I know this has been addressed many times in the past but I've missed prior posts. How busy do the sportsbooks get on Sundays during NFL season. I've never been out for a Sunday NFL viewing/betting and just wanted to know what I was getting into. Is it as bad as March Madness? Thanks for any help.

I've never been to one for March Madness, so I can't compare, but I have been for NFL games and they get very busy early. And remember the early games start at 10 AM in Vegas.

The LVH runs a nice game day event. It's in their showroom. All games are on (most with sound off). Satellite betting available and food and drink specials too. And it's non smoking.

I'm a vegas newbie and will making the trek for Week 5. What is satellite betting? Does the sportsbook give preference to people who are staying at that particular resort? Ie table reservations.

No. Not unless you're a huge player or you make a reservation at a sports bar or something. The sports books don't reserve seats for average joes, regardless of where you're staying. And on top of that, while there are some books that have 'tables' most just have seats.

Another option is to get all of your bets in early (I went to PH last year at 8:00 or so and was the only person in line), then find a VP bar (we went to Sporting House in NYNY last year) and watch the games there. Sure, I usually lose twice, once on the bets & again on the VP, but why not multitask if I'm only in Vegas for the weekend?

If you're going to do that, you don't have to get there that early. While the seats in the book are crowded, there's not ever a huge wait to get to a window, even on Sunday.

The last two NFL / NCAA Football trips I've taken with my buddies we have went to The STRAT for NFL Sunday. They set up on the second floor with all the games and the usual food and drink specials as well as satellite gambling stations in the large conference room that is converted for the games. Lots of fans with their team jerseys on and not too crowded. They also add two blackjack tables in the rear of the room with cleavage busting dealers i case your buddies need a break. Pretty well done by the Strat ! NCAA Football we hit Bellagio on Saturday for the free drinks and atmosphere.

I've lived in Vegas for a while and have been betting sports for 25 years. I've been to the LVH for Sunday NFL many times and I could not tell you what satellite betting is?? Yes it get's busy almost everywhere including off strip locations. I would agree with the person who said put your bets in early or night before. it is possible to get seats but you won't be able to reserve anything unless you've bet 10k and up a game on previous trips, at least not on the strip.

I've been going for NFL Sundays for the past ten years and I've also done a few first weekend March Madness'. First off, nothing compares to March Madness in Vegas sports books. I've never done a Super Bowl, but I've never seen more people trying to pack themselves into a sports book then on March Madness. It truly is madness.

On to NFL Sundays... If you go to a sports book on the strip, it's gonna be crowded for the first set of games that kick off at 10AM. Finding a seat for the 130PM games for one or two people might be difficult, but it can be done as long as you're willing to get there a little early and then hawk a chair as someone leaves for the early games.

If you want a seat in the book for the early games, you have to be there AT LEAST two hours early. I usually stake out my spot between 7AM and 730AM to make sure I get a prime spot. By about 8AM, spots are fading fast and by 815, you can kiss a reasonable seat goodbye... especially if you have a group. Usually I go down and save seats while friend(s) get food/booze or get ready.

Start looking at the lines immediately and place bets as soon as you've decided. Betting lines get extremely long and mostly the reason for that is because most morons have no clue how to bet on sports and sit at the front of the line chatting up the bet takers. If you want to bet the late games after the morning games have started... don't wait until the games are over to put in your bets. The lines are even worse then because everyone is cashing tickets and more bets are pouring in for the afternoon games.

TVs are always allocated to the games with the most action on them. The more action on a game, the better the location and the bigger the screen. Sound is the game with the most action on it. This is usually based on the action they've taken over the week prior to Sunday morning... so they know which TVs will have which games in advance.

This advice really applies to the better, more popular sports books in Vegas on the strip. If you go to some place like Harrahs or Hooters, it still might apply, but I don't know.

Another idea, is booking Lagasse's Stadium three months out and trying to score a seat in their stadium. Those seats will go the very day they're available for reservation, so if you go that route, book exactly three months out. The have guaranteed bar minimums, which means you have to guarantee you'll spend a certain dollar amount (per person) eating and drinking. The few times I've done that, it was $50/game/person. Loved it and stayed there the entire day. It's a great place to watch the game and with the reservations, you don't need to worry about getting there early... show up anytime and you'll get your seat.

What I like about the LVH is that besides a huge sportsbook, they also open up the theatre for the games. Thus, no need to arrive early to stake out a seat.
