Another thread got me to poking around YouTube for time laps videos from inside the High Roller. I found a couple of interesting ones.

THIS ONE was taken during the day.

AND THIS ONE was at night.

I don't know why, but I thought the wheel would be closer to the strip than it is, not way back behind the Hilton Suites at the Flamingo. It's cool, but for me, I'm not sure this view is $35pp. cool.

The 24-hour pass is $45. I guess if you're gonna do it, you might as well do it right and make the most of it!

How busy was the high roller? They say that they can fit up to 40 people in a gondola, was it that busy? Were there long lines to catch the high roller? Was it busier during the night over the day?

I was just wondering. a yahoo article (on secrets to a great vegas vacation for less) the writer interviewed someone from fodors lv guidebook who said that he thinks the prices for the high roller will go up to $60 by the end of summer, was it that popular and busy or is the guy just hyping the thing?

This is what was said in the article:

"Ride the High Roller, the new 550-foot observation wheel at Caesars’ LINQ shopping and entertainment district, “before Caesars realizes how underpriced it is,” Villano says. “Rides currently top out around $40; this is literally one half what it costs in U.S. dollars to ride the London Eye. I expect prices to be in the $60 range before the end of the summer.”"

Not sure how correct the guy is, I rode the London Eye at night and the price wasn't much higher than the High Roller IMHO.

Am I the only person who looks at this thing and goes, meh? It just looks pretty boring to me.

The loading area without a railing looks dangerous to me. I can see a drunk or two stumbling over the edge. Then I realized there was a net below the loading area which looks like an afterthought.

Yeah, me too. I like rides normally, but this doesnt really feel like a ride. I am imagining myself being stuck for 40 minutes in a pod with someone who wont shut up, and that makes me decide I will probably never get on it.

I was there on Sunday night at around 9pm, and there was no line. I would guess that there were an average of about 10 people on each pod. The Linq itself was pretty packed with people.

The pass is good for 24hrs.,however you still only get one ride.
The "advantage" of the flex pass is in that you don't have to commit to a set time, and I believe you can bypass any waiting lines.

Only one ride? The hell? That's not much of an advantage in my mind. Now unlimited rides for 24-hours I can see ponying up an extra 10 bucks for. If we do it, it's gonna be totally for the novelty factor and just to say we did it. And I'm thinking it's gonna have to be with casino money coming off a big win at the tables or something.

Went on it last night. Definitely something to do once. We went on at 7.30 so it got dark as we got to the top. My friend comped us all but without it would have been 140 dollars for four and that's expensive. It's really only a 15 minute ride as once you get to the top people start talking amongst themselves.
