He was 69 and died from a rare autoimmune disease - per IMDB.

69 years. I thought he was younger than that.

    Absolutely!

Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghost Busters, Groundhog Day...Ramis played some part in most of the funniest movies of my childhood.

    RIP

I just watched Stripes last night. This is very sad. Vasculitis is a terrible disease.

Too bad he and Bill Murray never made up. I would have loved to see Ghostbusters 3

    As a Director ---
    he was responsible for "directing"
Bill Murray to do / say his "play by play" scene
    in Caddyshack.
It was the scene where Murray swings a sharp tool
and chops off the flower blooms.... as he recites....
    "...It's a Cinderella story.....outta nowhere .....l
    the ex-green's keeper......." etc
    *
Harold Ramis told Murray - "Did you ever act out a play by play
sports scene ? You know, doing the announcer's voice.
Murray said "Yeh...I get it !"
    *
What was the trouble between Murray + Ramis ?
    I didn't know about it ?

I didn't think it was a fight between Murray & Ramis - I just thought Murray didn't want to do another sequel? He's pretty picky about what roles he does these days. He'll do big budget or quirky indie or total crap, but he really picks and chooses to do *just* what he wants.

Anyway, I adore all the movies of the 80s Ramis was involved with, be it acting, writing, and/or directing. RIP.

I heard on TV last night that Ghostbusters 3 was all set for production with Harold Ramis reprising his role as Dr. Egon Spengler. Now it is all up in the air again.

RIP Harold - a comedic genius! Just watched stripes last week and am still laughing. "Army training sir!"

Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, just think of all the classic lines from these films.
