    My Trip Report

It has been a while since I typed up a longer trip report, so I figured why not now. The plan for the trip was pretty simple: meeting my two sisters in vegas for a two night getaway of family catchup time and fun. Bottom line, we all had fun. The details ….

Flew in on the first direct flight out of Nashville last Thursday morning. Flight was smooth and uneventful. Hopped off the plane and found my driver from the Wynn. Straight over to the Suite Tower VIP checkin. I’ve only stayed there a couple times, but I am always impressed how organized they are. One of the desk attendants was waiting for me as I got out of the car, knew by name, walked me inside, poured me a drink, and checked me in. The suite elevators are right next to checkin, which made it a quick trip up to the room to unpack my bankroll and nothing else! My sisters were not arriving until later, so it was time to hit the tables.

My host set me up with an increased credit line, so after a few quick signatures, I hit the craps table. Everything went as planned. Played for about 45 minutes. The table was cold when I was on the don’t, and got hot when I was shooting from the pass. I even hit the all tall and all small, although nobody was betting it. Oh well, I was still up about $8k and got a text form my younger sister that she had just arrived.

Walked her up to the suite and then we went back downstairs for lunch. Stopped in Zoosacrackers, grabbed a vegan burger (really good, BTW), and we caught up. Knew we had a couple hours til my other sister arrived, so I stopped in the sports book to place a few wagers and then hit the bac room. This is where things went south …..

Mostly held steady for about an hour, playing $1000 per hand. Then I couldn’t guess right at all! I lost eight straight hands and pretty quickly I was down $15k! Took out another marker for $30k and proceeded to lose it in twenty minutes! Uh oh. Definitely time for a break. Went back to the sportsbook and found out that none of my early baseball bets were looking good. Now, I wanted a real break form gambling. My other sister arrived and we all went to the pool.

The tower suites pools are great. They are on a pool deck above the main pool and both pools are salt water instead of chlorine. We all laid out for a couple hours, had drinks, and soaked up the sun. I also ducked into an empty cabana at one point. It looked very nice and would definitely want to check one out next summer.

After that, I took a nap while my sisters went shopping. After I woke up, I played half a shoe of bac, won $4k and was feeling better about my bets. Of course, at this point, I realized I had missed on every single baseball bet I made that day (yikes), but still had the Broncos minus 7.5 yet to come.
My sisters caught up with me and we all went to dinner at La Cave. Small menu, but all the food was excellent. We had a good time and by the time were finished, my sister’s had drank way too much wine and went upstairs to bed. I hit the craps tables again and dropped another $20k in 45 minutes. At this point, I was starting to feel like it just wasn’t my week! Decided I would play another $10k at craps, betting large. If I caught up, fantastic. If not, I might just quit gambling for the trip and enjoy the pool some more.

I’m alone at the table at this point, betting the don’t. My line bet is $1600 with full odds behind it. Boom! Quick seven out. Yes! Make the same bet again and get another quick seven out. Double yes!! Having won back most of the $20k I had just lost, I decided to move back to bac. I told myself I would play one shoe and then hit the bed. Fortunately, it was a good shoe. Won about $14k and began to hope I could keep the weekend losses under $10k. I could live with that, considering that at one point during the day I was down almost $50k! Decided to get some rest.

Woke up early on Friday and my sisters and I went to the spa. It was my first experience at the Wynn spa and I was a bit disappointed. The spa was good, but small. There was nothing special about the amenities and the décor was rather dull. Ultimately, I would easily rank the Aria, Bellagio, Cosmo, and Caesars spas much higher than Wynn. The Wynn spa was more on a level with the Mirage and Mandalay Bay spas. Good, but nothing to go out of your way to try out. Considering how mice the rest of the resort is, the spa was disappointing.

After that it was time for lunch. My sisters wanted to try to the buffet, which was very good. Then they went off for more shopping and I decided to explore the Encore side of the hotel. I like the Encore décor and it doesn’t have the same hustle and bustle of Wynn. So I snuck into the bac room, found a tale for myself, and the ganbling gods shined on me. I caught a fantastic shoe and played my way all the way back to even!!! Once I hit even I decided to take a break.

Went back to the room and found my sisters watching a storm roll in over the valley. Decided to relax for a bit, catch up with them, and watch the storm. The rest of the afternoon was winning baseball bets, some more smaller wins at craps, and then getting ready for dinner.

Before dinner, my host had given us tickets to la Reve. It was a very good show. I am not a Cirque aficionado, but I would rank it just below O. Definitely worth seeing. After that, we had dinner at Mizumi. We chowed down on sushi and then my sisters decided they wanted to see the Mirage volcano. So out we walked to Las Vegas Avenue and started south. We reached the street across from the Volcano just in time for the show. After that, we ducked into Harrahs for a drink and for me to place some NFL bets. At this point, I reached into my pocket to count my chips and cash and figure out how much I was up from all my baseball bets and afternoon gambling. O my surprise, I was up over $25k!! No idea how that happened. I knew I had a good afternoon gambling, but hadn’t really kept track of my total wins. Excited to find myself up so much after being wayyyyyy down, I decided to wager conservatively on the NFL and call it a night. Placed a few bets and we walked back to Wynn.

Once we got back, my sisters went off in search of more drinks and I found my bed. I was asleep ten minutes later …..

Next morning was the last morning in town. We hit the Wynn buffet for breakfast and then my older sister left for Mount Whitney in California to take on a monster hiking expedition. The younger sister wanted to walk the Strip some more before I had to leave, so we walked down to Flamingo, popped in for some drinks and low rolled some roulette. She won, I lost, and we both got drinks. All is good. After that, we crossed the street and decided to check out the animal habitat at Mirage. My problem gambler, I mean Noir, card got us in for free, which was the appropriate price. Saw some playful dolphins and a bunch of sleepy big cats. Wouldn’t pay to see it, but for the low low price of “free”, it was worth it. After that, we walked back to Wynn, packed up, thanked my host for a fun weekend, and headed to the airport.
Overall, a super fun trip. I’m trying to attach some pics below of the room, the view, the wildlife, and the winnings! Hope you enjoyed the read ….

    Mmmm....chocolate chip...

Nice comeback. How much temptation to turn it into something bigger did you have to resist?

Encore spa is way better than Wynn, by the way.

Zero, lol. After the big loss early on day one, my goal became trying to get my loss back down to four digits. When I realized I was up five digits, I was thrilled and more than ready to pack it in for the trip.

Although, at one point, my younger sister teased me to place a $20k bet right when I was coloring up the table. I jokingly asked her which side to bet and she said player. The dealer gave us a free hand and player won with a natural 8! Oh well

I think she is staying home this October. I just got the report that she survived her hike up death mountain and she is pooped. Right now, the annual bday trip is shaping up to be a solo affair. I need friends to come party in the wraparound suite :drunk:

Based on the shadows I'd guess that they were taken in the morning. Great trip report!

I just realized our countdown timers are almost dead on with each other. Maybe we will both be able to take pictures of our chocolate chips next trip!

I hiked Mt Whitney August 28th and my legs were sore afterwards. Long and lots of elevation change.
