Vdara Questions

Good Morning,

In November, I’ve booked a City Corner Suite at Vdara for a 5 night stay (first timer at Vdara).

So that I have an idea of what to expect, I wanted to ask the following questions:

1. Can anyone shed some light on their overall past experiences (good or bad)?
2. I’ll have a rental car and wanted to know how their valet service was and ease of getting into their parking garage?
3. The City Corner Suite has a kitchenette and washer/dryer. Wanted to know if they have dishes, utensils, dishwashing soap and detergent/dryer sheets for use or do we have to buy them before hand?
4. So I get a great view of the strip or Bellagio fountains, which tower/floor should I request?
5. To get my gamble on, can anyone shed some light on navigating (walking) through Vdara to get to Aria, Cosmo, Bellagio and the Strip?
6. How is their Spa/Salon for massages? Or should I go to Aria?
7. Lastly, how is their wireless internet service? We’ll have multiple iPads and iPhones.

I have stayed at Vdara before but I can only answer some of these.

1. Personally I loved Vdara. The rooms are nice, the entire property was always really clean. It is very quiet which to me is a positive. No worrying about smelling smoke when you go downstairs to get a drink or get food.

2. I did not have a rental car, sorry.

3. I had the lowest room and it had utensils in it. There were plates and glasses but if I remember correctly you had to ask them to bring pots and pans up.

4. I had a view of the Vdara pool and Aria. Not 100% sure what floor I was but it was in the 20's. There is only one tower though so I would guess you just have to figure out which direction the Bellagio is so you can tell them you want an East facing room or North whichever it is.

5. To get to Aria it is a very short walk but it is outside. The two hotels share a taxi and valet area. So just walk out the front door of Vdara take a left and walk maybe 5 minutes and you are at Aria doors. For Bellagio you walk down a hallway from Vdara lobby then on a covered walkway. This part of the walk is very quick, less than 5 minutes, but when you get into Bellagio you have to walk through a bunch of shops an past convention rooms. Overall the walk takes about 10 minutes to be at tables but it feels longer.

6. Did not use the spa but have heard Aria's is better.

7. Found wifi to be average. While I had no problem surfing the web I wouldn't expect to be able to stream to your iPad. This could just be the room I was in though.

 

I can answer a couple of these.

We stayed in a panoramic suite in 2011, and had a great experience. We had a partial fountain view, 51st floor, but the nightclub at the Cosmo kept my husband from sleeping. We will skip the partial view this trip for a quieter experience. As cool as he thought it was to watch the fountains from the toilet in the powder room, he'd prefer to get some sleep.

The valet was easy and relatively fast most of the time. We never bothered with self parking at City Center (Vdara itself is valet only - no self park there. If you do want to self-park, use the Bellagio garage, not the Aria) Getting to the Vdara is a bit tricky the first couple of times, but just don't take it too fast and you'll be fine. The only thing about the valet is that we were never able to get them to pick up the phone when we called from our room to have the car ready. The wait could be pretty long during the normal busy times, but we only used the car during the day, so we never had to wait very long, even without being able to call ahead.

Walking to Aria couldn't be easier. Not even a 2 minute walk. Walking to Bellagio is easy as well, maybe 5 minutes to get to the actual casino floor. What we really like about the Vdara is that there is no casino, so from the front door to the elevators is seriously less than a minute. Very easy to navigate. We never walked to the Cosmo from the Vdara, but others have posted that it's not hard.

You will need to call housekeeping for utensils/laundry supplies. There are none in the rooms. Apparently you have to be fairly specific, and fairly clear about needing them for the whole stay (if that's the case). We only used the fridge for water and leftovers, so never needed to call for any equipment.

I only used the wired connection, but I recall it being slow. Maybe I'm just spoiled at home.

I'll be able to shed some light on the spa after my trip.

My experience with the valet was a little different as I never experienced a wait time.

The Vdara Spa is top notch. I have to say one of the best in Vegas or anywhere that I've been. The service at check in, the locker room attendants were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Although the lounges and facilities are smaller than most they're very well stocked, clean and well attended to.

There is only 1 tower at Vdara. My recommendation is to ask for a high floor for the better view.

The wireless internet worked great. I was running 2 ipads for the entire 7 days I was there without a glitch. It was quick as well. My only issue was having to sign in as a Vdara user each time I went back to the ipad.

All in all I really enjoyed Vdara. I've stayed in nearly every Strip hotel and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the piece and quiet Vdara has to offer. I gamble a lot and the short walk to Bellagio or Aria wasn't an issue.

Two thumbs up and I would stay there again any time.

 

yep, I agree. Ask for a high floor, north facing to give a great view of the fountains at Bellagio, we were on the 51st floor at it was a terrific view. Wifi worked perfectly for 2 Apple gadgets, used skype back to the UK with no noticable lag. Valet never kept us waiting and you are within a 5 minute stroll to 2 or more casino hotels.

