Can I ask a naive question? There are currently two offers on the MyVegas fan page for a ridiculous amount of stuff. It's a scam to get me to download garbage on the PC, correct? Too good to be true is always just that. All the comments on the page seem to be positive but that either means the administrators are deleting negative posts or those are the people that download everything on Facebook and then are constantly complaining about being hacked.

Oops. It's the MyVegas Bonus FB page.

Now that I look at the comments more closely, they almost all came in 13 hours ago and they are almost all the same comments. Scam.

The only 2 sources that I trust with that kind of info are the actual posts made by the MyVegas fan page (Make sure the "Verified Page" icon is there too verified-page.jpg ) and the the MyVegas Friend Rocks page, which is their "approved" fan group.

All others, I consider suspect, especially with wild claims of "click this and get X number of chips" and links thru bit.ly or tinyurl.

BTW, I edited out the link so no one else goes there and accidently clicks a link and gets nasty stuff from those scammers.

You have to really be careful which pages you like and also watch reposts from other people. All except the offical page are scams.

The real MyVegas would NEVER give anywhere near that away for free. It doesn't even make sense so I don't know why people fall for it. They give away 1k chips here, 2k chips there, and about 4 times a year they give a 1k LP. Does it make sense that they are all of a sudden a huge amount of chips and LP like that? No. :)

    Thanks for the answers :)

Even though I cancelled before going all the way, the Zoosk app got added. I've since deleted it so I'm hoping I don't have to explain to my husband why I had an online dating app on FB.

    facebook "myvegas bonus" page

does anyone "like" this on facebook. It pops up everyday to win 100K chips and 100K LP's. No way this is real is it? I see 90 plus comments saying thanks for the chips and points but I just find it hard to believe.

Anyone actually get those points here?

Those type of pages are scams to get your personal information, especially email addresses.

Just like everything on Facebook, be cautious of the pages/pictures you like/share.

Yeah its mainly just data harvesting, trying to get all your personal info and the info about your friends, etc. I do some Facebook programming and you'd be surprised at how much data can be grabbed by somebody just liking your page.

And some of these guys can be pretty tricky about it too, like they might call their page "MyVegas Admin" or something like that were the casual user will think thats an actual admin user (I don't know if they do that with MyVegas but I see it lots on other games).

And no you won't get anything by liking and following their info and installing their stuff and all that... and its also a waste of time to post to people in there saying how its just a scam or doesn't work or whatever, nobody will read that and out of hundreds of thousands to millions of users people will still click on those links

Where you end up doesn't really matter: every internet programming language has a command to redirect the user to whatever web page you want to send them to and you don't have to be affiliated with something to link to it.

But as said those are just scams:

They aren't done by the company themselves. The scammers will usually use the company name in their name, but with something else like maybe:
    MyVegas Helpdesk
    MyVegas Marketing
    MyVegas Casino
Or something like that, something that will make it look legitimate.

Most of these fall in to one of three categories:
    1) Harvesting data. They want your email, name, work history, likes, etc so that they can sell that info.
    2) Surveys. They get paid for getting people to fill out surveys.
    3) Advertising. You end up giving them access to your wall in Facebook and they can then go and post ads to your friends through it.

And no there is nothing here like its a lottery or the chips will eventually show up: they aren't going to send the chips to you or anybody else.

If you have filled these out you should check your app settings and if you see anything there other than MyVegas or see anything that looks suspicious then you should remove that and disable it. If it is listed there then that means you have granted them permission to access your information, some info from your friends and make posts to your account

    Facebook virus ?

Has anyone noticed on their facebook page the free 4,000,000 point they can get by liking and sharing with others. I went so far as finding out what one needs to do.
I didn't finish it thinking it was a sham. It shows up looking like the spot that 'my vegas' has for you to redeem some points, more like 1000 or 1500 points.
Could facebook be in with 'my vegas' to catch more people off guard? Sure looks real.

This comes up from time to time. Those are scams that have nothing to do with FB or MyVegas. They are trying to either install a virus on your computer or get your information to sell so spammers can send you junk email. This is the best advice I can give about making sure the links you see are real.
Remember the old adage, if it's to good to be true, it probably is.
