This is totally a long shot but is there any place on the strip that serves Dim Sum or really good authentic Chinese food?

for those that don't know "Dim sum refers to a style of Cantonese food prepared as small bite-sized or individual portions of food traditionally served in small steamer baskets or on small plates"

I know you mentioned the strip. Did you know Vegas has a China Town? It's not far from the strip, we went through it going the long way to Gold Coast.

On Fridays and Saturdays, Noodles at Bellagio serves off a dim sum cart. Ate there last weekend and it was delicious!

Just read on Vegas Solo that the new restaurant F.A.M.E in the Linq has dim sum & other items. Her Chicken Low Mein was a little spicy but had loads of chicken with what appeared to be rice noodles. Looked great.

Not on the strip but if you find yourself with a rental car I really liked Orchids Garden out on Sahara. I think it is exactly what you are describing. There were several options on the dim sum cart that I was even afraid to try. But there were plenty of things I did like.

In this week's Bob Dancer article, he mentions that Fortunes is closing in about a week.

The best dim sum I have had in Las Vegas was at Ping Pang Pong. A shuttle runs to the Gold Coast from Bally's.

I'd have to hear from someone who likes more authentic Asian foods to know if maybe I didn't like it because it was TOO authentic, but I ate there last year when staying at Rio and I did NOT like it. It was late so they weren't doing dim sum and we had to order off the menu. My wife was really disappointed because she got something with shredded pork and when it came it was WAY undercooked and the pork was mushy. We sent it back in an attempt to get them to cook the pork a little longer but I'm not sure they understood. When it came back it was indeed cooked a little longer but still wasn't well done and was still an odd mushy consitency. My food wasn't very flavorful either.

Orchids Garden was recently shut down by the health department due to an imminent health hazard with 36 demerits. Inspectors found a cockroach infestation and liquid waste backing up onto the kitchen floor.

Very interesting. Thanks for the warning! One thing to note though, I couldn't find any corroborating sites with info about them being shut down, I only found one link and it was kinda funny. It appeared to be a site for one of the news stations, but was part of a larger unrelated site so I can't confirm, where did you find the info? Also, if you listen to the video the lady says that all the places listed in the report were back up to an "A" rating except the pizza place and OG looks to be open again. Anybody have any more info about them being shut down?

Ping pang pong is the best though not on directly on the strip, Noodles at Bellagio is good on the strip. Kj at the Rio is good and probably the least expensive dim sum, a deal.

The source was channel 13, a local ABC news affiliate, that has a recurring segment titled Dirty Dining.

It is typical for a restaurant that has been shut down due to excessive violations or an imminent health hazard to request an expedited re-inspection in order to reopen.

I noticed that most of these Dirty Dining restaurants are Asian with several Hispanic joints.
