I'm headed to Vegas in June and thinking about transitioning over and giving MLIFE properties some play for the first time. I've been a loyal CET Diamond (around 50k-80k tier) for the last 5 years but just want to try out MLIFE. Since coming to VMB, I've seen that MLIFE properties treat table players better than CET so figure I give it a shot. So I have a couple of questions.

I only play Pai Gow poker, and nothing else. My bankroll is usually around 5k-10k a trip (3-5 days). Average hand is anywhere from $200-$700, and I usually play anywhere from 4-15 hours a day, depending on my luck. I usually put in around 10k-15k tier a day. With this information, how long (days/trips) would it take me to hit MLIFE Gold\Platinum? What kind of comps (rooms, RFB, FP, etc) should/can I expect?

I'm deciding to give MGM and/or Aria a try. Does anyone know how many Pai Gow poker tables are there usually open during the day/night? Or if you recommend going to another MLIFE property for PGP?

Thanks and appreciate any inputs/comments given.

MGM doesn't really give much FP anymore for table players. As for the other comps, its not based on tier level. It's based on your theo. I don't play PGP, so I don't know the HA or average number of hands per hour, but is sounds like you are betting multiple black chips per hand and play a lot of hours per day. You can certainly expect something

I think you'd easily get platinum in a trip. You'd likely get Gold within your first night -- possibly Platinum if you run one of your marathon sessions. You're likely to get a lot better comps at MGM than Aria or Bellagio. I don't play anywhere near that level, so I can't give you a solid idea of what to expect, but if you want to send me a PM, I can give you the contact info for a host at MGM if you want a little more concrete info.

i dont do pia gai so im usless, i play bj at mlife and some baccaratte usully 500$ and up a hand

tiers at mlife are worthless its all about adt average bet verse time or your loss and you will need a host and what you win or loose and how good they treat u with descrtionary comps.

unlike cet, u wont get the free shows like u get automaticlty with diamond, theres no diamond checkin or cage line or mlife line or really upgrades or free nite clubs attmittance with your diamond card , its all bullshite on there website, cet does do that part better.

you will get more free food and descretoinary with mlife . its a give and take.

also you cant book a year out comped , only 3 free nites thru offers otherwise you need a host at mlife

    there website suxs

    im diamond at cet
    and platnium at mlife

the only time i use my mlife is when i play to get rated at cet i use my card all the time, free show tickets, free nite clubs, diamond lounge, seperate cage line to cash in at, resturant skip line.

theres a big difernce in what the cards means. cet i dont realy need a host at mlife i must have a host

    this is a start

I don't play Pai Gow either. At your level, you should earn more than 10-15k TC per day. You should get some comps on the back end also.

The rating may be a little different since you push a lot in PG.

At that kind of play on both the bet sizes and hours you should be RFB or at least close to it. As far as TCs at Mlife you earn them at roughly 10x the rate you do at CET. So like sevjay said you should easily hit gold your first night and platinum your second.

Hopefully someone else can answer your question about the PGP tables at MGM and Aria but comp-wise you'd go further at MGM. But at that level of play you should be ok at either.

By the way where do you stay with CET and what do you get there for that play?

Thanks for the information and recommendation about better comps at MGM than the other MLIFE properties. I may take you up on that offer maybe after my first play at MGM.

I just made my first trip to an MLife property (Aria) I emailed a host prior to going up and just asked him if he could look at my play at the end of my trip to see if i qualify for any room comps. I stayed for 2 days and I played about 9 hours of tables mostly Pai Gow Tiles with some BJ my average bet was little over 300. I also coined in about 25000 a day on slots mainly VP. I was gold after the first day and he comped everything for me although i didnt have much charged to my room. I will say that this was the best impression i have ever had from a host. he answered my initial email 4 minutes after i sent it and that was after i got his out of office reply, so he answered from home. he called me the last night and told me not to check out that he would do everything for me and let me know what he could comp as i had a very early flight out of town. I am now curious what kind of offers i will get

Thanks for the detailed information. Most of what you said and from what I read on VMB is about the same. I understand tier status doesn't mean anything at all and I'm not at all a tier chaser. Was just curious how long it would take me to make it at MLIFE to the higher tiers. With the shows, upgrades, night clubs , etc, for me it's not really all that important, but of course it's a nice perk of CET Diamond. The thing I know I would definitely be disappointed about is NO diamond check-in and no diamond line at the cage. As gamblers, how many times have we see the cage get ridiculously packed. I'm out here on the east coast so I go to Atlantic City a lot. At the cages there on CET properties there is usually a staff on the line directing cage traffic and if a diamond/7 star holder walks up, he stops the line and let's the diamond/7 star goes first. I've only seen it a couple of times in LV at Caesars and PHo. But they uphold it more at AC. That will definitely be missed switching over to MLIFE.

I do agree, as I mostly don't use a host at CET as I usually book rooms myself and enter the promo codes for my FP, concert tickets, tournaments, etc. Not unless I need a suite when I'm going with a group of friends. Especially since like you said, I can book rooms a year out.

