I was just on Expedia.ca looking to book my upcoming trip...
and was in the process of paying for a stay @ the D, and a message stated
that starting Aug 8 there will be a $20/day resort charge, there is a discrepancy, on the first page where you select your hotel, it says No Resort fee, but later $20/day, WTF. Does anyone have the 411. Thanks in advance.

For reservations starting Aug 19 at both the D and Golden Gate. $20 per night resort fee includes $10 off show tickets, Internet, and phone calls.

Bad news and only a matter of time before resort fees are everywhere. But $20 at the D is just ridiculous. Rooms are $29 on the date this is implemented. $29 + $20 resort fee. :rolleyes2:

Derek Stevens seems a nice guy and it's good to see a statement that isn't all marketing speak but it's hard to imagine most of that new $20 charge being reflected in the promised lower room rates.

Cancelled my reservation. I'm not paying an extra $100 for a 5 night stay. $20 a night is outrageous! I posted my disappointment on their facebook page so we'll see if there is any response.

Show tickets, the peaks at the boobies at the golden gate are free aren't they? Maybe the GG will bring back the piano player and call that a "show"?

Pretty soon these places DT will start calling the bums wandering outside part of the perks for staying at their place(s). :)

The GG standard rooms are barely worth $20. Haven't stayed at The D, but a makeover of stale Fitzgerald rooms did not resolve issues with the bathroom / plumbing or the notorious elevators.

T Baby is definately upset with these latest developments.

Just another way of raising hotel rates without raising hotel rates. I can see if they charge $9 a night with a $20 resort fee but $49 a night ($29 nightly rate + $20 resort fee) is nothing more than a scam to try to increase revenue. As with the plaza and GN, just include all fees when looking at hotel rates, if those rates with the fees are lower than other hotels w/o fees then I would stay there, otherwise I will just stay elsewhere.

With the refurbishment of the D I guess it was expected that they would start charging a resort fee but the GG also? now that is a rip off, other than adding another "wing" they really haven't done much to improve their rooms at the GG IMHO.

who is next? 4q? EC? I hope that the boyd group doesn't participate in this scam but then vacations hawaii charter is now charging for bags on the plane, they weren't charging for bags but now they do so it is possible that if it catches on then they might also participate.

Strange as a lot of the public despises these scam fees, yet more hotels are starting to charge resort fees. :Þ

Makes the Golden Nuggets $5 fee a great bargain by comparison.

    That's a Mid-Strip level resort fee, not the "D"... Un-beevable.

It would be different if they were to calculate room costs, subtract $20 and then publish it, but that won't happen. For that reason his statement is garbage.

It won't be long before Golden Nugget starts charging a $15-$20 resort fee in addition to the $5 FSE fee.

"Our resort fees will enable us to offer lower room rates...."

Are you F'n kidding me? So they expect us to accept that raising rates lowers rates? Nothing like insulting your clientele's intelligence.

while many people search for the best rates by price many people are also smart enough to know that the resort fees vary by hotel and company and so they are smart enough to include the fees in the total cost of a stay. his claims are nothing than a smoke screen to raise rates by giving the excuse of a "resort fee". Like I mentioned before, if they charged $9 a night for the room and $20 resort fee it will be okay, but to charge close to their normal prices and then add on the $20 fee is nothing more than raising hotel rates and trying to hide the increases in the resort fee. I see nothing that warrants a $20 resort fee at the GG IMHO. guess I will never stay at the GG again at this rate.
