Give me some suite advice!!

going to LV the first week of July with a group of 4(possibly 5) mid-late 20 year old guys. Looking to get a suite for the Saturday night only and want to spend around $500-700 for the room. Preferably at a place that has a nice pool and good nightlife located in the hotel. I have never stayed in a suite in LV outside of Caesars so I really need some opinions on what would be best for us.

I was looking at the aria sky suites and a few suites at the cosmo, not sure if those are worth the money

 

Cosmo and Aria would both be good choices. But i would go for the wraparound @Cosmo were u have everything your looking for right in the hotel. The best club, bars and restaurants for your demographic and also the blvd pool is awesome for partying and scenery.

 

Don't know what the rates are that weekend, but here are a few general thoughts on suites that aren't at the absolute top of the market price wise:

Mandalay Bay. Affordable suites and they just opened new day and night clubs

MGM Grand. Newly renovated suites of different sizes, great pool scene, and a new club

Mirage. Older, but affordable suites, decent pool, and a nightclub on property that (I am told) attracts a younger crowd

Cosmo would get my nod based on location. It's a lot easier to get where you want to go from there than it is when you're buried in the deep south at MGM...and this is from someone who stays at MGM over half the time I come out

 

Go with the Extra Bedroom Suite or 1500X3 Suite at Mandalay.

I'm going that weekend and checked on Suites on the Strip. Those are very well priced for the size and the fact you have, at minimum, 2 beds (1 King & 1 Queen or 1 King and 2 Queens in the 1500X3).

With 5 guys, 1 or 2 of you wouldn't have to pass out in a pool of vomit on the hotel room carpet...but you're not out of your 20's yet, so maybe that's all part of the allure.

 

yea i stayed at MGM a few years back and my only complaint was the location, cosmo definitely seems like the better choice for what we are looking for

 

I looked into MB and the only problem is the location, its not a problem for me but the other guys want to be more center strip

 

Check the 2 BR Penthouse or Hospitality Suite at Vdara.

Again, 2 bedrooms/2 beds and there's a kitchen in those rooms. Lots of space.

I'm curious if anyone has stayed in one of those Wraparound Terrace Suites at Cosmo, however. I liked the set up (who wouldn't?), but it appeared to me that the full refrigerator in that room comes fully loaded/stocked (which is a drag, imo) and was curious about the sound system in there.

Does anyone know if that room is just a MP3 / AV hookup to the television or is there a separate system?

Don't mean to hijack your thread, QuaDxAceZ...but you're possibly staying there and these are very, very, very important/poignant questions.

 

how is the pool at the Vdara? stupid question, but if you are staying at the Vdara, are you able to use the Aria pool?

not sure on cost but the Cosmo would be my first choice.

 

The refrigerators in the Wraparound Suites are not fully stocked. If I remember correctly there are a couple of shelves empty and a crisper section that is empty, plus two freezer drawers. I do not remember seeing a separate sound system in the room.

 

For your requirements, I'd definitely do the wrap-around suite at Cosmo with a view of the Bellagio fountains... The view/suite is unreal!

 

Just in terms of the suite, I think Cosmo is the better option here. If you can afford to upgrade to the Skyline Terrace Suite, though, stick with MGM. I still think MGM has the better pool scene, although Cosmo has the slightly better nightclub scene. If you can get a wraparound terrace suite for $500, jump on it!

 

Trying to get my head around the plans here.

One night only, Saturday night, want pool and good casino nightlife.

So, depending on when you arrive and when you actually get the room, that could hinder your pool time. And if you are going out, it could hinder the time in the suite. Depending on checkout the next morning, there may be limited pool time then as well.

It does appear you have started checking into the bedding situation. Most suites have a king bed. And many suites are just one large room.

 

We will be staying at the flamingo all week and our last night we wanted to do something different and spend a little money. For some reason I did not really think about the lack of pool time between checking in late and checking out around noon the next day, thank you for reminding me of that. But I am hoping that suites would be ready a little earlier than regular rooms(trying to be optimistic)..I'm not too worried about the bedding situation since its out last night and there won't be much sleeping going on

 

For what it's worth. We (2 people) were given a 2 BR suite at Flamingo once. King in one bedroom. 2 Queens in the other. Large Living Room area, and Dining Table plus wetbar. Can not imagine the price, but I would guess way less than some others.

If you could move into that your last night or two, might be an option.

 

I was going to say the same thing. They have 2 types of these. The Metropolitan suite is fairly recently updated and very nice. Alternatively, they have "Executive suites" that are essentially the same, but have not been remodeled. The executive suites are actually a larger in sq ft and have a 3rd bathroom w/shower.

Price wise, we stayed in an executive last month (had 2 normal rooms booked), at check-in they said the upgrade charge was $125 a night, but we ended up doing $75.

 

Go with Cosmo and head over there early in the morning on check in date to get the full value of having a suite for only one day. If the room is not ready just head out to the pool area and the bell desk will store your luggage and deliver it to your room when its ready. The front desk will then text your cell and you can go to the concierge to pick up the room keys when they got your suite set up.

Hopefully you will get your room at check in but if not its not really that bad to have to chill out at the pool when waiting for it. Then right across the bridge over at PH you have a huge Walgreens were u can stock up with booze and mixers to bring to your room. The wraparound and Terrace suite have plenty of space in the fridge (top 2 shelf and space on the sides) for lots of drinks and also have a freezer.

Partying at Cosmo will be awesome at your age and u will have a blast. Way better then Mgm or any other hotel for 20-30 year olds.
