A good Italian dinner on the strip??

I just read through the Maggianos vs. Battista thread and since we have a Maggianos at home (and we don't eat at places I could eat at home while we're in Vegas) and I want to stay on the strip, what are my "other" tasty Italian choices or are those the only 2 places on the strip??

I know that Caesars has Rao's - but I've heard bad things about it...

Price is not an issue and we are not looking for a walk up window selling pizza by the slice - even though that's really tasty!!

I think you are looking for probably a higher-end dining experience and not a chain of course.

But for anyone who doesn't mind chains, I find Buca di Beppo at Excalibur is great! Cheesecake Factory at Caesars is also solid.

 

We love Fellini's in the Stratosphere . We also love Carmine's or Trevi in the forum shops.

 

I really enjoyed Il Fornaio at NY NY, but that was a few years back. I can't vouch for it recently, you know how things can change.

 

Piero's. Yes, it is not "on" the Strip but it's just a long block behind the Roachera so I say "close enough." This is "old" Vegas Italian paired with "great" Vegas Italian.

 

How about a more modern approach to Italian? Try Scarpetta in The Cosmopolitan.

 

Scarpetta is excellent. In fact, I'm taking my brother and sister there for their 40th bday. Great view of the Bellagio fountains and Scott Conant doesn't mess around.

His spaghetti plate is renowned. I know that sounds odd for a simple plate of spaghetti, but it's pretty damn amazing. You'll want seconds.

 

I hype the modern aspects of their menu, but 50% of the time I order the spaghetti. It's incredible!

 

I've not had the privilege but when we get back over there, this is a must-do.

Simple pasta can be sublime indeed. Once at Tavolata in Seattle I had spaghetti with anchovy, oil and chile. Singular.

Its on the strip but a bit aways Bootleggers ( around 7000 block of LVB south).

 

Piero's also has live entertainment - Pia Zadora performs there on Friday and Saturday nights. She is a very accomplished vocalist, aside from the controversy that surrounded her brief film career.

 

Fellini's is excellent and so is Trevi.

Carmine's is difficult to order unless you have a larger group that all wants the same things. Ditto with Buca (but you can get that almost anywhere).

 

Scarpetta's looks DELICIOUS!! and I usually don't go for spaghetti, but my mind might be changed after watching that video!!

I also looked up Carmine's but there are only 3 of us going, and with it being all family style that's a lot of food if we wanted to try different things!!

I'll have to look into Fellini's and Trevi..

Is there seating at Scarpetti's suitable for a solo traveller? I hate eating alone but have become more comfortable with it in Vegas as many restaurants do have counter seating or seating where you don't feel you stick out like a sore thumb. Thus video has me craving the spaghetti!

 

Just an FYI: We had several spaghetti plates as appetizers and then each had meals. One person had another spaghetti plate for dinner as well. So, you don't have to have spaghetti as your meal. But, you should definitely try it.

 

I don't remember seeing a bar, but we didn't go all the way into the restaurant. So, there could be one. The two top tables are right by the window facing the fountains. I think I would be comfortable with a book or my phone at one of those tables watching the fountains go off every 15 minutes.

Well, it's on LV Blvd if not the Strip. And another somewhat iconic choice with good food. We're fans. Does the former lt. governor still torch there?

Someone mentioned Fellini's. Not the most chic decor but they, too, bring the plates. We were saddened when they left Sam's Town years back. But we've not had good experiences with Salvatore's at Suncoast; service snafus not necessarily food.
