    Hi gang,

after years of being CET players/stayers it looks like we're going to give the MGM Grand a shot. Probably a group of 8-10 going out in September.

A couple big spenders in the mix, but mostly middle/low rollers (average $750 daily gaming budget).

We don't have any history with MGM properties, but I was thinking we might want to work through a host, if we could find one before going out.

    So two questions;

    1. Should we contact a host to help out with booking rooms?
    2. Does anyone have a good host to recommend?

    Thanks!

If you are a big spender and gambler then I might consider getting a host. If you are going to mainly party and not gamble, I recommend not getting a host. If someone in the group is a big gambler, I would have them get a host.

    Good luck!

Several of us will bring 3-4k for gaming over three days. One guy will probably budget 6-7k (and he usually loses it all :rolleyes2: ).

Do you think Abstractsoup will spring for a host? How much does a host cost and what is the benefit?

I don't think it costs anything to have a host. From what I can tell, pretty much anyone can work with a host, but their ability to do much for you is tied to how much you bet.

I would say the best idea would be the explain the situation to a host and see what he can do for you.

I use Lateef Williams, and have used Curtis Shulman. Lateef Williams always gives me the best deal. Curtis Shulman is always very responsive to emails right away.

When I first switched from CET to MGM I called and asked for a host.
That was about 4-5 years ago.
They pretty much said with no track record in their system, no host.

I booked my room online and was assigned a host after two days of play.
They comped everything after that but they were adamant that there were no upfront comps and my budget and loc were substantially higher.

I don't know if their policy has changed since then.

In retrospect,it was a good move to get away from CET.I think their policy has probably scared away a lot of prople who are hooked on TR and afraid to go anywhere without an upfront comp.

My host at the MGM is Curtis Shulman, really nice guy, and is upfront with you about what you need to play to get to a certain level of comp

Hi, how do I get Curtis contact info?
I don't see anything for hosts on the MGM grand website?

    Thank you in advance!

I hope you're joking. I told my host that if I ever had to talk to Curtis anymore for anything, i would never return to MGM.

Ohhh really? I only hear good things about him? Do you by any chance have a better contact you can offer? I'm trying to spread my play as I think I am getting shorted by my host at the Aria :(

    thank you in advance!!

Do you have a host you like at any other MGM property? If so, simply ask that host to refer you to a good host at MGM grand.

    This sounds good. What happened?

He's very responsive. But the impression I got was that he's new and doesn't have much power, or the authority to pull the trigger.

Back on topic, I've never nailed down a good host at MGM Grand. I use Lateef Williams and he seems to give me good deals, but I can never get a hold of him on property if I have a problem.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the consensus on the forum seems to be that Craig Robinson and Robert Drobnik are good.

whether it's authority of willingness, that's the problem. first he was the host on duty and refused to give me a TTO. i had to wake my host up to get it done. then next trip he refused to do anything for me even though I got killed that trip. no airfare and no extra F&B. had to talk to my host when he got back in town to get the airfare and by then it was too late to pick up the F&B, so I lost about $3k express comps. I will never deal with him again.

    What's TTO?

I don't see it in the acronym list...

This Trip Only. Typically referring to using money one normally wouldn't, or in this case a comp above/different from normal levels
