Palazzo has a no commission table next to the regular pai gow table. I believe closest to what used to be the bar/lounge that they are ripping out for more slots.

In Vegas, maybe elsewhere, that version is called EZ Pai Gow Poker. Many of us Pai Gow lovers have started working on a database of the various games and conditions for Pai Gow. Check out the recent conditions reported at http://bit.ly/PaiGowtableconditions

If you play somewhere, please consider filling out a report at http://bit.ly/PGPdatabase

Thanks and have a great trip!

Rampart Casino near the Suncoast. Commission free with dice. Nice property.

Venetian and Palazzo both have a table open of EZ Pai Gow. If I remember correctly, neither Harrah's nor Caesar's had any table. Played at Mandalay Bay but it was the early morning and only 1 table was open so they might have one somewhere.

I like it as it makes the game a bit quicker.

Can someone please explain the EZ Pai Gow game more fully? It seems to me that with no commission it is a dead even game. We all know that casinos never offer a game where they have no advantage. I very much enjoy the game and this sounds like a great play.

To cover the lost edge from a lack of commission, the house gets another advantage. Whenever the house gets a Q high pai gow (usually a losing hand for the house), the hand automatically pushes.

Also, even if no commission were collected, and the above rule was not in place, there would still be a house edge due to tying hands going to the house, though the advantage would be really small.

Yes, so a winning hand or a losing hand both push when the dealer gets a queen high. This is irrelevant as dealer automatically gets a pair of aces with a small pair up top every hand anyways:cry:.

The EZ Pai Gow game does have few more side bets than the regular fortune Pai Gow. The tables have a progressive bonus that can be won with betting only a buck. For this bet the payoffs start with full house and go up from there. You can bet up to $5 but only $1 is needed for the progressive. The VP progressive was a tad over $100k last time I was there. A bet can be placed on the player or dealers hand or both. There is also a dealer queen high bet that 50 to 1 and a player pai gow hand bet with payouts depending on the high card in the hand. There is also the traditional fortune bet with the same payouts as the commission tables.

I typically bet the fortune and progressive with sometimes the latter being at the $5 max. Both the Venetian and Palazzo Pai Gow tables had good beverage service when I was there in the last month. The Palazzo doesn't seem to get too busy but there is a bar right next to the pit. They have a DJ playing on weekend nights. There is also a Pai Gow table over in the Asian pit by Carnevino but it isn't open all day.

To clarify, I didn't play or see no commission Pai Gow at MB. The beer offerings include Lagunitas IPA but the waitress service was non-existent. Could be because it was 8 am and the Casino was deserted. The only table I played at was a Fortune Pai Gow.

All the details are here on wizard of odds page. If I am reading him correctly regular Pai Gow poker has about a 2.6% advantage for house and EZ or Commision free is about 2.51% so the no commission is slightly better. Plus just so much better to not have to mess with those darn quarters! :D http://wizardofodds.com/games/pai-gow-poker/

Although, I do want to mention, I saw no commission at Hooters Casino and besides the Qhigh push, they had lowered the payout on one of the Fortune bet payouts. Wasn't much but if you are playing the Fortune bet, you might notice it.

It sounds like an interesting game. With all the high house advantage side bets I can see where they are making up for the slight loss of advantage on the primary game. I'll be looking to try it when we are out there.

Is anybody else like me, that adamantly will not play the bonus bet.
I get tired of the constant, "you should play it. Even if it's just a $1."
And that's not just the dealer but the other players at the table too.

I actually like playing the bonuses BUT hate that also when others tell me how to bet. I believe the proper response is a cold stare and the statement, You play your way, I will play my way.

I very rarely play it (maybe a few times per hour). I tried an experiment once - $5 on bonus for 4 hours straight - end result = down $260 on the bet.

I simply do not get big hands, and not enough flushes and straights to help the bonus bets.

The players that amaze me are the ones playing $10 on their hand, and $5 on the bonus bets. They must be expecting some real hands?

First of all, you are talking about Pai Gow POKER, not TILES.
Second, that rule change makes up for the commission.

Look for EZ Pai Gow ... the gaming board probably lists it separately.
