I have spent years ripping Orleans both on this website and another which shall remain nameless but whose initials are TA.

It is all based on an especially bad trip I had there in which I seemed to constantly run in to Murphy's Law everywhere I turned.

I am admitting that the place has it's niche and maybe I was a bit too harsh in my criticism based on the fact that I am in the overwhelming minority in my opinions.

It has it's features which appeal to most people. I think people should experience Orleans and judge for themselves.

    Orleans Fans; I Apologize

Very encouraging to note that you have decided to end your vendetta against the Orleans.
To those of us who truly believe that the Orleans nicely satisfies the basic desire of what a visitor should need and expect at a Las Vegas hotel, this is good news.
The Orleans ain't perfect. Right now I still occasionally bemoan the fact that it is impossible to buy any mix at this hotel other than Pepsi for my afternoon rum & cola happy hour drink (or drinks). Pepsi is #3 in line for my preferences for a cola. Coca-Cola is #2, and I actually prefer generic brands available at Safeway or other grocery chains for my rum mix. But of course I realize that if that is my main concern with Orleans I am being well looked after otherwise.
AND, best of all, only 77 more sleeps until our next visit to Vegas, and 81 sleeps until our 10 night visit to The Orleans (4 of these comped). Can hardly wait!

Breeze147: Glad you've apparently mellowed somewhat. I stayed at the Orleans for the umpteenth time last month and am looking forward to staying there again in February. Personally, however, I couldn't care less what someone else thinks about one of my favorite places to stay, play, or eat. In fact, I'd just as soon they publicize the bad stuff and, as Ebenezer Scrooge would say, "decrease the surplus population!" :D

Dude, I don't know what you were doing or saying before. But, I applaud your post. An open mind is always a good thing. Not so open that your brains fall out. But, in balance, you know? Not only did you change your mind about something, but you admitted to it publicly.

I also like the Orleans. Lots of options and decent bar video poker. Most people on this forum have had a much below average experience at some property they have visited in Vegas. For me, it's Aria, but after BeeeJay's last TR, it looks like I will finally give them another shot next trip.

    Hey Now!!!!

I can appreciate bad experiences at any property. Orleans works for us well as a home base. We started out with Terrible's, but it was just too smoky.

The Orlean's is a cool joint...it's certainly got everything you need and then some... no reason to venture off the property. I attend a lot of meetings/conferences there and was just by there a couple months ago and the place was as lively as ever on a Tuesday afternoon.

Good post Breeze, we can't all like the same things and an unpleasant stay would certainly leave a "bad taste in your mouth". While the Orleans isn't my "cup of tea" either, it certainly has a loyal following.

I like the Orleans. Visited many times and stayed there once. I like the food options, playing atmosphere, and CW's :)evillaugh)

Breeze, it's great that you came to terms from your dislike of the Orleans. Have you ever tried going back to see if things have changed?

I agree it is so cool having that little window to open in the shower at orleans and gold coast.

I found your Sept. 18 review to be both amusing and interesting. Things that you noticed, such as an odor inside the casino and dirty felts at the tables, are not things that I have noticed. I didn't notice them three weeks ago, either.

Some of your dislikes about your stay are things I might agree with, such as the inconvenience of accessing other properties via the shuttle service, under different circumstances. I rent a car while in Vegas, so your concerns are non-issues for me. But I wouldn't be as keen on staying at Orleans if I had to rely upon buses to get to other places.

One of your gripes actually intrigued me, but not enough to pay a visit:

A restaurant that serves people shots to the point where they cannot sit or stand amuses me. I've never seen that at a restaurant. Sure, I've seen that one drunk guy or gal at a bar who has to be helped out because s/he had way too much, but I've never seen a group so inebriated that they are on the floor of a restaurant, collectively. Great show. I'd pay money to see it. I suppose it can get obnoxious if they're all loud, but a restaurant that serves shots repeatedly until the point where customers are physically unable to remain upright, that's something I want to see for myself.
