If I book an MLife offer and my wife books her Mlife offer, then we link our cards prior to our visit. Will MLife still recognize the 2 bookings as separate? If we link our cards prior to our visit, we are gold after October 1st. If we don't we are pearl for the year. We arrive after October 1st.

even after you're linked you will still get separate offers and can book both.

Think twice before linking. It may or may not be good for you.

We linked since my wife plays very, very little. But, if you each play heavy and get offers on your own, maybe not a good idea.

what are the pros and cons of linking?

who can link, only husband and wife or anybody?

does it combine both the tier? one person have 120000 tier while the other person have 80000 tier, so linking it would make both platinum?

if u do all the play, could your wife (no play) go to a host and ask for comps?

    offers better or worse?

I am not sure, but I think the TIER goes to to one person.

You can easily put a second persons play on one card - just give them an extra card.

    How do linked accounts work?

Two members with the same address may link individual M life accounts to share their point and Express Comps balances. Both members must visit an M life desk in the resort and show a valid identification to link accounts. M life maintains separate account numbers and account histories for every member. Restrictions apply at MGM Grand Detroit.

    True.

When I was Plat, my wife got a plat card. When I hit NOIR, they would not give her a NOIR card, only Plat.

We have always had a linked MLife account. Our TCs show up as a combined amount to figure our status. For example if my husband has 15000 TCs and I have 20000 TCs then our combined amount is 35000 and we both have Pearl status.

Our ECs are combined as well on our account. However, our point play amount is shown separate.

host, can person B (no play) ask a host for comp based on person A's play? and vice versa

I think if you are married (or reside at the same address) then this is allowed. I did book an offer that was listed under my husband's card and was allowed to check in without him there. I just made it very clear while I was booking it that he wouldn't be travelling so that they would make the necessary notes on the reservation. I was even allowed to use his free play promo during that stay. The MLife desk just activated it (I brought his card) when they saw we were on a joint account and we live at the same address.

As far as a host is concerned I'm not sure, we aren't big enough players for a host.

wow checkin in without the actual person being there....awesome

speaking of checkin in, u know how they try to enforce that 3 days between stay crap? can u and your husband switch back and forth between offers? like u do a free room for 4 days then he do a free room for the next four days, as in no skipping 3 days in between

I've asked that question (for staying at the same property) and was told no, since we have a shared account. But I was able to book an offer at Mirage for 2 nights and then the third on another offer at Aria and no questions were asked. I don't remember if one was mine and one was his tho.

primary comp, the most important thing to me, do marketing and host only look at my primary comp or do they look at both accounts primary comp? would i need to earn twice as much to get the same amount of comp? since the other person doesnt even gamble

no, it doesn't hurt you to link with your wife that doesn't gamble. it gets her a card that she can use for status/line cuts/etc and/or spend your ECs. but she's not going to magically start getting a bunch of offers now.

My husband and I were linked for several years. I'm the heavy-lifter in terms of earning comps. If both of our names were on a reservation, he was able to check in. That was fine when we were both gong to be there. The problem I encountered is that he occasionally goes to LV with his buddies. When he used my RFB comp without me there to play hard, it adversely affected my status and comps. I de-linked our accounts for that reason. Now he earns some of his own comps, but he can't live the good life unless I'M there!! :haha: So, if the person you're linked with occasionally travels solo and doesn't hold up his or her end, I don't think linking is a good idea. Otherwise, I don't really see any down side.

Ever since I linked my moms card (doesn't gamble, MyVegas only), she has been getting all the Corporate offers and I'm getting property specific ones. I was told if she wanted to book a corporate offer to use the Freeplay and resort credit, that I would need to cancel my reservation (going together). Is this normal?

That's ridiculous. My wife has always had a noir card and has never gambled a dime.
