Table Games Got my first fire bet.

Hit 4 numbers and was working on the fifth when the 7 appears.
This time I remembered to play the fire bet and had $2 down.

This was only part of the story. Actually went on a pretty good roll as more than 4 points were made, but only 4 counted toward the fire bet. In between hitting points a lot of numbers were getting hit. Although I didn't have all the numbers covered, there were a few people who definitely took advantage of the hot table.

It was great as it was my last time playing on my last night. Definitely a nice way to end the trip.

I've also hit four to the fire but never anything more. Well at least at a table that offers it. At my local I've drilled 9 points once but no fire option.

The fun part is you'll never know when that will happen.

I don't think the Boyd properties Downtown have the fire bet.... I would bet on it if it was available.

In April, in successive nights, I swung by the flamingo on a strip gambling tour. And hit the bet for 5 points the first night, and all 6 the second night. I was the only person at the table to have the bet on the second night... Total newbie rolling, his buddy had to show him how to roll his first couple rolls, lol. The second night the guy hit about 11-12 points, it took about 8 points to get the fire bet, then kept hitting. It was only me and one other experienced player at the table, otherwise full of new players. Average win was probably 150-200 bucks. The other experienced player had me beat, but I still took about 2800.00 off the table. I think he had nearly 3500...

 

I've been there for a few 4's and a couple 5's. I myself almost got all six at Harrah's St. Louis before it changed brands. I have five done with the 10 being my last number. I actually had the 10 as my point but couldn't get it done.

That night they had 3 tables opened (2 - $10 tables and 1 - $5 table).
All were packed but for some reason one of the $10 tables went to $5 which is very unusual especially at night. The table also went from being full to only 2-3 people playing. Jumped in at the end of the table and was the second person to shoot.

 

Congrats on your fire bet win! It sure feels good to hit that bet. I've won the fire bet 5 out of 6 numbers five times since I've played it. I've been at two tables that got 6 out of 6 numbers, but unfortunately I didn't play the fire bet. I've hit 4 out of 6 numbers quite a few times. It takes quite a roll to hit just 4 separate numbers, let alone 5 or 6.

 

Happed to me twice in Jan 2012 (during CES). First night I got 5 points and got $250 for $1. This was at Bally's. The next night (my last evening) I was at the Paris and got all 6 with a $1 bet which is $1000. Plus more on my other bets, so cashed in $1300 after it was all done. This was with a $100 initial bet after the 30% tax taken off on the $1000 firebet win, being Canadian. Nice way to end my trip. First time I ever leave vegas a winner and felt great. Since then, I Always put $1 on firebets. One guy had $10 firebet and went around the entire Casino screaming his heart out, I can tell you lots of people rushed over to the table to see what was going on! I think 6 of us had firebets going.

 

Can anyone explain the statistical disadvantage of laying the 6th point when you've already hit 5?

Two times I've hit 5 points and the shooter rolls a 6th (coincidentally 10 both times). I don't place odds, instead I'll lay the 10 for as much as I can.

I had a $2 fire, so the payoff on a hit is $2000-$1000 lay = $1000.
If it sevens out, the payfoff is 2x$500 + $475 lay =$975.

Who wouldn't take the guaranteed money?

 

Not sure about the statistical disadvantage but would speculate many gamblers view it as possibly hitting a $2K bet rather than playing it safe and hedging ones bet to win less than $2k.

Usually one would hedge a bet to prevent a loss and not hedge a bet to decrease a potential win.

I always told myself that: if I had a firebet going and made the first five and set the sixth, I would the last point. It is a strategy you need to have I place before the situation happens, because once the fifth number is hit and the sixth one is set, things get pretty wild and the table and thinking clearly is not really possible.

So one time I did make five numbers and set the sixth (the eight). I had $5 on the firebet so I had $1250 guaranteed and the possibility of a $5000 payout. So I reached for all the greens in my stack and layed $700 on the eight. I also maxed out my odds (although I was only playing $5 on the pass line) and put $25 on the hard eight. Sure enough. I hit it with a 4-4 hardway!. I had no problems saying goodbye to the lost $700 as I filled out the tax forms.

But -

Looking back on it, I am not sure I would do it again. With the eight or a six, there are pretty good odds you will hit the point before the seven - the house advantage is really pretty small. The eight will be thrown statistically 13.9% of the time versus a seven 16.7%. With the five or nine (11.1%) - or more so with the four and ten (8.3) - the hedge might be worth it.

Besides, you are going for the big score...ride the momentum as much as you can.

 

On a $10 Fire Bet, I lay the 5th point for a $1000 but do not lay the 6th as you are guaranteed $2500 if you made the 5th point but only $250 on the made 4th point.

 

Also: Laying the marked 4th 5th or 6th Points in a Firebet is one of the few can't lose sure thing bets in Vegas!

 

Was at Harrhas last year on a hot table. Saw a guy hit the fire with a 5 dollar chip down. He walked away with a ton of money. No one else at the table had the bet, but the pit crew really got into the action. Loved the nite and no such luck here

 

I was unaware they issued tax forms forms at the tables. What are the rules for this?

 

Hit it twice- once in Missouri and once in Pennsylvania. Both times, for any payout greater than $1000, they make you fill out the form. It may vary by state. PA withheld 25%. Missouri did not withold anything. Remember that any wins that are reported can be offset by losses. Since I had players club cards in PA, they track my losses and I got statements at the end of the year. Another good reason to always use a players card.

 

That was a surprise to me too. There are plenty of people who play blackjack betting more than $1000 per hand. Are they filling out a tax form every time they win a hand???? That would really slow down the game.

 

I have to admit, have not ever done this on the Fire Bet. I have hit 4 several times, and 5 twice. Next time I get to 5, will definitely lay the 6th. Going on Friday, can't wait....

 

According to what I was told, they are IRS takes taxes on the 6 Point Fire Bet Winners because of the payout of 1000 to 1. When I won, they took $2500 on the spot and required 2 IDs and a signed form from the IRS. That was a few years ago and I heard they no longer take the money on the spot but you are expected to file it on your Tax Returns.

For all those wondering about the tax implications: In my opinion the "THRILL" of a 6 Point Fire Bet is truly a wonderful experience! I've won it twice and I am literally hooked on it. Its a tough thing to accomplish but it really is a great experience!
