For my best friend and I on September 13-16 (Fri-Mon). I got us $200 roundtrip tickets on a direct flight, Friday night for free @ MGM Grand (Thanks myVegas!) and Saturday and Sunday night @ Hooters for $140 a piece. Soo altogether I was able to pull this thing off with a little over $300. I'm pretty proud of myself, and extremely pumped!!

He and I haven't been able to get away from our jobs and better halves for a while so I figured why not. This is the Mayweather fight weekend so I couldn't believe I was able to still score such a good deal. I could've stayed at Luxor or MGM for around $50-100 more but Hooter's should be good enough for a couple dudes who are familiar with that particular hotel/casino anyway.

Anyways, I just had to tell someone ha, and if anyone has any suggestions or any comments for our trip thanks!!

Congrats, that sounds like a great deal!
Hope you have a fantastic time.

My next trip is booked for the first week in November, but I'm still checking for mega deals so I can go in September. You've given me some hope!

Two nights at Hooters for $280? Isn't that quite steep?

Haha, awesome! You really gotta love those sort of moments  My upcoming trip with friends came about almost the same way. Southwest had a ridiculous 72 hour sale that made airfare less than $200, and the rest just fell into place within hours of booking. Once airfare's out of the way, the rest comes so easily and cheaply, it's hard to argue against it even if it's last minute!

I'm assuming that is 2 rooms, so $70 a night, maybe?

Maybe the fight jacked up the rates??? Otherwise I had the same thought.

The fight has jacked up the prices at all the strip hotels. For example Harrahs is like $230/night, Mirage is $300+ etc. I would not be surprised that Hooters is running $140 a night given that it's right next to MGM.

Yeah the fight really raised all the hotel prices that weekend. That Hooters rate is actually 2 nights-1room and includes 25% off. But it also includes all taxes/charges besides the resort fee. That was seriously the cheapest I could find w/o going downtown or staying at Best Western. If you guys know of anything cheaper or suggest anything please let me know.

At that price I would seriously consider going hoteltonight on your cell phone that day after noon. I am willing to bet you will find a room for $25 or less. Hooters is on there often for $19, as is LVH. Fight or not, there are better deals out there.

Do you think that will be dependable enough though? I mean, we're there Friday night comped at MGM so we're good there but I don't want to be checking out of MGM with luggage in tow Saturday morning scrambling ya know? But my buddy is going to be tight on money so if you guys think it's worth it to just try and figure something out for Sat/Sun once we're there, I'll consider it anyway.

So after a quick look over my many e-mails I found a complimentary night sun-thurs from MGM Grand. So after a short convo with a lovely young lady at MGM, we are now booked for Friday and Sunday nights at MGM fo free!! Woo-hoo! Now what to do about that pesky Saturday night...Glad I didn't finalize reservations for Hooters on saturday and sunday ha.

How much for the room at MGM to just stay there Saturday... I've done the moving around "thing", but much prefer to just drop my stuff in one room till I'm leave for the airport. Maximizes the fun time!

In this particular scenario I would highly advise against this strategy. Many of the hotels are completely sold out already. On top of the Mayweather fight, there's also a UNLV home football game. The Quad is running 230 a night right now. There is nothing at the MGM.

I personally wouldn't want to be risking going the Hotel tonight route, when there's already a very limited availability of rooms this far out. You probably won't see the typical discounts you would, and there's a high likelihood you won't end up anywhere near the strip.

Yep, I didn't consider that option long. I've talked to a few different hotels about saturday night so far this morning and here's what I've gotten:

    Sat. 9/14 Room Rates:
Hooters: $257.26 includes resort fee, taxes, charges
    Excalibur: $264.32 + $15 Resort Fee
Luxor: $366.24 includes resort fee, taxes, charges

Needless to say, it is slim pickings so far...kinda putting a damper on our trip just for the fact that it's going to cost an arm and a leg for saturday night. But oh well, I'll keep digging.

Yep you picked a rough weekend for a last minute trip. You'd have been way better off the weekend before. I'm headed into town that week also but I'm leaving Friday before all the craziness with the fight gets rolling.

That's very exciting! I've always thought I would do a spontaneous trip, but never have!

Have you considered the LVH? While it's not on the strip, it is an easy monorail ride to/from the MGM Grand. Vegas.com has it for $180 for the night of 9/14 right now.
