Many of them aren't real DJs but they are musicians. With that being said, that story is fake as all get out.

No one making tons of money would ever open their mouth that badly to hurt their bottom line.

    Try again.

i dont want to be rude, but have you ever been to a Vegas club? or even seen Steve Aoki. He is one of the best, and maybe the best performer. These guys make awesome money, even the house DJ's at Vegas clubs make good money. They are responsible for keeping people on the dance floor and hyped up.

    Not my point.

They are not DJs. They are musicians.

I like tons of their music and whether they make tons of money is irrelevant.

I've also been to many Vegas clubs and understand the appeal although the music is not my choice for riding in my car or personal listening.

That fake article does highlight some of the sheer rubbish of those "shows" but at the same time, I say if the audience likes it, great.

The work involved in many of these so called DJ performances isn't "work". The music making beforehand is many times admirable, however.

LOL that article is clearly satire. And like they say any good satire has to stem from truth.

A Steve Aoki "performance" at Hakk.

Even as I call him a musician, he isn't performing or playing any instruments. He isn't rapping or singing either.

What it comes down to is a fun lightshow and good music attached to a name. Oh and he throws cake and dives into the audience.

It's fun stuff but an insult to the intelligence to call them DJs.

If Steve Aoki wasn't there.....same lightshow and music could have taken place.

it was his father Rocky that started Benihana

and for a while Steve and his father were not all that close because Steve was busy pursuing his own goals while some of his older siblings were locked in a battle with their father for control of his money

later on after it was all settling down and Rocky was not flying all around power boat racing and chasing women he and Steve were much closer especially since it was always clear Steve had his own thing going and was not looking to dig into his fathers wallet

also I do not know what drugs Steve may or may not have done, but reports are that he was "straight edge" in high school and that he did drink some after he started touring, but he has stopped pretty much completely now and there is a "leaked' rider out there that does have some champagne listed on it and an 1/8 of "local grass", but it also has a lot of other juices and organic drinks listed on it as well and Steve states he does not do drugs

I find him to be an example of a kid of a family of "means" that could have gone straight off the cliff and instead because he was fairly younger than his older siblings he saw how idiotic they were over fighting with their father over finances so instead he went and did his own thing and reaps the rewards of that for himself
