas.
