I bet almost exclusively point spread and money line. On a parlay can you mix and match. For intsance can you bet three teams with the points and then add a fourth and fifth on the money line? Thanks in advance for the help.
Yes. You can make most any sports wager as part of a parlay and I have combined moneyline and straight bets on the same parlay. Most books will not let you bet propositions or multiple bets on the same game (such as first half and the whole game) on the same parlay
UKFanatic is correct about same games to an extent. You can't bet a first half and whole game as a parlay but you can bet a point spread and total on the same game in a parlay. Just wanted to clarify.
That's not always the case if the side/total is considered a correlated parlay. I've never tried to bet one in a Vegas book but I'll go out on a limb and say they won't accept it.
Yes, this is correct. Obviously, I wasn't very clear. Betting on a point total and an outcome in the same game is common.
How do you make an actual parlay? Just go to the counter and tell them the four bets or whatever? Is there a card to fill out?
Sometimes they have the parlay cards, but its just as easy to go up to the counter and say Give me a $50 4 team parlay and give the attendant the 4 bet numbers.
I have never used a parlay card in my life, but when betting parlays (probably 20-25% of my bets) I will jot them down on a small piece of paper so a)I don't miss one and b)keeps the process speedy for the teller. I am sure the parlay cards come in handy for those playing 5-6-7+ team parlays. Really probably a choice of preference.
Are you saying that books honor lines printed on parlay cards? I always assumed that even though the card might say one thing once you go the window they'll give you the updated lines? Interesting...
How are the parlay odds calculated? Payout is higher than if you made each bet separate and won them all right?
Yes the odds pay alot more however the problem is if you for instance go 4-1 on a parlay, you lose. The payouts for a parlay are: 2 teams - 13/5 3 teams - 6/1 4 teams - 10/1 5 teams - 25/1 6 teams - 40/1 7 teams - 75/1 8 teams - 150/1 9 teams - 300/1 10 teams - 700/1 11 teams 1100/1 12 teams 1800/1
That is the payout on a point spread bet. If it is a moneyline bet then yes the payout would depend on the odds.
Yup. The odds are typically a little shorter than an over-the-counter parlay but the cards are always worth a look. There's usually a half point card and a ties win card. See which one fits your picks best. Stay away from teaser cards with a couple of exceptions*
It's quite easy to calculate your returns on a parlay! But only in decimal/fractional odds. Personally, I find American odds a bit strange. The decimal system used in Europe to me makes much more sense. 2.00 = 2 times whatever you stakes or +100 (I think?) for you guys. A $100 bet at 2.00 in Europe would return $200, 1.50 would return $150 etc. To work out the returns on a parlay, you just multiply the odds of each outcome, which with a decimal system is quite easy, for example: 2.00 x 1.50 x 4.00 = 12.00 or +1100
