Wow!! so glad we are staying at the Rio the first week in March as we are looking forward to seeing the show...this is our second trip to Vegas and when we went to Rio the last visit, it was a night the show wasnt scheduled for so we missed it....This trip we were excited to stay there so we knew we would see it.

Thats pretty stupid, how much could it cost them to have some cocktail waitress stop what they are doing and hop on a float thats already built and sitting there a couple times a night? That show was one of the few reasons we went out to Rio from the strip. Its not like their silly dance show brought me in!

This certainly won't help them getting people in the door to gamble. Aren't they trying to sell the place? This can't help....

I just rode the floats during the show last month, and was hoping to do it again next week when staying there (it is now going to be dark that week). The cast has always been very friendly and outgoing, and keep in touch on Facebook. Nice bunch of young people.

I think that we may have to go out and see it too. Wonder if they are going to "Quad" the Rio? Anyone know?

I'm wondering if it's a problem with maintenance/replacing the floats. There are definitely less of them in recent years, and some don't make it all the way around the circuit when the show is on. They must be fairly expensive to keep going.

I'm just sad for the performers who will lose their jobs. So sad to hear about.

I will hopefully see one or two of the final shows. We should be at the Rio from 21st March for at least a week.

We'll be in Vegas end of next week. We've never seen it so hopefully we can catch it while we're there. Although most shows, restaurants, etc are open for years, it's getting so that if you really want to see something or eat somewhere you better go sooner than later.

The S-I-T-S was a highlight for many years. Too bad.

I wish they would keep the S-I-T-S and get rid of those bevertainers. They are just awful. You can be sitting quietly at a machine, drinking a nice coffee, enjoying the morning. Then all of a sudden you're jarred by blaring music and some less-than-enthusiastic person singing and gyrating up on a platform.

Vegasgroove, SO TRUE LOL. This happened to me several times and jarred me back to life while zoning out quietly on a slot machine.

Hate to see any free attraction close down.

Just another step in the de-theming of Vegas casinos. Sad.

Expenses. They've been chipping away at that show for the past two years. Masquerade Village as a whole is dying. The Irish Pub that replaced McFadden's has been closed on my last 3 visits, as is the souvenier store where you could buy photos with the Chippendales and cast members that no longer come out after the show. Lots of boarded up space, too.

The last time we stopped there (August of 2011) to see Penn & Teller the wife played some slots way at one end of the casino where there are stairs going up...I could NOT stand the smell there....It was DEFINITELY sewer gasses coming from somewhere there and in general the casino was dirty...swore we would never go back.

BTW Penn and Teller were VERY Good but the dinner before the show at Buzios Seafood Restaurant was HORRIBLE....worst dinner I have ever had in Vegas...and it was my choice to treat the gang since my son paid for the show tickets....bad....BAD B A D....REAL BAD and EXPENSIVE as hell...:vomit:

This is too bad. I like the Rio and wish it the best. I feel like being off Strip is catching up with it. $35 a night and no foot traffic gamblers makes it hard to keep up a high standard. I know that the Show was the reason I made my first visit there. It's sad to see it go because I feel like it is just the beginning. Although if Masquerade Village is dying it isn't the begining.

That being said, I may stay out there Labor Day weekend.

I wouldn't let this discourage you from staying there. I still had an awesome time last week and overall the vibe is still pretty fun. Just love the location and proximity to Palms and Gold Coast, the size of the rooms, and just the look and colors of the buildings.

    P&T took em down

Maybe the cost of keeping P&T took down the Rio Show in the sky? Hmmm.... We are seeing them next week. Do they still greet the audience after the show? .....Too bad about the Rio Show in the Sky tho....Maybe more time at the GC or Palms playing VP?

I've never seen the Show in the Sky. It's just another example of Vegas things that I neglect to get to and then they go away. I gotta get a Vegas bucket list before my next trip.
