I have never used a host, about 30 trips to vegas and take 2-3 k to play. Will a host even care about someone like me. If so there an advantage. I usually get second tier offers now

There are a half dozen active threads about this same topic. You might want to scroll through those.

As to you situation, it has little bearing about what you take. It is all about what you bet, play, etc.

    What are second tier offers?

    Where do you play?

It does not matter how much money you take or what your credit line is, but rather what you play and how aggresive you play. If you play slots you have a bigger house advantage and the game moves much faster than most table games so the comps will be more liberal. If you play games with a low house advantage like blackjack, craps, pai gow then the comps will be more restrictive. It also is how long you are at the table and what your minimum wager is. Last it matters where you play. If your on the strip you won't get rated unless you bet $25.00, where downtown you can get rated for $5.00 bets. Usually you must play for at least four hours a day to get anything worth having. I'm solely a craps player and hardly get anything outside the occasional buffet and qaurterly offers even though I bet $10.00 a roll and play for six hours a day on average at downtown casinos.

Generally on the strip they will comp you 10% of your actual loss at the end of your trip. So as long as you are using your card and you lose your $2-3,000 then visit the players club desk before you check out and see what they say. You should get your room or some of your food taken off whatever you charged to your room.

If your playing $5 blackjack at the aria and they never turned in a rating sheet for you, it won't be in their system. At a lower tiered casino, they may turn in a rating card for your play.

That's how I started out doing it. and soon enough if your play is good enough a host will latch on to you.

If your bankroll goes all in the slot machine, definitely talk to someone before checking out. You are who they want to go there. That's about my wife's slot budget and they treat her better than my $100 or more ave bet at the tables.

First time I have ever heard this happening - other than those in the $100,000+ loss bracket.

Thanks for the information. I play at Ballys and Herrhas because they give me some low level offers. Love vegas and vibe, will be out again in August for more fun and gambeling. 10-25 bj and 5-10 craps. I know I am low man in vegas but still love city. When my lovely wife comes with me we do shows and great restarunts.

It sounds like you are getting all that your play warrants on the Strip, and you are having a great time during your trips. Your play doesn't warrant a host, but you do not need one for the types of comps your play dictates. You would likely get better comps downtown, but I wouldn't chase after comps if you are happy with what you receive and the hotels you are currently staying.

The only thing I would possibly do different (if you do not already log into Total Rewards), is to log into Total Rewards and check both the offers section and the "All Destination (Vegas) Room Calendar" to see your comp or low cost eligible room offers. Many people only check offers without realizing they have free room nights at several hotels.

I'm platinum (earned last year during Race to Rewards bet outside of Vegas) and although my formal offers in the offers section are limited to two or three week nights at their lower tier properties, I can find comped rooms at all properties including decent Caesars rooms (i.e. non Roman Tower) on weekdays and 5 + night blocks at most properties which allow me to crash and not move during my long Vegas trips (10-14 nights).

Also, check once or twice a week as the comps or room rates on the calendar changes as the time toward your trip approaches. They will open up rooms sometimes during low demand periods. The best advice is to book what you can upfront and check back to see if you have better (or more preferred) hotel room comps available. You'll need to cancel your existing reservation to rebook during the same time period (or within 3 days prior to or after your existing reservation). As you get within a month of your stay, room rates typically only increase and some comp rooms turn into rooms at a paid rate.

Wow, that's pretty generous, if indeed true. Which hotels/casinos on the strip do this? I know CET will give you a 5% cash rebate for losses totaling in excess of $10,000, granted if you haven't use a lot of other comps already.

Well, I don't know about Reno, but New Orleans (in the past) and Vegas (currently) have given me 5% cash back for losses over 10K, so I would say don't be too surprised. Also, keep in mind that CET has multiple marketing depts (domestic, Latino, and Asian marketing), with each dept having leeway to make specific determinations on what they deem is appropriate. Perhaps it has a lot to do with my host, but my host has never shortchanged me in regards to my loss rebates.

Various CET properties offer different rebates. For instance, at the CET property in CA, they don't give rebates to any other table games except for Baccarat, and it's based on your total monthly loss there of over $25,000.

Heck, CET in Tunica gave me airfare reimbursement, even though my theo did not cover. My host was nice enough to consider my loss of $8,000 as a factor in issuing me the airfare.

Just be aware that even within the same casino/resort company, different regions offer different offers.

I believe what he was referring to was just getting comps worth 10% of your actual loss, not 10% of your actual loss back in the form of cash/promo chips/free play.

comps are always based on up to 40% of theo or 10% actual loss, whichever is greater. this isn't a big secret. as far as discounts/rebates, those are few and far between these days and generally only with large losses and remaining unused comps. or you can get them sometimes without a loss, but you have to have lots of extra theo.

I don't think whether or not you "deserve" a host, and what comps you get are always that easy to calculate. In my experience, it depends on the place you're talking about, or, perhaps, the corporate policies of chains. Whether or not you get a host is up to the individual casino, and dealing with a host can be positive or negative. In many cases, it's easier to deal with marketing offers directly. But if you want a particular room, a late checkout, or some things comped at the end of your stay, a host is a must. As for comps, I find this varies greatly from place to place (or from chain to chain). I consider not only up front comps (rooms, food, freeplay), but also point multipliers, point exchange values, and cash back in determining what I'm getting from the casino. I'll give a place one or two stays to see what develops, and if I don't like things, I'll move on. But once I find a place I like, I'll keep going there as long as things seem positive to me. Some places seem to also reward loyalty to a certain degree.

    That is totally false.

I'm a $10-20 a hand BJ player and I get rated at all the CET joints. That play gets me 5 free weekday nights at the lower properties.

This just isn't true, and I feel like we've been over this a million times in the last few months. While MGM's "policy" might be $25/hand minimum (and even that's not entirely clear), it varies from casino to casino and even pit boss to pit boss; I've personally been rated at $10/hand or $15/hand at both Mandalay Bay and Bellagio, have seen others get rated at those levels, and plenty of other people here have had similar experiences.

As far as the 10%, it was in comps not a rebate or promo chips. I doubt back then my ave bet was hardly $25 so the host said I didn't earn enough comps to hardly cover the room I was comped up front, but if he used the 10% of my actual loss, he could cover my meals charged to the room.

So the OP could possibly be earning $200 of comps off his $2000 actual loss if he can get it all rated on his card

My experience has only been at mlife casinos. CET hasn't seemed like they appreciate the action I've given them in the past, so I've never stayed there and never sought out or been approached by a host there
