Superbowl. My favorite time to be in Vegas. I've been to a few Big Game casino parties (comped by host). These are some of the things that I prefer:

    1) Ability to place or cash bets inside the ballroom
    2) Decent food options
    3) Raffles / Drawings / Betting Squares (the big boards where you buy a spot and the score at the end of each quarter determines the winner)
    4) Comfort (seating)

Of course, sound & big screens are a must, but most of the casino's have over the top sound & viewing systems. Unlimited food & drink should always be free.

This will be my 11th straight year going to a Vegas for the superbowl. Each of those times I have gone to a casino invite party. These include the Golden Nugget (3), Caesars (1), Venetian (3), Palazzo (1), Mandalay Bay (1), Aria (1), and the old Hilton (1).

Here are my thoughts on a couple of the above properties.

Aria - One of the biggest big game viewing party I've been to (tons of people). Also, instead of tables, they had couches, hundreds & hundreds. The food was the best I've seen at a big game party as they had numerous food sections, each with their own theme (seafood variety, Mexican variety, deserts, standard stadium food ie. dogs, burgers, etc.). I think I ate 3 or 4 dozen jumbo shrimp. Scantily clad cheerleaders. Big screens around the perimeter. Downside - No raffles, drawings, or betting squares. I can't remember if there was a betting station inside.

Golden Nugget (Grand Ballroom) - About 1/5 the size of Aria's big game party. Mixed seating (big tables, small tables, seats without tables). Food is average and was standard stadium food for the most part with a mix of pasta, meatballs, salad, etc. A betting station is inside. They also have 4 or 5 big boards to purchase squares for end of quarter payouts ($50 & $100 level). Love the big boards. Also, 4 or 5 gaming tables inside (blackjack & craps). They also give away sports memorabilia sometimes (jerseys, signed stuff, etc.). Cheerleaders working the door area. Screens around the perimeter.

Palazzo - About 2/5 the size of Aria's big game party. Went here last year. Not my favorite place. The experience was still great because of the atmosphere, and I got drunker than any other year, but the food variety was seriously lacking (below average), there was no betting station inside (although there was one outside in the hallway), and there were no big boards for end of quarter payouts. Seating was round table style. Restrooms were way too far away. Don't remember seeing any cheerleaders.

Mandalay Bay - Went here 2 years ago. About 4/5 the turnout of Aria's party and held inside the stadium. Total capacity is larger, but because it's in the stadium, there were tons of seats up above that were empty. They have 4 huge screens hanging from the ceiling in the middle of the stadium, so that regardless of whether you sat on the floor, or in the stands, you could see the game in the middle of the room. This was one of the only places where they didn't have big screens around the perimeter. Not a fan of this viewing setup. Betting station was outside the stadium and wouldn't take winners after the game (had to go to sportsbook where the line was insane). No big boards for end of quarter payouts. Food options were above average. A few cheerleaders near the entrance. Might be the only time I can remember tons of confetti coming from the ceiling at the end of the game.

Hilton was 11 years ago and I don't remember much. Venetian was a long time ago too, but I believe it is similar to the Palazzo review above. Caesars was also a long time ago, but it seemed on par with most others. All of the above properties included a gift bag when you pick up your big game wristbands. This would typically include a superbowl hat, a superbowl shirt, and possibly some other small item.

For those who have been to a big game casino invite party, what did you like or dislike (seating, food, betting station, or other thoughts)? I'm curious about the event put on at Bellagio & Wynn if anyone has been there. Also, I'll be happy to answer any questions.

I did Monte Carlo's party two years ago. It was in the Lance Burton/Blue Man Group theatre. Stadium style seating, with the lower area being reserved for invited guests and the upper area was free admission, first come, first served for seats. The free area filled up within 30 minutes of the doors opening. The reserved area was very spacious with no one else sitting within 5 chairs of me and my friend. We each got $50 in food vouchers, the food was movie theatre food and movie theatre prices. The game was on a movie theatre screen, probably 60 feet wide. No betting windows.

Without being invited, is there a way to gain access to any casino invite parties?

I have been going the last 20 years on super day. Stayed about every hotel. Your post says it about all. Its almost the pre game excitement is the cats ass. The parties are like a low level comp. But some years better than nothing....

Without a host, your chances are slim to none. But here are a few things I've seen in the past.

    1) If you ask, the casino will tell you these tickets are not for sale. With that said, over the years, we have asked our host multiple times for extra tickets. They are high demand and they say they'll try, but it rarely happens. One year we needed extras for friends and stealthily put $100 in the hosts' hand and told him to work his magic. The morning of the superbowl we received 2 extra tickets in addition to the two we already received.

    2) One guy from our crew isn't a gambler and doesn't receive offers for the big game parties. Twice in two years he has gotten a free ticket by simply standing outside the venue before kickoff and asking people in line if they have an extra ticket.

    3) Sneaking in is improbable, but not impossible. They make you wear a colored, non removable wristband to gain entrance. One you snap it on your wrist, you have to use scissors to get it off. Every event has security at the door checking everyone as they come & go. I suppose you could pay off one of the doormen if you are really feeling bold. One year, we saw a guy who was able to get the wristband off his wrist (without cutting it). He went to the entrance door and when the security guard wasn't looking, he slipped the wristband to a buddy.

Have you ever been to the events put on by the Wynn or Bellagio?

Totally agree about the pre game excitement. I love that whether I'm in a taxi, being served by a waiter, at a blackjack table, or otherwise, every single employee is talking about the big game. Makes for a fun weekend.

I think I posted this on another thread a couple of years ago, but I believe the teams playing in the Superbowl really influences the experience.

I went to a party at the Rio back in 2005. The party was in the ballroom but the fan rivalry turned the party up a notch. NE vs Philly

Conversely I attended the SB XLIII in 2009 with PIT vs ARI at same venue, similar party and it was boring as hell. Ended up leaving and going over to gold coast to watch the remainder of the game.

How was the Gold Coast? That's where I'll be this year.

I received the following in an email from nyny. I don't have a host so I figured this was normal marketing material. I've never been to lv for the Super Bowl, umm I mean "Big Game." Didn't figure this offer was anything too special. Though $26/nt is pretty nice. All I need is a basic room at a decent casino.

Special Super Party average rate of $26 per night when you stay 3 nights between February 1st through the 4th

Entry for you and a guest into the Strips Biggest and Best Super Party.

Food and Drink tickets available for purchase for the Game Day Buffet

    Imperial Palace

Around 1990, paid for a Superbowl party at Imperial. Paid 35$ and got draft beer and a t shirt. Left after first quarter. I was a real rookie. (still am)... Bad memories of that .

I've never been to the NYNY big game event. However, it sounds to me like the above offer is their secondary, or lower tier party. All the ones I've been to have been unlimited free food & drink. With that said, I'm sure it would still be a great time. They are trying to get more people to book a room by enticing them with the offer.

Still hoping to get info about the viewing parties thrown by Bellagio & Wynn . . .

Oh I wouldn't be surprised if it were the lower tier of their parties. My play doesn't warrant the red carpet baller "big game" party. I put in just enough to get some damn cheap rooms or comped basic rooms. That's all I really need. If I'm staying 4 or 5 nights for a grand total of $200 and it's not at Excalibur, I'm not going to complain.

That's a great deal. Is the offer generic or specific to only you? If it's generic in nature can you please send me the offer code via PM.

    Thanks.

I think it's specific to me. It was sent to me via email by NYNY with the usual "This email is intended for Bayoubengal MLIFE Number 1234". If I were in town this weekend I'd do it. But alas I must wait a few weeks.
