Has anybody here booked an MGM promo via the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line past guest promo that expires the end of the month?

Jumped ship to the MGM after discovering it was only a few bucks more (after deducting the $150 resort credit they were offering) a night for Grand King vs the standard I had booked @ MC.

Called MGM, operator not sure where I can use the credit within the resort:eek:. Was told "only in MGM...no other properties".

When pressed operator said all hotel owned restaurants and bars should be included but not stores or gambling...but she had no idea which restaurants, other than the buffet, are included.

You'd think they'd at least give me a list when I check in...anybody care to guess where it'll be valid?

Most of the time "resort credit" will work at any of the restaurants on the property. http://mgmgrand.com/restaurants/ . It should also include room service. It won't work on the daily "resort fee". All you will need to do is charge the restaurant or bar tab to your room and when you check out, the amount of the "resort credit" should be deducted from your final bill (unless for some reason they give you a gift card of some sort). They should explain everything when you check in.

I'd press at check-in for the specific restaurants....

I had a food and beverage credit at Planet Hollywood, I entered A restaurant directly from the casino floor, they accepted my room key for payment, but at check-out the wouldn't deduct it as it wasn't a CET owned restaurant (PF Chang's) They were vague at check-in just saying to charge it to my room.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't the first to make that kind of error, and my credit went to waste!

Any restaurant on the hotels website can be charged to your room and paid for with resort credit. The buffetts also.

you can also charge to your room at a MGM hotel from any other MGM hotel...for example, 3 weeks ago we ate at NYNY pizza place and I charged it to my room at Excal. Same trip we ate at TAP in MGM and I charged it to my excal room and paid for it all with RCs (I tipped in cash)

RCs do NOT cover tip, and sometimes do not cover tax, seems to be hit or miss on tax, I haven't found any correlation or causation to when it does or doesnt cover tax.

VegasChic- that's exactly what I want to avoid. we've enjoyed credits at other (non-vegas) resorts. I've factored it in when booking for overall price of accomodations. Have a feeling they 'gamble' on it not being used fully lol. Doesn't seem unreasonable to expect to be provided with a printout of sorts at check in imo, will see how that goes.

mdub - Thanks for the list, going to track down the telephone numbers of venues we'd likely patronize there to call & try verify. Probably wouldn't hurt to ask as hostess station before we commit.

During the summer time, we always use our Resort Credit on drinks/food at the pool area. Just charge everthing to your room and you will use up that credit in no time!

To answer your questions, you can use it any bar/restaurant/gift shop in the hotel, so you will have lots of options if you don't want to use it at the pool. You can use that $150 for a nice meal if you would like.

When it says "Resort Credit" that means you can only use it at the property where you are staying, in this case MGM Grand.

When it says "Food and Beverage Credit" that you can use at any MLife property.

In both cases you can use it at any of the restaurants on the property except those in the food court -wherever you can charge the meal to your room should be good. You can also use it for room service.

How it works: when you check in and enable "charge to room" privileges they will attach a credit to your room. To use the credit you just need to charge meals to your room and they will be reduced by the credit until the credit is all gone. Note that you can check your hotel bill on your room's TV and you will see the charges appear there and the credit taking the charges off, but while sometimes the credit applies instantly other times it doesn't apply until over night.

Also note that you do have to have charge to room enabled, meaning you have to leave a deposit on the room.

Otherwise when you check in the front desk clerk will explain that you have a resort credit, what it is, how it works and where you can use it.

I think the only restaurant in the MGM that would not allow room charges is the rainforest cafe. I could be wrong, but its the only spot I have not been permitted to do a room charge. That was a few years ago.

ok, was hoping it'd be valid @ emerils or craftsteak, although I'm sure it wouldn't take long to run thru it at the pool lol.

was told @ MC that it wasn't valid @ diablos, starbucks or any restuarants not owned by the hotel according to phone operator

    Signature....

Similarly, virtuoso travel has a 100 f&b credit that says it is only good at Signature outlets. I imagine that limits you to the cafe and room service. Which is a bit of a bummer because it would be nice to use it at the restaurants at MGM.

FYI - $150 food will get your dinner for two - once.

Maybe twice if you are careful.

Yea, just about every place with MGM will quality. Double check in at check in.

I usually get a $200 resort credit with my offer. The first $200 charged to my room never shows up on my bill. I have had dinners at Emerils and craft steak even lunch at project pie. When I look at my room charges on the room tv those charges are never included until after the credit is used up.