Great!! One of the best experiences ever. Beautiful and easy place.

You have to valet, they have no self-park. you could always park at Aria or Bellagio if that was really an issue for you.

You can ask for them, I don't believe everything was in the room. All I recall making was coffee, and I fluffed my clothes in the dryer. If you are planning on making entire meals you should probably call them and plan ahead. But if it's just to heat up a bagel or oatmeal or something I'm sure they can easily accommodate you

All those rooms should have a great view! Mine was on the corner towards Bellagio and Cosmo (which i assume is where all of them are). You don't really get a full on strip view because Vdara is set back a ways.. It's kind of a view of CityCenter. I'd say higher the better. You have a nice view from all sides of the room. We could see the fountains in the bathroom haha

Aria is the easiest to get to it's literally across the driveway. There is a tram stop near there. It's a little difficult to get to Cosmo... best bet would be walk through Crystals... well best safe route.

It was fine. Typical hotel internet... it's not super speedy but should be fine for websurfing.

not true easiest way to get to cosmo is take take the elevator on the outside of vdare to street level and walk across the street to cosmo real quick and easy

Everyone else here has been spot on with their comments about Vdara. I absolutely loved my stay in the City Corner Suite last year. They do provide you with detergent and dryer sheets, it's just not in the room. I had to call and request it, but they brought it right up in a few minutes. It sounds odd, but I actually enjoyed having the washer and dryer in the room. I was able to pack a little bit lighter then usual and just wash the few things I wanted to wear again.

 

I'll be staying at Vdara from 13-18 NOV (City Corner Suite) and will definitely post a report (mainly pictures with captions) when I return. I'm hearing all great things about Vdara and looking forward to staying there...

 

When I arrive at Vdara, I'll definitely call and request detergent/dryer sheets. I totally agree with you about packing lighter but I'm looking forward to going home with a suitcase full of clean clothes this trip

 

I can't wait for your trip report! We have a City Corner Suite for a week in December and I just love seeing what a room or suite 'really' looks like before I get there!

There are no utensils at all in the rooms. I do believe there was one coffee mug as the rooms come with a Keurig coffee maker (I've stayed there before where they forgot to stock the room with actual coffee).

I've stayed in four different room types there (Exec Corner, Panoramic, 1 BR Loft, & 2 BR Penthouse). I think the only room that doesn't come with a full-on kitchen is the basic Deluxe Suite. Having an actual full-size refrigerator is a nice luxury if you like to get away from gambling and just relax in a nice room. You don't have to continuously run down the long corridor to refill the ice bucket and all of their rooms have a really nice/unique set up.

My last stay there in July wasn't as great as the others have been, but just because one of the phones didn't really work and housekeeping never left an AV cord in the room to connect my ipod with the entertainment center/TV dock they have...and it took them about an hour and a half to bring one up to me. They also said I could check in at 1 PM and then decided I couldn't get into my room (not a huge deal), but they gave me keys and a room number and told me they'd call me when it was ready. The call never came, but I just went to the room at 4 PM and had the bell lads bring up my checked baggage.

I really like the place and you picked a great spot. It takes about 8-10 minutes to walk through the covered walkway to the Bellagio casino and there is a tram in between the two properties that takes you over to Monte Carlo (if you want to go). Aria is literally forty yards away and it takes about 5-8 minutes to get to the Cosmopolitan (which would be your quickest way to LV BLVD). You just have to walk out the front and go down a stairwell (or take the elevator) on the left and walk down the sidewalk to where the taxi/valet/drop off area is at Cosmo (first opening on your left).

Appreciate all the info, tdhoier-- Before I check into Vdara, I plan to make a run to Super Wal-mart and will be sure to include K-cups and coffee mugs on my list.

That’s too bad about your stay in July… What type of room did you have? I definitely need my gadgets hooked up so will be sure to complain LOUDLY if I run into the same problem you did…

Late to the party, but I love the Vdara. A haven away from things if you want to avoid too much crazy time. Easy, easy walk to Bellagio and Aria. Absolutely an awesome spot. Well worth the lower rates so you can gamble more

 

Well said dannyocean! Looks like I made the right decision to stay at Vdara but will confirm when I return...

 

Good call on the Walmart...it's nice to just relax in a nice room when you're there for 72 hours and do what you do to your body (what I do, anyway).

The rooms have always had an AV Cord in the 'work desk' drawer. It just so happened that this was the one time I forgot to bring my own and it wasn't there.

This past trip was a Panoramic Suite for two nights. The third night I switched it to the 2 BR Penthouse because I always wanted to check their Penthouses and it was literally only about $130 more than I was paying for the other room....well worth it.

Going in four weeks and got a too good to pass up deal at a Suite at The Mirage...but I wavered about spending the additional dough over at Vdara. It really is an excellent choice and you won't be disappointed.
