Coming to Vegas in mid July. Trying to decide between Mirage and Flamingo. Two couples early 40's. I have stayed at Mirage before, wife has not. Both have real nice pools, with maybe the Mirage a little bit more laid back. Am thinking we are up for something different and could try Flamingo. In a way, worried about the construction problems around the Flamingo, if they are indeed a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Mirage without question is 1.5-2 stars nicer then flamingo the pools at both places are nice but mirage rooms are far nicer. Honestly flamingo is not even as nice as excaliber Mlife properties are just nicer overall.

I stayed 2 nights at Mirage (courtesy of MyVegas game) and then 2 nights at Flamingo in May

Mirage - 2 nights in a Resort room that was over the pool that faced Caesars and pool was nice but no party pool..Dolphin bar at the pool is like it's own little Oasis. Didn't get to the casino much but it was a nice hotel and very clean room

Flamingo - 2 nights FAB Luxury room on the 21st floor faced Caesars...a serious downgrade from Mirage. It was cleanish but could have but could pay attention to cleaning more. Pool was fun fun fun...great pool party, played slots a bit fun hotel if you want something "less expensive"

If I want a nice relax time (like with my husband) I would do Mirage but if I want to party (with the girls) then probably Flamingo and get a GO room

Oh and no construction issues at Flamingo

If the pries are somewhat close Mirage. Not even an issue.

If price is the same, Mirage as JR. Otherwise depends on what you are looking for.

I agree with Butterfly, I have been to both pools and Flamingo was packed with a lot more action (kids too due to the condos behind that have pool access).

I have stayed at both and I will also be at the Flamingo in mid July. Here is my opinion.

Pool: The Flamingo Go pool is a bigger party pool. Lots of people and you need to get there early for a chair. On a Friday or Saturday you need to get in line early. The Mirage has a great pool area also and will be more laid back without as many drunk fools.

Rooms: The resort rooms at the Mirage are much nicer than the Fab rooms at the Flamingo. If you can get a Go room at the Flamingo than they are in the same league.

Sports book: Mirage in a landslide.

Food: For nicer dining options The Mirage by a large margin. The one thing The Mirage does not offer much of is quick cheap eats which the Flamingo does offer. I am a fan of Margaritaville at the Flamingo. Relaxed with some seating outside overlooking the strip.

Gaming: The Mirage has much better rules on blackjack. Especially if you are a green chip or higher player. Typical of CET properties you see more 6:5 BJ tables. Last time I was at The Flamingo there were some more 3:2 tables at $10-$15 a hand vs. years past. The Margaritaville casino provides nice scenery with the cw's. If you are a red or green chip player you will get some free room offers at CET properties. That won't give you much at MLife. I can't answer for slots or video poker as I don't spend much time on machines.

Location: Both are good. Flamingo will be closer to the Bellagio, Cosmo and City Center. Mirage is closer to the TI, Venetian and Wynn.

For my upcoming trip to the Flamingo it is with college friends who are all in our mid 30's. We are going for drinking, gambling and the pool. We are not worried about fine dining and the room is just a place to sleep 4-5 hours and take a shower. When I go with the wife I usually stay at Paris or Caesar's for the CET properties. For MLife we stay at the Mirage or Monte Carlo.

I love the beds at the Mirage. I don't care for the tiny bathrooms in the standard rooms. If you upgrade to a tower deluxe, you get the same room with a bigger bathroom. Probably worth it if travelling with your wife.

Mirage! It's night and day... and yea the construction around Flamingo is sticky.

Yes. I'd only stay at Flamingo if the rate was rock bottom.

I am trying to make the same decision.

I have a Fab room booked at the Flamingo for October. My Fri and Sat rates are $65 per night with Mon and Tue comped. In the past I have been able to get a Go Deluxe with the $20 sandwich. I realize however that is not a sure thing. We love the location. We liked the Go rooms. Don't really want a Fab room. Am likely going to call and see what the rates for a Go will be if I book directly. DH is Platinum so we don't have resort fees.

I also noticed a promo rate for Mirage through Mlife. I am quoted $49, $79, $39 and $39 for the same October time frame. With taxes and resort fee it is around $340. We like the Mirage. The location is ok but not as good as Flamingo. I may also use myvegas to get the last two for free knocking down my total.

This one is a dilemma. I would prefer a nicer room and don't mind paying a bit more for it. Love Flamingos central location.

What to do, What to do.

The location of the Mirage really isn't bad. You have a mostly shaded walk to CP and you can cut through the forum shops walking inside almost all the way to Bellagio pretty easily.

Having gotten hopelessly lost in the forum shops and CP on our last visit I have to disagree. But I do get your point. The walk (outside) is nice on that side of the street. We walked between Mirage and Planet Hollywood a few times and with the exception of one trip with a bad shoe choice it was not an issue.

It's hard to get lost in the Forum Shoppes, especially with so many maps and people around to ask directions. Very, very easy to navigate.

The only thing better at the Flamingo may be the pool, but you'll have to endure a lot of kids because of that.

If anything else matters to you (food, room, gambling, etc), stay at the Mirage.

I've been lost in there, for sure. But if you're just trying to cut through, you can mostly do it by keeping in the right direction. It's coming out the other side of B and trying to get farther south that sucks because you've got that long driveway.

Using the shops to cut through to the Bellagio from the Mirage, I always exit at the front doors. Is there a better way than that getting over to the Bellagio?

It's kind of at the left front of Caesars on the Bellagio end...not sure if that's the 'front door' or not. Or were you talking about the Caesars to Mirage part?

I was talking about walking from Mirage to Bellagio via Caesars. Usually we enter the shops and exit the front door. Didn't know if there was anyway of getting further toward or closer to the Bellagio in Caesars before we exited.

Kids as in young 20 somethings? The GO pool is 21+ and they have a different pool area for those under 21

Mirage to Bellagio and points south

We often stay at Mirage, with friends at Caesars and then dinner reservations at Bellagio or MGM. When the weather is cool, I would just walk directly along the Strip. Caesars gardens are quite lovely. In summer or when we need to meet someone inside Caesars first, we've found the shortest way, with the least exposure to the elements and to the maze of the Forum Shops, is as follows:

Exit Mirage via the walkway next to Rum Bar, turn right and walk around the corner into the entrance to Forum Shops.
Turn left immediately and stay left to skirt the Forum Shop circular escalator, then exit the first available doors just past Joe's. You'll be at the Forum Shops valet.
Turn right toward the statue that advertises the Planet Hollywood restaurant and continue walking outside around the edge of the Coliseum until you see glass doors to enter Caesars.
Bear left inside Caesars and continue walking south in the casino until you reach the main lobby (those of you who are comfortable with the Caesars layout may prefer to cut through Appian Way instead). In the main lobby, exit the doors that face the registration desk.
Walk out toward the Strip, passing the area where Absinthe is situated. Turn right toward Bellagio and take the stairs or escalator up to the pedestrian walkway across Flamingo Road.
Once in Bellagio, turn right to get to the casino. If you are planning to go on to Aria, Monte Carlo, NYNY or MGM, then I would advise walking all the way through Bellagio to the conservatory and then taking the tram, which goes as far as Monte Carlo.
