We just got home last night from four nights at Bellagio. I normally play quarter and $0.50 video poker. This time I played mostly JOB to get max play time. I have started playing Bonus Poker Deluxe at our local casino but had trouble finding it on the strip.

Yesterday I returned to a bank of machines near the sports bar at Bellagio. I sat down and put $20 in a machine before I realized that it was an Ultimate 4OAK Bonus Poker Deluxe machine. I would normally have immediately cashed out and moved to another machine but didn't because 1) it was our last day, 2) it was only $20, 3) I would play at the quarter level and 4) the fact that it was Bonus Poker Deluxe caught my eye. I normally avoid the machines that cost more than 5 credits per hand in order to try to get a bonus (this took 6 credits).

So on the first deal I get three 3s. Unbelievably I got the fourth 3 on the redeal. So now I know I have the normal 400 credits plus whatever the bonus is (the paytable for 4OAK says 400 plus bonus). A screen full of cards came up (I believe there were 53 cards) and it said to pick a card. The one I chose said 300 credits. I'm happy - I have an extra $75! Then it said to pick another card and said something about picking a joker - at this point I didn't know if a joker was good or bad. Sure enough, I get the joker - which was worth 3695 credits!! I was in such a state of shock and so excited watching the credits add up that I immedately cashed out and went to show my husband - $1,117.25 after playing only one hand. My largest win ever.

I went back later to the same machine and as expected the $20 was gone in no time. I"m extremely conservative so I won't be searching this machine out as I know I beat unbelievable odds to win that much.

By the way, where is the best place to find Bonus Poker Deluxe on the strip? I will be back in August.

    Wow, great hit!!!

As for the best place? Eh, that's harder to say. Virtually all of the strip doesn't have full pay (9/6) Bonus Poker Deluxe.

According to VPFree2, they say Circus Circus has it on a 5-play Dream Card machine, but you probably will have to play all the hands to be able to bet 5 credits per hand (or 10 per hand if you would want to play Dream Card...not worth the extra variance, imo as the return only increases 0.02%).

    http://www.vpfree2.com/casino/circus-circus-hotel-casino

Off the strip, VPFree2 lists several casinos that have 9/6 (99.64%), including Orleans, Fremont, Plaza, Red Rock, and Southpoint among others. Also LVH has it for as cheap as single line nickels according to VPFree2.

8/6 (98.49%) will also be a bit difficult to find on the strip as well, unfortunately I don't recall seeing if any of those payouts existed on my last trip on the Strip. :( 8/5 will exist somewhere I'm sure for quarters (97.4%), and I wouldn't play any worse machine than that for $1.25/hand.

Congrats! I'd rather win $1,117.25 than $1200 any day.

I was playing some 8/6 Boner Deluxe at Encore last trip, but on $1. I was pretty much happy if I could find 8/5 on the strip...

I was playing some 8/6 Boner Deluxe at Encore last trip, but on $1. I was pretty much happy if I could find 8/5 on the strip...but also keep in mind, 8/6 bonus deluxe is equivalent to 9/6 DDB in payback percentage (98.49%), but with much lower variance....

I would much rather take the moderate extra variance to play 9/6 DDB (98.98%) over 8/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe which pays nearly 0.5% less. 9/6 DDB might be almost as easy to find on the Strip as 8/6 BP deluxe at the dollar level anyway. Luxor has 9/6 DDB including a Super Times Pay feature in their high limit room for dollars on a couple of All Star Poker units.

Bonus Poker Deluxe is definitely better than DDB if the full house/flush payouts sum up to the same number though.

A bigger question I suppose is: Can one find 8/6 BP Deluxe at the quarter level on the strip? Otherwise, I'd try play 9/5 DDB before playing 8/5 BP Deluxe. Planet Hollywood has 9/5 DDB for as cheap as nickels ranging to quarters (also with Super Times Pay available) next to the poker room.

Note that I was on a major STP hunt on my trip last week...lol

9-6 DDB is very hard to find on the strip for anything less than $1. Even at $1 coin, 9-5 tends to be the standard. At $1 you can get 9-6 DDB at Mirage and Excalibur, for sure.

    Awesome story.

Low bankroll. Low bet. Just short of hand pay on $1.50 bet. Makes for a nice day.

Thanks for the comments. I realize I am not going to get great paytables on the strip but was just having trouble in general finding Bonus Poker Deluxe at all. I did end up doing OK at JOB as long as I stayed at Bellagio - everywhere else killed me except MGM.

Yeah Bonus Poker Deluxe isn't too easy to find, it's more often on older looking game kings in my experience, or sometimes 50/100 plays or Spin Poker without Super Times Pay (because regular Super Times Pay doesn't offer BP deluxe. CET bars have the game, but they are at 6/5, which is below 96% and unplayable, imo.

Also some (not all) Double Super Times Pay machines have them. I know the Double Super Times Pay units at Cosmo had it. I assume it was 8/5 for quarters and 7/5 or worse for nickels because I chose to play Bonus Poker over Bonus Poker Deluxe. Generally I try to play the highest paying variant available, which was Bonus in that machine's case. I didn't get to check Cosmo's bars this trip, but it's possible it would be there too.

Thanks, tringlomane. I will be on the lookout for those types of machines in August - and agree that 6/5 is not playable (although when I won my $1117 last week on the Ultimate 4OAK that's probably what the paytable was).
