Any chance I can switch from Mandalay Bay to THEHotel when I check in?

The room is free from myVegas, not sure if that changes anything.

I would VERY much like to know the answer to this to. Specifically I'd like to switch to a pet friendly room at TheHotel if it was possible. I'm sure that I'd have to pay some extra but it still might be worth it. Back when they had the suite's available on MyVegas I was wondering if switching from a suite might be more likely since TheHotel is considered an upgrade from standard rooms.

I have a hunch that nobody is going to have the answer but I'm listening to.

There have been accounts of this happening at check-in, plus the last couple trips Mandalay has sent me an email in advance of arrival asking if I want to upgrade to THEhotel for something like $20 a night. However, by all indications this is fairly rare, I'd be very surprised if they were to offer such a significant upgrade on a MyVegas room, and if a pet friendly room is something you need, I certainly wouldn't want to risk not getting it.

If you need a pet friendly, book it in advance. I would not want to chance it.

Getting upgrades to theHotel. Sure, it is possible. Easy? I would think not. Otherwise, why would ANYONE prefer a regular room at MB over a 2 room suite at theHotel?

I expect to pay, I just don't wanna pay a LOT, ya dig?

I'd probably do $50 total to do it.

If you get THEhotel it's an upgrade, can't hurt to ask, try slipping them a $20 and asking, but don't expect it. Yes, I have seen people who have been upgraded there.

But you have to remember it's a different hotel, with different check in essentially. I don't know how frequently this happens.

Correct. My parents got their room via MyVegas and slipped the $20 and got upgraded to TheHOTEL without any problems, this was a weekday back in April.

At this point though, I wouldn't care which I was in. THEhotel rooms are pretty worn out. Also the standard Mandalay Rooms are fairly large. But it is nice to have the separate living room.

I guess I wasn't thinking about the fact that my question is slightly different from the OP's. I wondered if you can actually book and upgrade as opposed to waiting till I get there. i.e. Can I call and say I have a MyVegas comp for a standard Mandalay Bay room, can I pay some extra and reserve a pet-friendly TheHotel room.

My dad did receive an email offering an upgrade a week before his trip. I want to say it was $100 more....

Was this on a MyVegas reward like the OP is using or just a regular booking?

MyVegas Reward. I was told they got that email because it's not a "comp" and in the system it thinks you paid for it...
