Anyone recently tried to win that CET million dollar 3 card poker bonus bet? I played that sucker bet last year at PHO and Paris on every play. Wondering if anyone has ever gotten that 6 card diamond royal flush...doubtful. Possibly tanked that game?

I recall an article that someone won it at Harrah's (?) in Atlantic City (?). Google probably has it.

Oh yeah, someone just hit it last month....said every dealer at every 3 card table at every CET property (I've asked numerous times). :rolleyes2:

As a side note, this made me smile for some reason. Obviously I know what you are saying, but the way it's worded makes it seem like Google is its own news entity with reporters, writers, etc. Made me think of The Office episode where Michael Scott says, "I've gotta get YouTube down here to film this!"

It's really gone downhill the last couple seasons since Steve Carell left (this is the last one) but check out the first 4 or 5 seasons on DVD or Netflix....it's a riot.

Supposedly 6 won it in the first twelve months between Vegas and Atlantic City. Volume has a major effect. If there is 250 hands dealt at a table per hour, then it should hit every 80000 hours or so on a single table. If 20 tables are consistently running this (a rough guessimate), then a winner will be seen roughly every 4000 hours. There are 8760 hours in a year, so we should expect a few winners a year. I think 6 in the first 12 months was a bit of a fluke that I am sure CET was not terribly happy with except for the promo value.

whats the odds on this bonus bet? I couldn't find it on the wizard's site. Also, I think you have to play pair plus to bet the bonus, which would make it a pretty terrible bet :rolleyes2:

That bet is a 15.28% house edge. The odds for the royal flush is 1 in 9 million or .000009. But the odds it comes in diamonds for the million is 1 in 20 million.

Actually it's a little bit worse. 18.10% edge.

    http://wizardofvegas.com/forum/questions-and-answers/math/5607-3-card-poker-with-6card-bonus-1-million/

And that's assuming you wager $5 only. If you wager more, it's a higher house edge. Also note that about 1% of the bet's return is devoted to hitting the 6-card diamond royal flush. 0.3% devoted to the other 3 6-card royals. So 99.9999% of players will experience an effective 20% edge bet here.

I actually came close @ PH couple of years ago. Got dealt Q, 10, 9 of diamonds and dealers first two cards were the K, J, diamonds. Last card she flipped was Q hearts. RATS !!!! Lol, still paid 1K on the $5 6 card bet straight flush. I know the odds are terrible on this bet but as a lady told my wife on our very 1st trip there. " It's *#%!@#* Vegas!" And the year previously I played the $5 table @ Caesars every day for our 4 days there and actually ended up, so overall that game has treated me fairly well.

At least you had the $1000 locked up. It would have really sucked if you only had a normal flush with a draw to the Super Royal and win only $75.

thanks for the replies, these odds definitely compete with the big six wheel for suckiness. 3 card has always been a slow bleed but its good to play with casino newbies to get them into the swing of things.
    Serious money i prefer: bj >craps > casino war > pai gow> 3 card

I find 3 card a great grind game when just playing the 'ante' and 'play'.

Yeah, but then you'll have to ignore all those that point out when you would have won the Pair Plus. That really drives me away from the game since the days of 4 to 1 flushes ceased to exist.

I can only imagine....I hear it enough when the dealer and other players point out that I would have had 3 of a kind on the 6 card bonus (which I am almost always the only person at the table not playing). They don't have much to say when I point out that I would have lost the last 15 $5 bets to win that $25!

I don't play it anymore for that reason. I don't like it pointed out to me I'm not playing it and I also don't like NOT playing it either in case I do hit a decent 5 card hand. That bet really spoiled it for me. Now I just play UTH or BTH.

When the dealers or pit boss ask why I am not playing pairs plus I tell them that the odds are worse on it and I end up pushing a bunch of hand that I would have made $5 off of.

I think that they are trained to ask you, so that you do play it.

As long as chips are coming my way I don't care.
