Talking to a co-worker who says he will sometimes intentionally "forget" to take his players card out of a dollar machine late on a busy Friday or Saturday, like in when many people are under the influence and may not notice that the card.

Claims he has racked up hundreds of points that way.

    Anyone ever try this? :)

The last time I accidently left my card in a machine, someone used $75 comp for dinner at a restaurant that didn't check close enough that that person wasn't me. And it took an investigation with a Total Rewards supervisor, the manager of the restaurant, and the reprimand of a wait staff before they reinstated my comp. To me, it's not worth the trouble.

Most of the machines drop out if there is no activity in 4 or 5 minutes, but in the old days they didn't and my brother used to do this.

Last time I was in Vegas, I left my card in a machine, realised and went to get a new one from the cage at the Monte Carlo. Found the card sitting in the machine still the next morning. That was crazy spooky! Sadly didn't have any points as it was just a bubble craps machine. :( Still worked though weirdly.

LOL, I know it's not funny but I'm going to tell that to my friend when he comes in! :)

At all of the local casinos here, when you use a comp on your card, they always insist on ID, even if you're a regular and they recognize you.

This was at Harrah's AC and they have gotten better about asking for ID, not always, but better.

In Vegas the one place where we used points and never seemed to get carded was the tequila bar at Bally's. But our bills were always < $20 too.

In Tunica and St. Louis, we were asked for id nearly every time.

And I definitely don't intentionally leave my card in for this. Like Joe said, they'll eventually time out too. But once I left my card and remembered it when I was in the bathroom. Someone was playing on it when I went back. I thanked her for the comps. :evillaugh

I had no idea that the card timed-out. I never intentionally leave my card in a machine.

We were in AC one time and just as we were walking out the door as a group we tossed in a few bucks for a couple of spins. A guy comes up and says, I see you do not have a card in the machine mind if I put mine in? We said it was just a few spins but it would not last. He put in his card and two spins latter our funds were gone and we walked. But it was the only time I was asked while playing to use someone elses card. I Do not usually see anyone elses card in there when I start playing.

I always make sure to put my own card in and make sure no one elses is in there. I dont blame them for trying though. I am such a low roller that to give me an actual plastic card put the casinos into a deficit. They are still trying to recoup the cost.

It sounds like a good way to get some points and maybe increase your level of play, but its not really worth the time or effort to do this because you aren't really going to get too much out of it.

Most people who are going to do a lot of playing on a machine, especially at the dollar level, will very likely have their own cards, so the only people you will likely pick up are just going to be the casual player, somebody who'll run maybe a twenty or two through a machine before moving on and then the only way you'll pick up that play is if they start playing before your card times out and they don't notice the card in the machine and take it out... so the overall odds are pretty slim you will even get anything and then if you start obsessing over it and constantly going back to reactivate the card or put it back in a machine its starting to eat in to vacation time.

Plus there is also possible other issues, like with MLife: if you activate FREEPlay or POINTPlay the credits go on to the card that was active in the system the longest. So if you have a card thats sitting in a machine somewhere and its still active and you go and plug your card in and use your points for some free play the credits end up on the other card.

why not go "full blown" and just sit next to some drunk and chunk a dollar or a dollar chip on the ground and say "oh hey you dropped something" and when they bend over put your card in and theirs out and then when they look like they are ready to leave throw their card on the ground and say "hey you dropped something" and grab your card out and then look at them confused as to why their machine spit their card out on the ground

The Ramada Express in Laughlin used to have a different system on their slots -- the countdown remained on the machine when someone removed their card. Rather than resetting to zero. So it was possible to walk through all of the slot machines, put your card in, and on some machines, you'd only need to put in one coin to collect the one point...I did that quite often while I was killing time in the casino before my wife as ready for breakfast..I'd just skip the machines that needed many coins to collect a point and put a coin or two into those that were ready to pay off a point -- since I'm mentioning coins, you can tell this was quite awhile back (in the 90's). I'm sure they've updated the system since then..

If you are gambling that day and plan on retrieving your card at night (if its still there) I can see hoping for a few points. But is it worth the risk of leaving it in the machine over night, having someone show up the next day for a few spins and logging you in as a $6.00 gambling day before the next guy tosses your card on the floor? I would think this is a nice way to trash your ADT and future offers for a few pennies worth of points.

One method I use. When I'm playing a machine I will put my cards in the machines to the left and right of the machine I'm playing. This way I keep an eye on my cards. If someone takes the card out I just say "sorry I was playing that machine and moved to this machine. They give me my card back. If they don't use cards or see my card I get the credit for their play.

Considering you time out after about 5 minutes of inactivity usually, you should be okay unless you play at a place like Cosmo which ends their gaming day at midnight (very stupid, imo). Unless the person that finds your card reshoves it back in the machine for some reason, which would be bad obviously. I would definitely recommend checking the machine you left it in before you left though.

Yeah, this is probably the best idea. Lots of people don't play with cards.

Some times my year end win loss statements are really close. I'd hate to leave my card in when someone hits a really big one. I know they'll be getting the W2G. The computer only knows that it was my card in the machine at the end of the year. It could tip the balance on my refund. Not worth the risk for a few points.

Doesn't mean I haven't forgotten my card by accident. I have never knowingly used someone else's.

I was playing once and went to the bathroom. I left my card in the machine. When I came back someone had replaced it with another card hoping I guess when I reentered it I would not look at the name on the card.

Personally I wouldn't do it because I have no idea as to what information is kept on the card.
