Hi, I know there are many Texans on this forum, but is there anyone here who lives in the northwest San Antonio (and nearby burbs) area?

We are starting to think about where we want to live after we retire, and San Antonio and the northwest burbs are top contenders.

    Thanks :)

Yup. Construction is the name of the game in this entire area these days. Road and home construction. People flocking here in droves.

Post on City-Data under San Antonio Forum to view suggestions. Helotes is nice but yes these areas are growing and fast.

I am near the airport 78247 and really love this area.

Friends lived in NW San Antonio for 14 years, and we visited them a dozen times or more in all seasons. We liked it there. Hill Country not far, and CC is okay to visit. Once in December it snowed half an inch and they closed the schools, LOL.

Might be able to advise you some.

That sounds just like Houston. Booming economy and lots of people moving in, so we're used to it:)

    Thanks!

I have relatives who have lived in SA for over 40 years and seen a lot of changes......right now the previous poster is correct in that many homes are being built northward up Hwy 281....however you may want to get there before they run out of water. It is a major concern to the locals but the building continues....good luck.

Much different than Houston though. We moved from Houston a few years ago. If you live north of 1604 you are in the start of the hills. We love sitting on the upper deck looking out in the distance.....without the humidity and mosquitoes. If you are retiring, live north of 1604 and avoid the traffic. Still close enough to take family and friends to the river walk when they visit.
