Before the Super Bowl there were stories all over the web that Floyd Mayweather bet $10.4 million on the Broncos winning the Super Bowl. He is known to make big sports bets.

Las Vegas bookmakers were saying he did make the bet but Mayweather never commented.

After the game he tweeted out that he never made that bet and it was just a rumor. But why didn't he ever say that before the game?

Would Vegas books take that kind of action? Do you think he really made that bet?

What book would risk their whole profit for a quarter on on game? Also $10.4 is too big not to see even a slight line swing.

As for the reason of him not tweeting, as they say, any publicity is good publicity, if Broncos had won, I'm sure it looks great for him PR wise even if he never placed the bet.

I would think some books would let him take the wager if he was willing to do it.

I'm going with no he didn't. The publicity would have been huge if it was true and we all know mayweather loves publicity.

Yes there are places that would take that action. It's been done before when 10 million was worth a lot more than it is now. Considering the total handle it's not that big of a deal. If you wanted to put that on an Akron vs toledo bball game that's a different story.

The State released the total handle figures showing that $119 million was bet on the Super Bowl in Nevada. This blew away the previous record of around $98 million by 20%!!

It is very conceivable that a $10 million bet was placed on the game, wether by Mayweather and/or other parties.

In the past Mayweather has placed large bets with Cantor Gaming, and has shown on Twitter or other places winning tickets in the hundreds of thousands.

Is the $10 million bet true? Maybe,,,maybe not.

Just curious, where would take that action? The largest super bowl wager I have heard of is $2.5 million. Most years, there is not even a million dollar bet on the game. And in the years there are bets that large, its usually no more than three seven figure bets total. So which places take the action of an eight figure bet, especially when its on the side already getting 70% of the action??

Here is a link to hsi Instagram, says he didnt place any bets this year. VC said no one even placed any 6 figure bets this year, let alone 8 figures.

Do I think LVH, Southpoint or Stratosphere who are all Line originators would do it, no. Stations, no. Coast, no. Do I think MGM who has had a huge $ working business relationship with this non sharp celebrity sports better for a long time might early on before the money came in? Yes I do. He could get anybody there on the phone, they own 6 plus books on the strip and I don't think that action would scare them long term. Any place that was running a large amount in the hole on Seattle would do it late but that never took place.

So to answer your question, yes i think MGM would take it.

Mayweather makes his bets at the M. H e has done for a while. To move that much cash you have to have a paper trail.

I had heard that it was done offshore. That was the original rumor going around. Maybe Macau?

The dude carries around $1M cash everywhere he goes...I dont think it would be that hard to get $10M cash...

    However, $10M in $100 bills weighs 220lbs...

That wasn't really my question. Your prior post indicated not just that a book would theoretically take action that large on a specific high profile event, but that wagers in excess of $10 million had taken place in the past and I was curious as to where? Honestly, I have never heard of any Vegas book actually taking action that large. So if you know of where and when that happened, I would love to know to satisfy my curiosity.

But, I am guessing now based on this most recent post that you actually didn't know of any book taking action that large and were merely speculating that a book theoretically could.

And FYI, not sure about the past year, but in prior years, Mayweather has booked his bets at Cantor Gaming facilities (or at least the majority of the betting slips he used to post online were from Cantor books), not MGM as you suggest. I know because seeing all his pics is what motivated me to start the thread on this board for members to post pictures of their sports bets. He could have switched in the past year, I suppose.

Maybe because it was great publicity even if it wasn't true. People were talking about it and it just added to his "Money" image. If Denver won maybe he would have just let the rumor live on. Two things Mayweather is definitely great at are boxing and self-promotion.

My point was that any transaction over 10 grand requires paper trails.
You can't just walk up to a book and bet 10 mil. Only certain places will take that kind of action. He has been known to bet at the M Casino (NOT MGM) for a long time now.
