Would it be rather easy to walk from the convention center monorail station to the Ross Dress for Less (the North location)? I google maps it and it says 15 mins..is that accurate? Would that be a safe place to walk in the daytime?
Or would it be better to just get cab to Ross because of the heat?

If I did that..would it be easy to get a cab back? (Staying at MGM in July)

    Thanks everybody!

Sure, it's walkable and I'm sure plenty safe in the daytime... right down Convention Center Drive. I'd venture to say the 15 minute walk-time is accurate too. Walk or cab? Guess that would be up to your tolerance for heat and exercise...July's usually a cooker. Regarding the availability of a cab? Well... there's sure lots of them in the area and the Riviera is just to the north of you.

Since you specifically mentioned "North location" we'll assume you know that there is a Ross store just one block away from MGM Grand.

From the convention center you would be looking at about a 1 mile walk.

The distance is walkable and safe, though as mentioned it can get pretty hot in July.

If you are at MGM Grand you can catch The Deuce right out front on The Strip and take that to the Ross store - it will be cheaper than the monorail and the bus stop where you get off is only a few feet away from the front door of the store.

If you are thinking of doing the taxi/monorail combo as a way to save money:
Because the taxis have a drop fee as soon as the meter starts, this combo isn't actually a money saver. For one person to take the monorail from MGM Grand to the convention center and then a cab to the Ross store, the estimated combined cost will be about $10.90 ($5 monorail ticket, $3.30 drop fee, $2.60 for a 1 mile ride). However, the cost to take a taxi from MGM Grand to the Ross store is about $9.80 ($3.30 drop fee, $2.60 per mile for 2.5 miles) - so it will actually be cheaper and faster to just take a cab.
And from that, if there is more than one of you going to the store then you will save money per person because of the added monorail ticket costs.

The Deuce doesn't go that direction. It's a safe walk and can be easily done, even in the summer.

I think the Deuce is what we will end up doing! Will we be getting off at the Convention Center Drive stop? Does this intersect with LV Blvd?

How easy will it be to get back to a stop on the other side of the street for the way back? On the way back it still says Convention Centre Drive..so is this not on the strip?

    Thanks for the help!

The stop you want to get off at is right after Convention Center Drive... as said above: the bus stop is just a few feet from the front door of the Ross store.

The stop to go back is on The Strip. You will need to walk down to Convention Center Drive, cross the street and then the bus stop to go back is about half a block down after that.

I think the confusion stems from where you are coming from. Sounded like you were starting from the convention center and then saying you decided to take the Deuce. The Deuce runs north and south on LV Blvd. Going NORTH, you can stop before or after Ross. The first is for Guardian Angel Cathedral, Convention Center Drive etc. After getting off the bus you walk north past a couple of shops and cross Convention Center Drive. There is a Walgreens on the corner, then Denny's then I think it is Ross. Should you miss the drop off, the next one is just the next block, Riviera, Circus Circus and yu would leave the bus and walk south to Ross.

Leaving Ross you can cross the street to catch the bus south either at Circus Circus at Slots of fun (north of Ross), or just about across from the first stop, just south of LVConvention Center Drive, on LV Blvd, there is a bus stop posted with a couple of seats. They are easy to see, and the area is safe day and night.

    1. Considering the fact you planned on taking the monorail, you can hit the Ross near MGM / M&M's after arriving at MGM via the monorail by walking through the entire casino, leaving out near the West Wing Bar, walking through the souvenir shop and walking about a block to your right once you leave the shop.

    2. If you plan on taking the monorail, get off at the LVH Stop - it's a shorter walk to Ross from there (just cut through the convention center parking lot). It's safe.

    3. If you plan on taking the Deuce, Jimbo's info is spot on.
