I've only stayed on the strip and visited downtown a few times. I'm planning a possible downtown stay. Part of the reason is to do a less expensive trip. Another reason is check out downtown during VIMFP. Aside from gambling, eating and drinking, when I'm on the strip I usually walk a lot and check out the casinos. What is there to do downtown that's touristy or involves walking? I've done the Mob Museum and the neon museum.
Is there a good downtown things to do guide?

I did it on a day time visit downtown. Technically it wasn't a Twinkie because it was when the Twinkie was unavailable. I thought it was decent, not as sweet and greasy as I feared!

At night/evening go to Binion's and either have a drink or steak and enjoy the view...especially LVStip side.

In Binion's(if you've never been) you need to ask where the glass elevator that takes you to the steakhouse is located.....first time is kinda difficult to find.

    Daytime:...evening

If you want a REAL TOURIST place to visit.....Gold and Silver Pawn.

The Pawn Stars show/pawn shop is South of Fremont. Kinda a long walk but a cab should be cheap.

    It's a real tourist trap....

Looking North....you can kinda see downtown and the jail.
***Not my picture, I went here before the TV show and glad I did. SMALL-VERY SMALL SHOP**

That Binion's view looks amazing! I'll definitely have to get a drink up there.
