Best Poker Room on the Strip: Monte Carlo

I know, I know, but hear me out. I've played at every room on the strip and if you're a low stakes cash game player I truly feel this room is tops.

Here's the rundown:

1) The dealers and managers are fantastic. Efficient, personable, funny and competent. They always make sure the tables are enjoying themselves. It's the kind of room where after the first day they were on a first name basis with me. Unlike some of the bigger rooms you can tell they really appreciate your low stakes business.

2) This is an excellent room for recreational players looking to have a good time. This isn't an intimidating room where you're going to find a lot of grim 20-somethings with headphones and hoodies. Most players are tourists looking to have some fun. And again, the aforementioned personable dealers and management are a big part of the reason why the games are so enjoyable.

3) The rake is 4 dollars with a 1 dollar jackpot drop. That's better than any CET property and near average for MGM properties. With the jackpot there are opportunities for high hand bonuses which don't require you to sit in your seat for several hours.

4) The room is very attractive and comfortable (see below). MC is leagues ahead of other small and mid-sized rooms like MGM, PH or Bally's.

5) Drink service is excellent. I don't think I've ever heard a player complaining that they haven't seen a waitress.

6) Okay, I hesitate to write this because I don't want to ruin it for myself but... the Monte Carlo poker room is fantastic for sharks. Factors 1-5 lead to really soft games. The player population consists of weak tight, calling stations, and gambling LAG-tard players. I'm by no means a great player, but I consistently feel like one of the best players at the table. I've put in significant time at MC and it's pretty rare to have a tough table. I also like for the 1/2 NL game they require a 100 dollar minimum buy-in instead of 60 which means there's always a decent amount of money on the table and keeps short stacking nits away.


Seriously, MC is a great room.

 

I've played there many times. I don't think I've played there in many years though. But, I've always liked the room. I used to love their high hand jackpots and I've hit at least one of them before (not sure if they still do high hand or not).

The best room on the strip? Methinks not. A good, overlooked, gem of a room? Certainly.

I think it's the best room for low stakes cash games. Obviously different strokes for different folks.

I think this sums it up pretty well. Of the "minor" MGM poker rooms, everything I read in the past makes it sound like MC is the best one. And in terms of competition strength, I'm sure its nowhere near the big boys. If only I liked to play NLHE...

 

Ah... I wasn't sure if the $1 jackpot was for high hand or a bad beat jackpot (or something else).

While few would rate it as the "best room" on the Strip, I say to each their own...and Monte Carlo has plenty of redeeming qualities. While it doesn't have a ton of traffic compared to other rooms I also like the look of the room and appreciate the quiet nature of being tucked into the back corner.

What little I've played there I've also found the action to be pretty soft. I agree you wouldn't be likely to find many sharks here, which does make it a hidden gem (right in the middle of the Strip, no less.)

 

I agree that this criteria, if being nit-picky, would eliminate the Aria and the Bellagio. I'll be the first to admit the B Managers, and managers only, can definitely be rude on occasion, but the room is just sooo damn profitable I'd be a fool not to keep playing there. The dealers have all been great in my experience.

Aria, I have to say they have some of the best dealers in LV. Efficient and knowledgeable. Again, you could argue the managers can be rude sometimes, but this room is extremely profitable as well.

 

To be clear - my "best" poker room title is clickbait.

A more actuate title would be "My Favorite". Particularly considering I'm a low stakes player. In my opinion it's a room that deserves way more love.

 

Have played there numerous times and enjoyed myself and feel it's more casual which is a nice change up from Aria and PH where I also play.

I've never seen more than 1 table going in that room, and sometimes they can't even get 1 table off the ground. When did you take this pic?

I've stayed and played at MC and Aria multiple times (Aria is connected and I frequently walk over and play at MC when I do) and I've just never seen a crowd in there. Was surprised to see the review and the picture.

I would be willing to give it a chance if I can ever catch any action in there.

 

Typically they have a few tables going, although sometimes in the morning it takes awhile. I suggest downloading the Bravo Poker Live app on to your smart phone to check their availability. That's what I do. By noon most of the time I can get in a game faster than I can at Aria.

 

The allvegaspoker.com forum used to have a lot more traffic at one time too. I failed to play in the 3/6 Mix game for the first time in February, which was started by that forum.

I know you're trying to be helpful, but if TRN didn't have Bravo, I'd be a bit shocked. :evillaugh

 

If you included tourneys the most tables I've seen going is 7. 3 tourney tables and 2 1/2 and 2 limit tables.

In the beginning sometimes the tables are short handed with 6 players, which suits me just fine. Most players don't adjust very well to shorthanded games. They fill up pretty quickly anyway.

 

The wife and I have a really fond memory of the 3-6 spread limit game that we played in this room a couple of years back. The game itself seemed sort of pointless from a financial perspective but the characters at the table and the dealer were all hilarious. The drink was flowing and it was some of the best non-serious poker we played all trip.

 

I agree with everything the OP says. I love playing at Monte Carlo. I'm not a shark, but I've consistently won money there for the past 12 years or so. The same guys who were dealing 8-10 years ago are the room managers now. At least they were when I was there last September.

I will be there in July at a 1/2 NL or 2/5 NL.

 

While I agree it is an underrated cardroom, can't say it is the best. An increase in traffic is much needed - but I do love the setup and coziness

 

I played there back in March. They had 2 1-2 nl games, and 2 2-6 limit games. I jumped in a nl game, but it was a total nit fest. Switch to the spread limit, and that game had a ton of action. It's a nice little room, but hidden back in the corner of the casino.

 

When you say it was a total nit fest I'm assuming you mean the players were terrible, if so why did you switch to the spread limit game?