    Thanks for your inputs.

Thanks for the input. I've been playing PGP for the last 15 years and it's the only game I play. From what my host told me, for the theo, it's usually amount played X hands played (around 15-30, that's depending on amount of players on the table, can fit 6) x .02 HA.

Thanks for the information and reiteration. I'll find out the good/bad about MLIFE in soon enough, in about a month. :rolleyes2:

I'm out of VA, so I go to Atlantic City a lot. I mainly play at AC/Caesars or once in a blue at AC/Harrahs. In LV, I only play/stay at Casesars and PHo. I usually get suites or at least 2 regular rooms, connecting as I usually go with a group of friends who are usually diamond holders too. I've had no problem getting any of the suites at PHo (panorama, boulevard, and even apex). At ceasars, the only suite I ever gotten was the Forum Tower one. I tried pushing it once, but I believe it was bad timing as there was some convention going on. And on 2 other occasions, it was another convention and then EDC weekend. My offers are pretty consistent as my play is always around the same. I usually get anywhere from $500-1k FP, occasional $250-$500 reel rewards, concert tickets, and all the other stuff and diamond perks that paperposter had mentioned earlier. Oh and the yearly cruise offers. I actually think I got 3 cruise offers last year.

I can't comment too much on comps as your wagers are a lot more black than mine, but as far as quality of Pai Gow playing experience I'd really recommend Mandalay Bay's Lotus Room. It's a special room in the middle of the casino floor with nothing but Pai Gow and Mini-Bacc. They're definitely trying to cater to the Pai Gow Player in there, as it is set up with an Asian theme and designed to deaden the general noise. It looks like a High Limit room, but the mininums are actually set at $25. I swear the volume level in there is a third of the level of the rest of the casino. Very much enjoyed my pai gow time there this trip.

I don't think I've ever seen anybody post here about a definitive reverse-engineered calculation of how CET awards Tier Credits for table play.

But many have come in with fairly good records of MGM ratings and TCs earned, and it generally always end up being about 30 TCs per $1 in theo and that goes across both (non-specialty) slots and table games.

.02, or 2% sounds about right for HA, but with low volatility, you can (and do apparently) play longer.

So the unknown variable is how many hands an hour does the pit use for rating?

Wizard of Odds says 30 hands/hr is standard, which according to your account is a little generous, but let's use it, and put your avg bet at $400:

Simplest calc = $400 x .02 = $8 in theo per hand, or 240 Tier Credits per hand
    Per Hour @ 30 hands = 7,200 TCs

So at 30 hands an hour, it should take about 10.5 hrs to reach Gold and 28 hrs to reach Platinum, based strictly on gambling

Amount bet: $12,000 an hour / $126,000 to reach gold / $336,000 to reach Platinum.

Comps-wise, $400 a hand at 30 hands/hr for 4 hours generates $960 a day in theo. That'll get you a decent room any time you want but probably not too much in daily F & B, depends on the property. Make it 6 or 8 hrs a day and now you're probably at the next level.

I'm Diamond at CET from my play at AC and Platinum MLife.

MLife does not have a a Diamond check in but they do have an invited guest check in at all their properties.

You will definitely be an invited guest at your level.

I stay at Aria and rarely wait at the cage.
I have had long waits at the cage at Harrahs AC.

There is also a Platinum line at the buffet, coffee shop, and taxi stand.

It does seem counter intuitive but my comps at Aria have been better than they were at MGM.

We will see how it goes after this trip since my host left and I have not met the new one yet.

Thanks a lot for the information, that is actually very useful. As I play at AC\Caesar's alot, they have like a cut-off section where its like an Asian area containing bac, mini-bac, PGP, PGT, and asia poker. It's very quiet and relaxing in there without all the noise and commotion from like roulette, craps, slots etc. I may checkout MB. Do you happen to remember if they had no commission PGPG in there? Thanks again.

Thanks Chuck. That was exactly what I was looking for!!! In reference to the hands per hour question, I have asked that many many times and researched it. When I had asked my host how the hands per hour were figured out for theo, the host said since everything is digitized and electronic, it is figured out by the machine. I was provided this information probably 2-3 years ago. Which does makes sense for PGP, as the shuffler/feeder or whatever you call it that you feed the 2 deck of cards into for PGP is programmed electronically. Someone correct me if this is wrong.

I saw the 30 hands on Wizard of Odds too. For the 15 years I've been playing, I have actually tried to time it quite a few times. On commission PGP tables and with max players which is 6, there were very few times where it would reach 30 hands. It was more along the lines of 20, and once in a blue hitting 25. Then put of those players who wants to double, triple, quadruple check there cards and then stare at it and praying that it would change, put that in the equation and it significantly minimizes the hands per hour. Now for no-commission PGP, I've hit 30 quite a few times with 6 players. Couple of times 30+. I usually play late at night so most of the time I'm on the table myself. The few times that I did time it and keep count, I've probably hit 50 hands per hour.

All Pai Gow I saw had commission at MB. AFAIK no MGM properties offer commission free.
