I finally get to spend a night at the Plaza (as part of my goal to stay everywhere at least once), though it's only for one night at the beginning of my trip. According to the confirmation email, check in time is at 4 PM. I'm sure I can show up before then; but do they charge an early check in fee? I'd like to catch a morning flight and not have to spend time wandering FSE before checking in. Oh, and it would be on a Sunday, if that makes a difference.

We stayed there last month. At about 1 p.m., we were told our room wasn't ready yet, but there would be a $20 fee to check in early. We went back shortly after 2 p.m.-our room was now ready and they didn't charge us extra.

Last year in April we arrived just after 10, said to come back at noon and hopefully we would be allowed to check in, came back after going to Magnolias to eat around noon and line had formed to get checked in! No fee or anything like that, btw it was a Saturday when we arrived.

The check-in at the Plaza might be the worst downtown. I've stood in line for 30 minutes regularly. Compared to MSS, the D, and 4 Queens which I NEVER have to stand in line for it's really bad.

Last time I stayed there, I arrived around 2:30PM or so...no line... check-in took all of 3 minutes... no 'early check-in fee'...no resort fee on my comp.
As for others? I've never stayed at MSS, but at every hotel I've ever stayed in multiple-times on Vegas trips, I've had to wait in line for check-in at least once...the only exceptions to that (so far) have been the single times I've stayed at Golden Gate & the Plaza.
I suspect it has more to do with when you arrive and the day of the week.
    "Worst downtown"?
Well, for me, that was 'theD'...about a 30 minute wait in line to check-in, the one time I've stayed there.
But I'd still stay there again. Can't blame the hotel for multiple arrivals at about the same time. It happens.

Thanks for the info, everyone. Every place seems to be different on how the handle showing up early, it's always good to get an idea of what's up. I'll probably go ahead and take an early flight (I'm very anxious to get back out there!) and take my chances. They sound pretty good.

Not a problem, if they don't allow you to check in, just store your bags and come back when to do allow you to check in.

Yep, we always get down there around 10 and store our bags. Its really sort of a crap shoot on if you can get in at noon or 2, depends on how fast rooms get cleaned and how early people check out. I always assume I wont get in until around 2 just to avoid disappointment!

They have recently added an early check in fee for check ins before 1:30-0r 2 I believe. The fee is $22. They quoted me this on the Thursday when I tried to check in at around noon. They waive the fee for people with Queen level cards or anyone on a comp. It is really a somewhat silly new rule as it would benefit both the hotel and the guest to get them in early so that they don't have a huge line at 4pm... But it is always easy to stow your bags. I have seen very slow moving lines at the Plaza but my last couple trips they had plenty of check in staff and the line moved much quicker

Early check in at the plaza

Hi everyone! Yes early check ins can be difficult especially during the upcoming March craziness. My suggestion would be when you make your reservation let them know you would like to have an early check in due to such and such. This is especially important when booking with one of us casino hosts. We have to ensure we have an available and properly cleaned room for our guests. Please keep this in mind during the next couple of weeks moving into March because we are selling out like hot cakes. :) :nworthy:

Thanks for the info, feadolphus. Unfortunately, unless Southwest offers an earlier flight at a lower cost, I won't be there until 5 or so anyway. Looking forward to it though!
