I am an early riser, and I mean early. With the time change, sometimes in Vegas I am up and back in the casino before 4 am. Ikr, that's crazy.

We are staying at Cosmo the first two nights of our trip. Where can I go that early to play quarter JoB, bartop? Or would you recommend another bank of machines? I'm just going to need coffee and lots of it, and, from experience, have found drink service to be minimal at that time of the morning.

    Thanks!!

All casinos on the Strip-- with the exception of Wynn and Encore-- will comp your drinks at the bar while you are playing. Yes, coffee is included. (Yes, coffee with Baileys Irish cream is also included.)

Some will require that you play max coins (5 coins per hand, so $1.25 at quarters). Some will require a minimum buy-in of, say, $20. Of course, bartenders appreciate tips.

Now even though your drinks are comped, playing VP at the bar on The Strip might not be the best idea, as the paytables, especially at the quarter level, might not be the best for a savvy VP player... But you didn't mention if you are just playing for fun, or if you are a serious VP player looking to maximize profit/minimize losses.

So, if you aren't turned off by, say, 6/5 JoB instead of 9/6 JoB, yes... your plan will work.

I can't imagine any Strip casino, including Cosmo, would close the bar. There's always a need for drinks 24/7.

I'm sure that even at 4am you'll find an open bar and a functional video poker machine and a bartender willing to serve you.

I just looked up Bond Bar and it closes at 4 am, since that one is on my to do list, we will hit that one up later for sure.

    Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Cosmo has 9/6 JOB in the high limit room for quarters ($25 minimum), fifty cents ($12.50 minimum) or $1 (1 play on spin poker or $5 minimum) and drink service is typically good in the HL room (it blows on the Cosmo floor for machine players).

If $1.25 per pull is your preference, I agree the bar top route is the best option to gamble, beyond brewing several pots in your room.

Thanks Viva! I'm prob not going to be able to hit up the HL room this trip unfortunately. Plus, I don't want to spend our daily gambling budget before hubbie even wakes up lol

Its been ~18 months since I was at Cosmo, but the 3 times I stayed there I played at Book & Stage early in the morning (7am ET, 4am Vegas) more than once. I recall Bond is closed that early and opens around 10am or so. I believe those are the only 2 VP bars not including HL. Maybe they have VP at Vesper, I don't think so, but at the same time I recall someone mentioning it so maybe they do.

Mom is an early morning VP player

She had a blast with the bartender at Book & Stage each morning we were there--I highly recommend it!

Maybe check Queue Bar as they have bartop VP or Book/Stage, can confirm Bond is not open until later morning/early afternoon. Queue Bar is a nice, quieter option within Cosmo with less foot traffic. You get a lot of traffic going through Book/Stage. Vesper has no VP.

If no luck, just hop across the street to Paris where I am sure you will find Gustav's open for coffee and VP (I am assuming)

No games at Vesper. Damn good drinks though. If I'm up at 4am it's because I caught a heater at the craps table. Book and Stage always seems dead when I walk by.

Agree about Book & Stage, dead except for the times I actually want to get a seat! :)

One thing that is a bummer about the Cosmo bars is the lack of draft beer at the casino bars. I think Book & Stage has like 2 or 3 beers on tap. Miller and maybe Modelo? Bleh.

I may give book and stage a shot in a few weeks. I'll be staying at the Cosmo plus I've gotten more into VP lately. Great time killer but it won't help much to maintain my status there. Slots take your money too fast, haha.

I'm not sure there is a definitive answer to the OP's question. There are 3 VP bars at Cosmo - Book & Stage, Queue and Bond. I have never seen Book & Stage closed but have seen the other 2 closed regularly during quiet periods.

I think Book & Stage is the best bet early in the morning.

Having similar habits as the OP as to time of wake up while in Vegas, I can say the last two times there at about 5:30 am the Book & Stage was open and the one morning we were there about 4:00 am and there were still stragglers from the club drinking and hanging there. So unless something has changed, the Book & Stage is your best bet at that hour. They have a great bartenders during the mid to late morning as well, I actually forgot the women bartenders name but she was great the several times I was there for the better part of the early - mid mornings.

    Good Luck!

Thanks everyone. I'm starting to get really excited and can't wait. Doing research and planning for our trip is helping me get thru the weather we are having in Chicago right now, where it is currently -41° with windchill. OMG

We've always had luck with the Book and Stage being open at 4-6a until our trip last month. It was 24-7 on the weekends, but the bartender said they were starting to close it early mornings during the week.
