    Trips to Las Vegas:
    38
I spent two night's there last November as part of a father/son trip. We stayed because that is where my parents stay when they go and my dad was playing in a VP tournament. At the time the only Boyd gambling I had done was two trips to Sam's Town in Shreveport which is where I got my card. Since then I have been getting offers for 3 comped nights plus a little food/freeplay for Sam's Town Las Vegas. Earlier this week I got an offer to play in a golf tournament next month with 3 nights plus food. Are comps that much better off strip?

Yes! They are that much better off strip. Boyd Gaming in particular gives great offers out at all of their properties. The Orleans and Gold Coast are closer to the strip and give great comps pretty easily too.

The only problem with Sam's is it's out in the toolies!

    We often times meet up with another couple who stays there and we play and eat there. The casino is fun with lotsa low limit machines and usually consistent drink service. The buffet is surprisingly good for the price. Billy Bobs is 2die4. Oh yes, there's yet another TGIF! {twirling index finger}

The ice cream place right off the casino floor is great.

We've never actually stayed there but once I borrowed the room to take a power nap and it was actually quite nice, kinda like Bally's in quality.

The Boyd properties are all pretty good about comps. I like the 4 Queens also.

I stay out there almost every trip for a few days. I like the free Toast of the Town show on Thursday afternoons, a fine old fashioned Vegas review with some great talent and different every week.

Full pay Deuces are available in nickles (well, really dimes because it takes 10 coins to bet max)
Other full pay VP is there including one JOB progressive I found that was boosted way up.

In the morning they have a very inexpensive poker tournament and their spread limit game is unique and fun although usually full of regulars looking to crack Aces. It is 2-6 with a full kill.

Next door is Eastside Cannery with more full pay machines, including 9-6-90 JOB. They have plenty of promotions. A free buffet is often offered with no point reduction. Monday nights I like the Claudine Castro Latin Lounge show which is very Spanish. The Eastside Cannery beer is a buck and a half, so the mandatory drink is pretty reasonable.

Across the street is Walmarts for easy room snacks and a Bank of America free ATM (walk into the drive in) as well as the old Longhorn for matchplays. The 202 Flamingo bus dead ends right next to the Eastside parking lot and waits a while. The driver has a break and then starts the journey back to the strip.

Sam's Town itself has a free shuttle to the strip or to downtown.

Right now on Tuesdays Sam's Town has a free buffet offered for a bit of play with no point reduction.
Some days the movies are very cheap. I've gone, bought a large popcorn and had it refilled for my room snack. The last time I went a promotion let me earn two free movie tickets and Wild Bill and I went to see Bad Grandpa.

Finally, the Atrium is just a fine place to sit and relax for a while away from noise. It makes Sam's a great place to meet and greet friends and have quiet enough for talking and no need to buy drinks. McD's coffee is nearby. I met my old high school locker mate there and we caught up over a breakfast buffet and a relaxed sit in the Atrium. The morning went very quickly.

I don't play enough for comped rooms, but I generally get some free nights that in the right weeks can be like a 2 for 1. I do hate the damned resort fee, but even with that I can often manage five nights for $26 on average total, booking on B Connected. And they are very good about giving me an end room so I only have neighbors on one side and it is not the side where I might want to watch TV when sleepless at 3AM.

As everything dries up and "improves" I find Boulder still has the old style flavor of gambling without all the expense.

The golf tourney offer cost is dependent on your level of play there. My offer is complimentary.

Couldn't agree more. Much more classic feel on Boulder Hwy compared to the Strip, or even downtown. The strip lost its value for me long ago. I often don't even to to the strip anymore. I will usually spend some quality time downtown, but personally I'm not a fan of a zipline running down Fremont and especially the stupid characters.

We love Sam's Town! Always stay a night there during our trip. The rooms are nice. I like the view looking towards The Cannery. Great live entertainment in one of the bars some nights, good cheap buffet, movie house, bowling alley. What's not to love? Plus a wal-mart across the road for people watching!:evillaugh

I spent maybe an hour in the place, April 2012. 2 years ago and lost a grand total of maybe $100. Every month since I have gotten an email offering 2 free nights, 7 days a week (no sun-thurs restriction) and I am planning on taking them up on their offer when we go to Vegas to get married. I really did like the place, and its location is the only reason I haven't been back, but I am not going to turn down a comped room this time. I had been staying at Hard Rock comped, but those have since dried up with this new calendar year, so I will go elsewhere- namely Sam's Town.

I get invited to the free cash grab every month at Sams. You get anywhere from 40 dollars to 750 and sometimes even 1,000 at the cash grab. Even better the cash grab comes with 3 free nights AND 11X points for slots and 7x points for video poker for all 3 days. Plus an ice cream social.

Great way to build up comps!

    Here are the current promotions

I know there are Buffalo penny slot players out there. Pretty good multiplier.

Sam’s Town: Point multipliers: get 4x all points on Sunday, Monday and Thursday, or get 20x points on all Buffalo penny machines on Mondays. Swipe prior to playing at a kiosk. Finish out the week with Big Spin Hot Seats on Fridays and Saturdays. Three slot and table players will be randomly selected every 30 minutes from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to take a spin on the big wheel for a cash prize ranging from $100 to $1,000. You can win more than once.

I thought that too until I took their shuttle from Downtown and back. I also rode the one from Harrah's to Sam's my last trip and it convinced me to pull the trigger on two free nights there. I don't know how they call it a "shuttle' when both buses are 80-seat luxury tour sized. One even had tv's every few rows.

    Here's the Daily departure schedule:
    Sam's to Fremont 9:am, 10:15, 11:30, 12:45, 2:00, 3:15, 4:30, 5:45, 7:00, 8:15
    Cal to Sam's 8:30, 9:45, 11am, 12:15, 1:30, 2:45, 4:pm, 5:15, 6:30, 7:45, 9:pm
    Sam's to Harrahs 10:10, 11:30, 12:50, 2:10, 4:20, 5:50, 7:20, 8:40
    Harrah's to Sam's 9:30, 10:50, 12:10, 1:30, 3:40, 5:pm, 6:30, 8:pm, 9:10

To add to Dewey's list there's Arizona Charlies and Boulder Station up the street and the BHX runs every 20 minutes.

And in the other direction the 115 will get you to Sunset Station in a half hour.
A half hour on the BHX will get you to Joker's Wild.
Or two buses in about an hour will get you to Fiesta Henderson.

    Sam's

We luv Sam's. We used to spend 1 or 2 nights at Sam's and the rest of our time on the strip. Now It's the 1 or 2 on the strip to take in a show and the rest at Sam's. If you want to gamble Sam's is the place. My wife like the slots and I like the Deuces Wild table game and VP.

Mine isn't free but reduced to $400. My card level is barely sapphire and a coin in of $5000 daily between slots and VP. I estimate my ADT at around 300.
